Better run grab your Thievery Corp tix now. They are going to sell out a week's worth of shows like last time they rocked the 9:30...

I'm late to the party on this one, but I'm diggin' Neon Indian's album. It's a modern take on 80's synth pop.

Another re-introduction for many I'm sure. But, the car I was in the other night was cranking the latest album from the band deemed "New York City's Loudest Band." Figured, since the modern face of noise/shoegaze hadn't been repped here, I'd add some APTBS. Great speeding and weaving music...

Always been a huge fan of the "Wavin' Flag." One of the best "freedom" anthems since Bob. I only wish Ziggy could write that well.

theyve already sold out 4 with one remaining (last i looked). i just cant decide whether to go see thievery at the 930 or people under the stairs at the RnR hotel.

I love People's flow. But, if you're askin' me, I'm hittin' Thievery. They put on a great show (thus the selling out). Speaking of RnR hotel, one of my ex-girls lives a couple blocks from there and we are hitting a band called Woods there.

ideally it'd be both (and if i had just gottn Thievery tickets for wed when i first saw them add it). id rather see theivery but im leanin towards PUST just because thievery has a local show more often and im romanticizing the idea of seeing PUST at a small venue, unfortunately my indecisiveness will probably lead to not being able to go to either show because they both sell out.

CALLING ALL FREAKS. Ok, just like my movie challenge, I have a music sudoku. I'm making a CD for my girl. Problem is, she's your typical hipster who knows damn near everything about music. But, she's really into the quirky bands and songs. She digs the rjd2, Lemon Jelly, Magnetic Fields, Neon Indian, idiosyncratic type music. She also digs the chill hiphop -- Basehead, Busdriver, K'naan, etc Anything with cryptic lyrics and/or complex melodies. So, besides those mentioned in this thread, I need the most obscure indie songs that I can actually download. I need a bunch of "Jesus was way cool"s or "Should have taken acid with you"s or... You get the deal. Hipster tunes that few people know. Please help.

How do you think she's respond if you slipped that on to the mix?

@barely:

Give this one a try.. Its one of my favorite songs (of any genre) of the last couple years and it gets no burn at all. Also, it does happen to fall into the "indie" category, but its got a killer beat, too.

woolfy: oh missy
http://hypem.com/track/553399/Woolfy+-+Oh+Missy

I have lots more cool ish that would be less likely to be classified as "indie" if that helps.

Nicely done, Mort. And don't mistake my misuse of "indie." I'll take any f'ed up tune anyone has. I just want tunes that will surprise her because she probably hasn't heard them and are... you know... quirky. I'm throwing on a tight mos def tune recorded in London hoping she's never heard it. So, yeah anything unusual... Pile on.

jesus dude that's gonna be a tall order. considering you already know more obscure stuff than most of us...

anyway, all i can potentially think of are

Hater - Who Do I Kill
You might remember the band from high school. it was the bassist from soundgarden's (i think) side project. it's real hard to find. i think i found it on emule a few years ago. you would definitely like it. dont know how to describe it, morphine without the sax?

Onra - The Anthem
french hip hop producer mixing traditional vietnamese music over hip hop beats

london funk all stars - the 6 million
dated but still good ninja tune (heck just go to the ninja tune website and see what they got).

the herbaliser
see above

no more time for now. there was something else i was looking for but cant remember the exact name.

Wasn't as hard as you thought, Bannd. I frigging love your choices. And the Steve Austin stuff actually helped twofold in that I'm using it in my movie script. Thanks.
