1. Can we keep a core of Beal, Wall, Gay, Seraphin, Néne, and our first rd pick together and stay under the luxury tax?

No. That's the kind of thinking that gets us in trouble. Opportunity cost is the issue. Even if we could just barely fit everything under the luxtax, we can't predict the opportunities that we would end up missing because of our salary situation. The only time a team should ignore opportunity cost is if the acquisition in question would be the final piece that completes a championship team (because, if you are a championship team, you're not worried about future acquisitions). Clearly, we are a few steps away from that point.

This is really the key issue and should be kept in mind at all times. Failure to do this is what i believe led to the Okariza deal in the first place. If you are going to piss away your capspace for 2 years it better be on someone who can be a key piece of a championship contender. Incremental improvement should never be the goal.

Unfortunately with no capspace for the next two years the Wizards are pretty much boxed into a corner. They can either trade for expirings or trade for someone elses bad contract and hope the guy helps. Obviously expirings would be preferable since this team is so far away from being a contender.

With the pending sale to the Seattle group I think we can all safely assume Petrie has no authority to do anything.

Can't see Ballmer and his group allowing any transactions to occur before they axe the entire staff and get their own people in place.

Nivek, now is the time to send a resume to Ballmer and Chris Hansen. Hansen's contact info is easy enough to locate.....

What about this deal:

Wiz trade Emeka+Ariza for Pau
LAL trade Pau+Blake for Ariza+Charlie V+Stuckey
Det trades Stuckey+Charlie V for Emeka+Blake

Wiz shut Pau down to rest and play for a contract next year.

Not sure what's in it for LA/Detroit. The Lakers give up the best player in the deal and don't even save any money or get any picks. And I don't really see where the Pistons need Okafor.

But for the Wiz, sure why not?

well i think its a matter of value. Webster is more valuable per dollar than gay. Gay is getting 16,17 and 19 mill plus change for the next 3 years. we can probably resign webster for 2-4 mill for 2-4 years. webster is preforming on par with gay when given equal minutes. in the last two games webster have out scored, out stole and had a better over all FG %. the thing is webster may not be as good as gay, but he is a better value and can preform on par with gay in terms of production. webster is only getting paid 1 mill and gay is getting 16, its a not ever a question to me.

I also think we pass on D.C. we need to just stay away from him.

I think we need to dump okariza and NENE in to expiring contracts, young players and picks. we should just admit that we tried to contend to soon.

Wizards Trade Nene...Price and Singleton
To Thunder For
.....Perkins, Lamb, Maynor and 1st rd
Wizards Trade Okafor and Crawford
To Celtics For
....Jeff Green and Courtney Lee
Bos does it cause it gives them a defensive/rebounding center and a playmaker off the bench
Okc does it cause it'll help them win a title this yr
Wiz does it cause it gives them another top 10 pick and it gets rid of Okafor and Nene

Or/And

Wizards Trade
(Lee or Crawford)..Seraphin...and Thunder 1st rd and Wizards 2nd rd
For
Cousins
Pay your beals....or its lights out!!!
Bron, Bosh, Wade is like Mike, Hakeem, barkley...3 top 5 picks from same draft

Hi, I'm Chris Hansen, why don't you take a seat over there so we can discuss how I can sack your team.

Wrong Hansen. :)

He's actually a big sports numbers nut....great for Seattle. Hansen led the purchase, Ballmer just minority partner.

Enough about 'His Gayness' (pun definitely intended)

What ever happened to all those 'trade for Derrick Williams' rants?

If i remember right back before the 2011 draft some people were saying trade McGee + 6th pick for the 2nd pick which would be DWill. If we could go back in time i would take that deal in a heartbeat. McGee isn't here and if we make that deal Vesely and Nene (with his huge contract) wouldn't be here either.

So far this season DWill's per 36 numbers are 18/9 with a TS% of 53%.

Couldn't we trade Nene(traded McGee to get him) and Vesely(6th pick) and get Derrick Williams?

They would have to throw in filler like Roy and another contract.

Well they can not do that deal flat because the cap will not work. But, I'm not sure they do that deal, Love would make the cap work, plus D will is playing well... He might not be going anywhere anymore. I dot see them giving up love without wanting our pick and I think its two valuable. Maybe do the trade for D will, luke, roy and stiemsma but I don't know if they do that trade.

Agree on opportunity cost but I think getting Rudy for basically nothing is one of those opportunities...

Aside fom this deal, what are other Crawford trades ideas?

Ernie:
2013 & 2014 first round picks + Wall & Beal for Rudy Gay.

That is my worst offer.

However, YOU CANNOT HAVE THIS BAG OF SKITTLE'S!

Random Question:

If you knew you could get both Cousins and Gay, but you'd have to give up 2013's first and Nene...would you do it?

deneem4 posted this trade on the Memphis board: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=b9954b2

What is the most you'd give up for both of these players?
