Might be time to give up on the 3 pt shoot, at least for now. He's sub 25% on the year and 1 for his last 15 from deep. On the bright side, he is shooting 53% on 2 pointers and has been decent on long twos.

His 3 point shooting is a pretty big problem. Watching him last season I thought he would have no problem making 3s at a decent rate.

His 3pt shooting has been a problem, but I don't think it's time for him to stop shooting threes. He's 16-66 from 3pt range this season -- .242. He's shooting .467 on long twos (which is his most accurate range so far this season, except for at-rim attempts). To boost his efg on threes to better than .467 it would take 5 additional makes so far this season -- just .318 from 3pt range. Last season, he shot .346 from 3pt range -- the difference between last season and this year: 7 made threes; an additional make every third game.

Yeah I don't think he should stop shooting them. He just needs to start making them.

He's gonna get hot from 3 at some point. He was damn near lethal in the playoffs.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

He'll make more 3's, but he's likely never going to be a big scorer. I stand by the T. Prince comp.

I'm okay with that, as long as he does the little things necessary to win games.

That would be a high price draft-wise, to take a tool-box guy @ 3. Iggy used to be a crappy shooter so we have to hope that his 3-pointer will come around.

Thing I'm most concerned about is that his defense has taken a bit of a drop as far as I can tell. Guy seemed to be in perfect position his first two years--maybe its because we went small now and don't have as much rim protection but he kind of looks like just a guy defensively right now. I'm concerned about his ceiling on that end now.

Well, he's 200 lbs, and they've been playing him some at the 4. I think it's foolish for the Wiz to have him defend inside -when he's so good defending on the perimeter.

Porter rebounding numbers have gone up significantly. In the month of November he averaged 3.8 rpg. So far this month, he is averaging 8 rebounds per game.

Re: Otto Porter Part 2
Could part of the reason why Otto isn't playing up to expectations be because of conditioning? He is regularly guarding the other team's best player on the defensive end and maybe that is exhausting him too much for the offensive side?

Re: Otto Porter Part 2
I think some people got their expectations up too high after the playoffs. The playoffs are a small sample size of games.
This is his first season playing big minutes so it shouldnt be a surprise when he struggles. I would expect him to do better during the 2nd half of the season.

Yeah, I don't really have much of a problem with the way Otto is playing. The last two games were awful, but he may have been playing hurt.
He's still the kind of guy who adds to the team, without taking much away. That's a good foundation. Hopefully, as the years go by, he'll continue to bring more and more to the table.

He's doing other things but he needs to start producing more offense more consistently. Can't put up 2 points in 23 minutes.
