The dominance of the US women's gymnastics team is amazing to watch. I can't remember a team so dominant since the original Dream Team.

I'm banned as well. I said "muthaphukkaz".

There's been a rash of posters sending nasty IM's to mods (happened to me with a psychotic Bucks fan who rarely posted), and Howard's looking to stop that. My guess is that if you clear any concerns about that up, your odds go up.

DVR works well to avoid all advertising although you would have to sacrifice watching events live.

I admittedly tore into Tsherkin (while not cursing him somehow) but only after I got suspended and banned from the GB for saying a 76ers fan should know about rebuilding. How in the world do you suspend & ban a person for that? I was pretty much daring him to give me a board-wide ban after that. It doesn't surprise me that mods have been getting nasty IMs. How can yo expect to hold posters accountable when some of these mods aren't held accountable (not putting you in that group, I know your A paper

Dude, return my PM. You and I can key T-Jerkin's car. He permanently banned me for saying "muthaphukkaz". Even our based god, Punished Nate, could not reverse the ban.

Ftr, I did make it very clear to Howard and the mods that I disagreed with your ban. Probably the only good thing I've done as a mod.

Maybe next Summer Olympics she switches to one of the strokes. I mean - she's dominated free style like Einstein dominated science (well, somebody already used the Dream Team analogy, so...). Give her a challenge.

Good to see Papelbon gone from Nats. Although have to give him credit for good behavior this year. He's done. Be surprised if he gets another chance.

Ledecky is awesome, but she's so good that it took much of the drama out. Total domination.
I really enjoyed watching Maya DiRado. Her victory in 200 back over Katinka Hosszu was the best race of the Olympics.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread Part 4
Let's take a moment to contemplate Michael Phelps' accomplishments:
There is a 4-way tie for the 2nd-winningest Olympian, between Carl Lewis, Mark Spitz, Larisa Latynina and Paavo Nurmi. Each of them have 9 gold medals. Michael Phelps has 23 freakin' gold medals! His career is almost as good as the next 3 best Olympic careers combined! Seriously, how in the world is that record ever going to get broken?
This Olympics was supposed to be merely a swan song for Phelps. He is 31 years old and well past his prime; yet, he managed to win 5 more golds and a silver. He won more hardware in 2016 than anyone from any country! His performance this year alone would rank as one of the top 10 Olympics by anyone... ever!
He is the only person in history to win an event in 4 consecutive Olympics (200 IM). At age 31, he almost broke the world record in 200 I.M. (It was his own record, set during the ultra fast era in 2008 when full length racing suits were permitted.) He briefly became the oldest swimmer ever to win a gold medal in an individual event. (That record was promptly broken by Anthony Ervin's 50 Free.) He was also the youngest American male to make the Olympic roster (in 2000, at age 15).
It sounds like he is planning on retiring, but he has proven before that he can take a year off and still get back to elite form. I wonder if he'll make another run. He crushed everyone in 200IM this year. He could probably win it again. And he can probably remain one of the top 4 freestylers from the U.S. team so he can make 2 relay teams.

I'm thinking more along the lines of how many minutes could I last with either, pine. I get tired just watching Katie Ledecky swim.

What I love the most is he went out in style...
Said he couldn't wait to hold his baby son. After all the gold medals, seemed exceptionally content with the three-way tie silver medal. He even hugged the rival dude he tried to get into his head. Dude was stalker weird--I forget the name. Phelps' teammates and even the other kid he beat have been inspired by him. Ledecky took a picture with him many years ago as like an 8-year old. Schooling is a Phelps protege.
I love that Phelps stayed in the game long enough to get past personal demons from 2012. He could have quit then, when he wasn't loving the work he had to put in to stay on top. Yet, he got his life together and still came back and kicked ass in 2016.
Phelps is the darned godfather of swimming.

Michael Phelps is to Ryan Lochte as Superman is to Bizarro. https://sports.yahoo.com/news/report-ryan-lochte-u-s-swimmers-fabricated-armed-robbery-story-140805637.html?nhp=1
Assuming ABC is right, Lochte and his crew should at minimum be banned from all future international competition. What a disappointment.
