The problem is the same it's always been, it's the trenches stupid.

Throwing more money at skill positions is going to get us much of the same.

Connorly has seemed sub-par but maybe he gets better next season (he had a critical holding call that ultimately still lead to the Commanders scoring in that Broncos game). Texans seem to be doing relatively fine without Tunsil although it seems to be largely because of their defense and they also have a dependable running game.

Right now the Commanders/Giants game would be critical in terms of locking in a top 5 draft pick. And maybe they can recoup some of the their draft picks in trade downs.

On a side note.
QBs such as Sam Ehlinger, Mitch turbisky, Taylor Heinicke, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Still on the market the colts call

The problem with Connerly, is that our OC picked him, not AP. AP famously showed off the note Kliff gave him that said "Connerly" on it. Another reason I am unsure of AP's future.

Imo connerly has done pretty well for a rookie tackle. Denver is probably the best defense we've faced all season and he had a 77 pff grade against them.

Crazy play by the Giants after the commanders fumble.

The Master said, "Is not Reciprocity such a word? What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others."

Probably a win that costs them a top 3 pick and being able to trade down and still stay in the top 10.

Yea I just don't get why this team always feels the need to win meaningless games that cost them draft positioning. So stupid.

Nix and Maye better than JD5 from the 2024 draft.

The win vs the giants was awesome. All the old vets on one year deals lead to the victory. The younger guys got to watch the veteran leadership from the sideline. Aim for the 15th pick!!

I wouldn't say that was a positive showing. Despite having success running the ball I wasn't very impressed with the offense. Usually when you are successful running the ball then you have a lot of confidence in what the offense can do. But it just felt unimaginative anytime we were in obvious passing situations. 3rd down success was bad.

This is seeming like an offense that limits the QB. I'm not calling for less running, but we've got nothing outside of that and the tools are okay. Not great, not terrible. I haven't dug into the all 22 enough to really break it down.

Nixon not better thanJD5

Maye is a franchise QB no doubt but half the league got injured this year and JD5 took this dog shi team to the nfc champ game last year. Offense was never a full go this season. Let’s make some judgment in season 3. Nix struggled against our terrible defense and is a glorified game manager just like Caleb.

Most of the issues with this team this year had nothing to do with JD.

JD has issues but that's mostly the staff and how they developed him and how the front office treated that fluke of a season.

He has every tool he needs to be a successful NFL QB but if they treat him like a finished product right now.... He might fail.

I don't fault the team for seeing if they could keep their run from last year going, especially since they did it without hamstringing the cap longterm. Now that they've come back down to earth, they can rebuild properly.

The one thing do I wish they'd done is move some guys at the deadline to recoup picks. Getting a mid-round pick for Daron Payne would have been a solid move IMO.

I 1000 percent fault them! That's a stupid ass strategy. The toaster oven is always better than the microwave!

I kind of feel bad for Sam hartman. Does he absolutely suck. Yes. Is he a ever gonna be more than a PS good locker room guy? No. But he's been here the team needs to loose lol. Let the guy have a few regular season starts, so he can tell his kids he played the cow boys on Christmas day.

Texans fans thought the sky was falling with Stroud last year too. Give it time. Barring an RG3 situation (knock on wood 3x), JD will figure it out himself. He might have to take a longer path to get there, and will have to reach out to guys on his own but he'll get there. You can blame coaching and management all you want, but he is the franchise qb, and if he wants to win, he'll have to be the change he wants. I think Stroud is a great guy to reach out to. I just saw an IG reel of Dak organizing the players to donate to support staff for christmas bonuses. These little things that he can soak up and become an institution and last in the league.
