I owe Marcin Gortat an apology. I got it wrong. The Wizards did right to resign him over Ariza.

Gortat is playing like he's worth $12M. All he has to do is keep this up.

Good article to read.

http://www.csnwashington.com/basketball ... re-celebra

When talking about Otto Porter and Garrett Temple, a pair of role players who posted career-highs in points in the last game, Gortat went back to being the Quote Machine:

On Porter: "He's beast-ing. (It's) those extra three pounds he gained. He's doing a great job. He's eating more and more with breakfast everyday. He's lifting more. He's switched from 10 pounds to 12 pounds on dumbbells."

On Temple: "Everybody's focused on Otto being great and me and Nene dominating the paint but how about Garrett? The guy's been in the league for a while. He's been working his tail off every day. … I think he's the darkhorse of the whole team. He's doing a tremendous job. He's the brightest guy on the team. He could name seven continents just like that (snaps fingers). As a matter of fact he can name the capitals of every country. This is really impressive seriously. In this environment we are in, people didn't go to college."

Sublime. Get March out of the post in into pick and roll as much as possible!

For those that listen to podcasts...Marcin was on Men in Blazers (soccer program) last week. If you wish to skip to the interview, it starts at 45min.

Van Gundy recalls having similar concerns with Wizards center Marcin Gortat when they were both with the Orlando Magic. At the airport Gortat would zoom off going over 100 m.p.h., worrying Van Gundy about his driving speed. "It's not just an example; it's safety," Van Gundy said. "I still to this day every time I see Gortat, I ask him if he's slowed down. "It's scary to me."

Gortat missed his last free throw of the game in 3/4 FT shooting vs Miami( first was missed other 3 went in)

Up to this point he made 21 in a row without a miss ;) Just cool fact ;)

He hasn't been playing up to last years level this year.

That game against CHI was awesome to see. We really needed that from him.

He was on a roll. Very Hammer game from Mr Gortat.

Welcome back Hammer.

Hammer post game interview. First game both he and Nene had 10 rebounds in the same game.

I believe Gortat had a double-double at halftime.

Yeah his play has trailed off after a solid start to the season. They certainly haven't been looking for him nearly as much on offense, specifically in the pick and roll game. He hasn't rebounded or defended the last month or so the way we need him to either.

It's good to see that he has back-to-back double-doubles from him.
