I'm awake, I'm awake, everyone settle down.

WojYahooNBA Milwaukee has a three-way deal with Charlotte and Sacramento, sources say.

No idea what that would be, but I don't think it affects us.

It's kind of an awkward group with two cheapskates and some real money losers and bad contract holders. The Bucks and Bobs don't have a lot of trade pieces in particular (except that 19th pick).

CHA gets Bad Porn + the 7th. MIL gets Jackson and Livingston, since they plan to "contend" right now. Dunno what SAC gets.

You know you had problems when you bring in Stephen Jackson for chemistry purposes.

RT @chadfordinsider: Bucks get Beno, Stephen Jackson, Shaun Livingston & 19. Bobcats get pick 7 & Maggette. Kings get 10 & John Salmons.

I read that CHA keeps the 9. No way the Bucks should be able to move up to 9, acquire the 19, and acquire Jackson all for essentially Maggette.

Charlotte now has the 7th and 9th pick.

Kings have the 10th pick.

Bucks have the 19th pick.

Only difference is Bucks moved out of the lottery. I can see Bobcats going with Biyombo/Thompson, Kings move down 3 spots and still take Jimmer.

I like it a lot for Charlotte, though. They snookered in here and now have the 7th and 9th picks without losing anything important.

Edit --> I don't understand how Salmons is worth more than Beno, especially bringing the contracts into it.

Yeah, Hoop. Not sure how they moved from SJax's contract to Maggette's shorter contract and moved up 12 spots.

Yeah, pretty much. From a Bucks perspective, they went from 10 down to 19 in the draft so that they could trade Maggette and Salmons for Beno and Stephen Jackson and maybe Livingston (I didn't realize he was in the deal.). I think the real reason they did it was because they regret giving Salmons a 5 year deal last offseason. Maggette, Jackson, and Beno all have 2 more years left on their deals. I like Livingston being included - for the Bucks - but he's one false move away from having to retire.

I would have gladly taken Maggette for the 7th and gave up the 18th. Oh well.

I guess I'm thinking it's a semi-respectable "back in the playoffs and out in the first" move for Milwaukee. That's kind of where they are and this probably gets their offense from 30th to being in contention for 20th. That's something.

It's a nice value plumbing rebuild move for Charlotte which suggests a certain direction.

It stinks for Sacramento. I guess they have history with Salmons, but, eh......

Honestly, at this point I thought our prospects for Kanter would be dead, but we still seem to be in the mix.

Hmm. With Sac out of the Jimmer race at 7, how much leverage do we lose with Utah? >.<

Edit: I missread who gets the #10. Hmm. That might give us MORE leverage, actually. Because Sac could absolutely take him at 10, AND they cleared out a PG.... nice!

Vesely... :nonono:

Why doesn't Grunfeld ever do anything other than stay pat and take his "BPA"? The guy is so boxed-in with his approach to drafts. He needs to think outside the box and take a risk every now and then. Everything is so safe with the guy. Never tries to move up, but he'll trade a lotto pick for Mike Miller. I don't get it.

I generally agree with your point of view here, except that in this particular case, it's not potentially happening this way because Ernie is a boxed in thinker, it appears to be happening this way because Ernie wants the draft to come to him because he's got three big guys he wants if his #1 guy is off the board, and as long as a point, or a surprise guy goes in the top 5 that isn't Irving, or Williams, he's going to get the guy he wants.

Essentially, it sounds like Kantner, Jonas and Vesely are all ranked virtually identically on the Wizards draft board, if they are, that explains the disinterest in mortgaging McGee, or the 6 and 18 for a guy that they see as virtually no different in value to Vesely or Jonas. This all could change if no point, or strange guy gets picked between 2, and 5, and all the big 3 are selected before 6, in which case clearly Ernie's bummed, and the question is, would that situation (almost certainly predicated between decisions at 3 or 5) stimulate a deal up, a deal down, or an acceptance of the fall back of Leonard or TT at 6?

That's awesome. He does look like an ostrich!

edit:How long does each team have to make it's selection? What time do you guys think we'll pick.

edit of edit:
I don't know if this has already been posted, but the NBA wiretap has an article stating that the Cavs are trying to add a pick in the 1st to wind up with Thompson, Valanciunas and Irving. I rather like that young core.

The Cavaliers are attempting to acquire a third lottery pick, according to sources.

Cleveland owns a $14.5 million trade exception and are trying to entice either the Kings or Pistons to unload their first round pick in exchange for a bad contract.

The Cavaliers would like to end the day with Kyrie Irving, Tristan Thompson and Jonas Valanciunas.

per Chad Ford

Have fun tonight guys.

I am geographical single parent and have to take my daughter to a birthday party. So I'll miss the draft.

May members of this board - and the Washington Wizards - have a great evening.
