I just want the Appreciation Thread to be family friendly. A player should be able to read nice things about themself there. Same for a coach, GM, etc. Those should be happy places in cyberspace IMO.

I should invent a BFF thread. :)

Ok lets stay on point as this is the trade thread. lol

Anyways here's my latest for thought. Prob unlikely, but since it appears Billups is lost for season, how about Young and Singleton for Butler.

Why for Clips? They are contenders this year and with Billups down, they are gonna sorely miss a SG that can know down the outside shot. Young would get alot of opens looks on that team and not have to worry about being the man so I think he would flourish. Also, he's money at home in LA. Singleton would be chip to make the trade work.

Why for Wiz? We most likely weren't gonna sign Young for the long term contract he was banking on so atleast we get back a starting veteran SF who would be a great 3rd option on this team. Tough Juice comes home to his family and gives this team the veteran leadership and toughness it lacks as well as production from the SF position we've missed. He's only signed for 2 more years at $8m/yr. I figure we were going to have to cough that up anyways in the offseason to land an FA SF like Batum or Chandler but there is no guarantee we get them.

Maybe McGee has been reading that thread and thats the reason he's been off lately as you note. : )

Keep it real simple:

McGee & Crawford for Williams.

Minny gets the young athletic center they wanted to pair with Love and the Wiz gets a young, versatile forward that can actually score some points.

This is much better trade IMO than dealing McGee for a pick so we can draft Tyler Zeller.

I think Williams can definitely be had. Do you think DWill is a better prospect than Robinson/Sully/Barnes? I wonder if it would be worth trading our pick for him assuming we pick in the 4-6 range.

I don't think they'd want Vesely since they already have so many fowards, but McGee+Crawford for Williams is a decent starting point IMO. Maybe swap Turiaf's expiring for either Darko or Pekovic to sweeten the deal?

Looking at an even bigger picture, I would love to get a package of Williams+Johnson+Ridnour, but I don't know that we'd have the assets to get that done.

Yes it is, but the only way this trade goes down is if no one on the MIN staff has been watching McGee the last 10 games or so.

Derrick Williams is 20 and making demands. The Timberwolves have a lot of PFs. Love, Randolph, Beasley, Tolliver. Derrick Williams can score but he's not a great rebounder. I liked him a lot at draft but now I'm not as high on him.

I would rather have a pick from this draft.

I'd love to trade MCGee for Williams, but even without his recent run of crappitude, he's never been the type of center that fits Adelman's offense. He likes a high post 5 that can pass a little.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

I've only seen him one game and highlights. How's he do as SF? Could he play with Sullinger/Robinson if we don't use a pick to get him?

Butler has regained some of his game since leaving Washington, but his last years here were toxic, and he is vastly overpaid right now. I would never give up a recent first round selection for the right to take on his terribad contract... especially because if he isn't on a winner, he goes straight into me-first mode.

Just say no.

^ Yeah, pass on re-acquiring Butler. The Billups injury does mean they need backcourt help, so they might be interested in Young, but a team like NJ would have more to offer for Young IMO.

I'd be all over McGee/Crawford for Williams.

Trade two boneheads for a high I.Q star in the making? Yes please.

In a peace offering to CCJ after hammering McGee repeatedly, if we don't land Anthony Davis, what about Cousins for our 2012 1st and McGee? I know I will get hammered for this, but check out the stats Cousins has been posting of late.

omik wrote:His past two games: 28/19 with 3 blocks and 21/20 with 2 blocks.

Average over the past 10 games: 17.6 pts / 13.9 rbs / 1.1 blocks in only 32.9 minutes per game.

He is looking incredibly patient and skilled within the paint and is beginning to progress greatly under the guidance of Keith Smart.

I really don't think Drummond, Beal, PJIII, Sullinger, or Barnes are going to be better than Cousins.

I make that trade in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, Minnesota laughs at in a heartbeat if it's offered. Look at the contracts. Williams is much more likely to be an outstanding player, and he's going to be much cheaper for the next 3 seasons. You gotta include at least Vesely and hope they're one of the teams that liked him and hasn't seen him shoot foul shots. Crawford has marginal trade value.

monte, I haven't seen Williams at SF, either. Judging by his comments he is uncomfortable making the adjustment. Adelman has been playing Wesley Johnson and, since he returned from injury, Michael Beasley, at SF. The fact is, Derrick Williams isn't playing because Rick Adelman has better/preferred options at SF instead of Williams.

Derrick Williams speaking out could be like Eli Manning not wanting to be a Charger (had he been drafted and kept there); or, it could be a young guy who has a sense of entitlement. I don't really like hearing from him about playing time. Ricky Rubio is playing. Ridnour was playing until Barrea came back. Adelman likes other guys at SF. Love is THE power forward. Pekovic has been pushing Darko at C. Minnesota is at .500, and IMO playoff-bound. Even Anthony Randolph can block shots and rebound better than Williams. So, I wonder about Derrick Williams' apparent frustration. Is he killing those guys in practice?

Derrick Williams might have just been commenting because tonight with Kevin Love suspended he gets a chance to play his natural position. Or, he might be just the type guy the Wizards DO NOT need.

The real question is how would he be at SF for the Wiz?

WOW, someone offered Curry+Biedrins+Lee for McGee+Lewis on the trade board. I'd throw in Vessley if that trade had any real chance of happening.

Wiz Lineup would be
PG: Wall/Curry
SG: Curry/Crawford
SF: Singleton/Evans
PF: Lee/Booker
C: Biedrins/Blatche

Now hope you get Davis/Drummond in the draft. If not, maybe then trade down and take Barnes.

Or better yet, see what a Blatche+Curry deal would fetch on the open market. Minny would easily trade Derrick Williams+Miller (exp) for Curry+Blatche.

Biedrins for his contract is lazy and an underachiever. David Lee gets paid more than Kevin Love. As much as I like Seth Curry, I don't like that deal at all. GS amnesties Lewis and gets just what they need at C. They dump salary and have Udoh and McGee inside defending. It seems good for the Wizards but I don't think it is, salary wise.

I would rather wait and bid on Hibbert, Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon, etc.

I disagree CCJ, say the Wiz hit a homer and get Anthony Davis. I'd want to win now, so I'd trade Curry+Blatche+Vessley+Seraphin+Turiaf for Emeka+Gordon+Ariza and sign Gordon to an extension.

New lineup:
PG: Wall/Mack
SG: Gordon/Crawford
SF: Ariza/Singleton
PF: Lee/Booker
C: Emeka/Davis

That team has shooters (Gordon, Ariza, Lee), good vet players (Emeka), and Davis.
