No hometown discount - just cashing in. I hope I'm wrong, and he can wheel them to a championship, but taking such a huge chunk of the salary just shows how selfish he is. Best case scenario, he plays well and stays healthy, so they can trade him at the deadline next year.

You think this is Tommy-driven???
It's a Turd special no question about it. Jerry West couldn't save this team if he was the GM under Turd. Turd ONLY cares about getting 2 home playoff games. Trying to win a title is irrelevant for him.
I just don't understand this. Why not miss those two playoff games for 3 years while tanking and building a team, and then playing 8 home playoff games in Year 4?
And after that,we would have a competitive team that will play in many more home playoff games going forward.
According to Kevin Sheehan (local radio host), home playoff games are the only way the team can be profitable. That's the mandate for the FO.

True example of a poverty franchise

I really think the 2 home playoff games doesn't matter. Ted just thinks he's really smart when he's really stupid. That's literally it. Narcissist billionaire syndrome. He thinks he's a genius for never tanking because it's different from what Presti and Hinkie did, and casual fans will praise him for "always being competitive".
He also knows damn well that if you tank, you can sell *hope*, but he doesn't care.

I’m more concerned about WHEN Brad gets injured and how many games will he unavailable. He missed 80 games over his first three seasons.
I bet he misses at least 25 games a year moving forward.

We are the worst run franchise in all professional sports. It's been 43 years since we won 50 games. It looks like we are sure to get to 50.
Can’t blame this on Grunfeld. Why even criticize Tommy Sheppard?
Ted Leonsis
He’s gonna be a billionaire either way. This is his toy.

Re: Bradley Beal - Part IV
Just pathetic, but was there really any doubt despite are painfully misguided, desperate hope that ownership would suddenly and miraculously start to make good decisions?
Only hope is Beal forces our hand and we trade him midway through this season, which would force the team to tank (though they still may fight it). Only reason this franchise had a couple decent years mid-2010s is because we got 3 top 3 picks in 4 years. Then again they then proceeded to trade away their next 4 first round draft picks.
This franchise has really just morphed in a glorified dais for Leonsis. Him and his cronies would fade out of everyone's memory if he didn't have a court side perch to sit at every game. Don't for a second think that this is not his only option that allows him to preen as "part of the community" and get some fluffy PR pieces in the local media.
I pray for avid Nats fan this greasy cretin gets nowhere near that franchise.

It’s been real guys. Truly the smartest fanbase in the league with the dumbest front office/ownership. I’ll be back when we ultimately package Beta Beal and a first rounder to a contender to get out of this ridiculous contract. Honestly infuriated over this. Ted Tommy and Beal don’t care about winning AT ALL.

Re: Bradley Beal - Part IV
The most another team could have offered Beal was $185 million over the next four seasons.
The question is whether his performance will warrant a $250 million investment over the next five seasons.
