The NRA news today seems like a pretty huge deal that will ultimately implicate a number of high level Republicans. I think there's a pretty good chance the NRA won't exist in the near future.

Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona is warning in his farewell address that the "threats to our democracy from within and without are real."
Flake is perhaps the most vocal Republican critic of President Donald Trump in the Senate. While Flake did not mention Trump in his speech Thursday, he said that describing the state of the nation's politics as "not healthy is something of an understatement."
Flake also warned about global events, saying that Russia's President Vladimir Putin is determined to hijack democracies. He said the U.S. should recognize that, as "authoritarianism reasserts itself in country after country that we are by no means immune."
Flake declined to seek re-election to a second term, acknowledging his battles with Trump made it unlikely that he could survive a primary challenge.

Yeah it's incredible how dumb you'd have to be to uncritically accept what he's saying there. Just loony toons level nonsense.

https://www.aclu.org/blog/free-speech/rights-protesters/congress-trying-use-spending-bill-criminalize-boycotts-israel-andAccording to recent reports, congressional leaders from both sides of the aisle are planning to sneak a bill criminalizing politically motivated boycotts of Israel into the end-of-the-year omnibus spending bill.
The bill’s original sponsor, Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.), is pushing Democratic leadership to include this bill, which has not moved forward thus far primarily because it violates the First Amendment. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) are reportedly leaning toward slipping the text into the spending bill, which needs to pass for the government to stay open.
The ACLU has long opposed the Israel Anti-Boycott Act through its multiple iterations because the bill would make it a crime to participate in political boycotts protected by the First Amendment. Now, the bill’s sponsors are attempting to avoid public scrutiny by including the bill’s unconstitutional criminal penalties in must-pass legislation scheduled for a vote just days before Congress’ holiday recess — likely because it will be harder to pass in the new Congress.
This is Unbelievable!!!! Just goes to show you the power of the 1st or 2nd most powerful lobby, the NRA and AIPAC get their way on Capital Hill
