^^ I bet if the Wizards had Thibs, and the Bulls had Flip, people here would be saying that they wished the Wizards would have hired Flip. Even without Boozer, the Bulls at home are heavy favorites against the Wizards especially if Wall and Blatche are not 100%. Seraphin is raw- it's not really surprising that he's not seeing any time at this point of his career.

Where is that Nike Hoops Summit video when I need it? Seraphin has played against NBA talent and held his own. Given our NBA worst front court, there's no reason he can't play a few minutes here-and-there with specific instructions.

he would definitely be better at playing zone than mcgee and grab more boards than yi no matter what the language barrier.

I haven't really seen much Seraphin to judge, and assume it's something they see in practice that makes them keep him on the bench. When the Wizards signed him, I think I heard that he signed with the understanding that he would not be assigned to D-League. If he's getting paid the same one way or the other, I wonder if he actually prefers sitting on the bench to playing in D-League? I guess watching NBA games and practicing with pros helps, and with the team he will one day (hopefully) actually play with helps overcome any language barrier issues. Still, a brief assignment to the D-League to get some real game experience and work out specific issues might be useful.

And who is to blame for that not happening.

EG tried to add him here but for some strange reason he didn't want to stay or someone made a power play to no have him added to the staff.

Who pick EFJ as our coach may be the first place you want to start looking.

As for Seraphin playing, I guess the Yi injury could only help his chances. I just wish there were more updates on him. Before the season started, I predicted McGee would loose his starting roll and maybe even some minutes at center to Armstrong and Seraphin and that Seraphin was a key to us having a tougher post presence.

With some easier teams on the slate and McGee still making the same mistakes, hopefully they find some minutes for Seraphin. At this point you need to get him out there some so he gets a feel for what he has and what he still needs to work on.

My guess is that McGee gets one more game slated as the starter. If he doesn't play like a starter, it could be as early as the next game that he starts to see a few games of not starting and less minutes while they try see what Armstrong and Seraphin can do.

I still think McGee has great upside longer term but it isn't as a starting center right now. He could be awesome as a back up PF/C off the bench though.

Personally, I think Flip has a better chance getting Armstrong and Seraphin to do what he needs done in the post.

Interview with Kirk

What about on the Wizards, who sets the toughest screens in practice?

“Kevin [Seraphin].” [said with no hesitation, a laugh, and a bit of a French accent ... Ke-Veene]

So can we get this kid on the floor because solid screens is something we could use. He can't be anymore lost of D than McGee so what is there to loose ? Plus, in past videos at actually looked like he has a game with his back to the basic.

Anyone on this team that can dial up a snarl like that should be playing at least some minutes.

Anyone else with thoughts on KS's debut last night? He looks like he will foul a lot at-first as he get's used to NBA style play. I'd like to see him battle another big in the post.

I would send Kev to the D-League for half the season to get some playing-time, he needs it.

At least he was able to get his first bucket last night. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

He set a bone crunching pick on Jarett Jack. It was a moving screen and he got called for a foul, but I'm sure Jack will think twice about fighting through one of his screens again.

I think last night proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that KS is either a total bust or a complete steal, and that Flip should be fired or named COY.

Raptors rookie center to gain game experience with Erie BayHawks
Solomon Alabi isn't sure how long he'll be here, but the Toronto Raptors' 7-foot 1-inch, 251-pound center intends on making a difference for the Erie BayHawks starting in their 2010-11 season opener Friday night at 7 against Springfield at Tullio Arena.

"I'm hoping to come here and play and do whatever the coaches want me to do and try to get a win," he said. "Try to win with this team and work as hard as I can for as long as I can."

Gotta do the same for Kevin.

Highlight of the game IMO. Blatantly illegal and two feet from the referee (who could have called it in advance, it was that obvious) but I had a nice "oh no he didn't!" moment.

I missed the game but read where he knocked Joey Dorsey on his ass. I'd love to see video of that...

The Hawks beat the Wizards in points in the paint, 26-6, in the first half. "We've been getting destroyed, points in the paint," Saunders said.

Saunders eventually called on Kevin Seraphin, who got his most extended playing time of the season and recorded six points and five rebounds in 17 minutes. Seraphin didn't shoot the ball well, as he often fired the moment he touched the ball, no matter where he was. After he missed a foul line jumper, Saunders called him over and shouted, "You don't have to shoot every time!" Seraphin nodded.

"Kevin played good, he gave us a presence," Saunders said. "We have to find somebody who is going to give us a presence in the paint."

Seraphin is steal extremely raw, but he is physical. He tossed Pachulia to the ground in order to get an offensive rebound in the fourth quarter. "That's what I do," Seraphin said. "I'm happy because I don't play, but if I get a chance to play with this team, I'm going to play hard, defend, make a rebound, make a good screen, if I can do that for the team."

He gave some nice minutes last night in garbage time. I won't get very excited about it because it was, in fact, garbage time. And it's also important to acknowledge that other teams haven't bothered to scout him yet.

He showed some nice defensive instincts though. He was the first big I've seen all year to actually step out when defending the pick and roll and force the guard away from the basket. He also boxed people out every now and then. He's a project but he showed me enough that I now have hope.

Yes, very very raw on the whole but his defensive positioning was excellent and his physical presence was obvious. He's not quite ready for the regular rotation but he needs every single minute possible and not in the NBDL. I suspect he'll be able to contribute in Armstong's minutes by the end of the year, much like Serge Ibaka's progression as a rookie.

Liked the energy but he's really small. Kept getting him confused with Booker. Although that could mean that Booker is bigger than I give him credit for...
