For the umpteenth time, tonight I'll go to sleep saying I'm through with this bushleague franchise and their horrible GM. Tomorrow I'll wake up (god willing) and still be a Wizards fan. A glutten for punishment I am.

I'm still in shock about tonight's events, though I don't know why I'd be surprised by anthing they do at this point.

Ernie's announcement tomorrow morning:

Selling the 2nd round pick was an Obama-approved bailout stimulus for the remaining 25 Washington Wizards fans in the world, who will each receive $100,000.

The good news will be that they are honoring Cuppy Coffee at the first game of the season for winning so many Dunkin Donuts races.

I said the same thing last year after we sold Bill Walker ut I just couldn't push myself to do it. After this however I might do the same thing. And like I said in an earlier post, I'll come back when Ted Leonsis owns this team. If Abe thinks he can win another championship, which he's said he wants, he's not gonna do it by consistently making these kinds of moves.

Spend a mint on two players who can't defend and **** away your draft picks. I think Abe's been talking to Danny

Sure they could have, but realistically, how many of us actually thought Rubio would fall to no. 5?

To me the risk far outweighed the potential benefits and I'd rather add two NBA ready vets than sit there with my thumb up my butt trying to field reasonable offers for the likes of Thabeet, DeRozan, Jennings, Hill and Harden.

There's no way Washington would have netted Miller and Foye for any of those guys.

Let's see...everyone knew Blake was going #1; most experts said Memphis would go with Thabeet. Experts also said that OKC needed more of a SG than a point guard with Westbrook on the roster and all the reports over the last week showed Rubio slipping and Evans gaining ground. I thought there was a very decent chance Rubio would have slipped to 5, or at least Evans. Listen, I don't think Rubio is a good fit for this team and I would have wanted to trade him if we picked him. However, I think either Evans or Rubio could have netted us something better than what we got from Minn. And, if it didn't, we still could have received what we got from Minn.

Anyway, its water over the bridge. I'd would like to even bitch more about just giving away the second pick for cash, but why waste the breath.

I hope Ernie walks out with Ashton Kutcher tomorrow and announces we've all been punked; the Wizards actually traded for Chris Bosh weeks ago.

Taken from today's Washington Times:

Well, that's that. The Wizards took Jermaine Taylor out of Central Florida and delt him to Houston for cash. The obvious thinking is that they have a veteran team and a 32nd pick wouldn't help them right now, so why draft him and have him stuck on the end of the bench and paying not only his salary but matching it dollar-for-dollar in a luxury tax payment?

The surprise, however, is that Pittsburgh's DeJuan Blair slid all the way to the second round and the Wizards had a chance to take him -- a move that would've met the need for an additional big body -- but didn't.

Grunfeld actually was rather humorous when speaking with the media after the 32nd pick was made, but before the trade took place.

I asked him what the thinking was and he said "I like guards. The more the better," then laughed. I asked, obviously you're gonna move the pick, right? And he admitted that "there probably will be some news in the morning." Turns out two minutes later, Grunfeld and Co. finalized their deal with Houston to snag some cash in exchange for Taylor.

The Wizards at some point this summer -- whether it's through free agency or trade -- need to address that big man deficiency. We'll see what happens ...

Smartest team in the draft: (Aside from the Clippers) Oklahoma City. Their Five of the Future is now set. Harden should be a great fit at shooting guard, and Mullens gives them the shot-blocking center they need to complement Durant, Green and Westbrook.

Dumbest team: Minnesota Timberwolves for drafting four point guards. They traded Ty Lawson away, but for a future pick. Way to have four first-rounders and not legitimately help yourself get better.

Don't get mad about us selling another pick that never would have seen the court. Get mad if we are silent the rest of the summer.
