He is the second best player on a play off team and he is not happy. That is not good, and we need to fix the problem. That problem is probably 92% Wittman.

wow. Gortat pretty much throwing Nene under the bus..

http://www.monumentalnetwork.com/videos/marcin-gortat-4-7-15

Gortat pretty much lobbying for Gooden to be out there with him.

One of these days we are going to get the inside skinning on what's going on in the locker room.

I suspect its about what I was posting about earlier.

Hammer wants to win and he doesn't see having him and Nene out there as the best formula. And he is right on most occasions.

Coach Randy Wittman, point guard John Wall, and shooting guard Bradley Beal all agreed that Gortat’s offensive prowess – he scored 23 points on 10 of 11 shooting along with 14 rebounds – was predicated on his willingness to dive to the basket off pick-and-rolls and his ability to finish at the rim. Gortat concurred that he is at his best rolling to the basket off screens, but the center emphasized he didn’t play any differently than he usually does.

"They were passing me the ball," Gortat said bluntly. "I was doing the same thing I’m doing every single game and they were just passing the game."

Tonight he shot 8-9 FG.

The Machine Marcin has worked his way up to top 10 in WAR

Marcin was top 3 last year in WAR and RPM.

No reason he shouldn't have been that again this year.

People here don't talk like it but, Marcin really is one of the best centers in the league as of today. Maybe not the best prospect but if you want to win right now, Gortat would be on your short list.

Add Wall, one of the best PGs, and you should be able to make some noise with that. If you had a coach that got that and focused the starting line up around that, we would have won more this year and could have reached 50-52 wins. Hell, as it is, they still have 49 wins with in their reach though it more likely they end up at 47.

This team is better then their record. Don't get distracted by missed picks and older player that won't be here long term. Focus in on the Wall and Gortat combination. If you open the floor, that nasty hard to stop and they can defend to post and the perimeter.

More people are finally taking notice of how to maximize Wall and Gortat.

Nene told m twisted rt ankle tonight. Fasciitis flared up too. Looks likely to sit again

Nene was back in the starting lineup after resting for three games and complaining about a sore right shoulder, but the 7-footer had little impact. He limped out of the locker room after getting just six points and two rebounds in 19 minutes.

"Everything is hurt," Nene, who already has missed time with a soft-tissue irritation in the right foot, told CSNwashington.com. "Now I twist my ankle. Just one more thing to happen."

There has been so much attention on Pierce and Porter than I don't think Gortat is getting enough love. So far in the playoffs, Gortat is averaging 16 points, 10 boards, 2.3 assists, 2.3 blocks in 32 minutes per game. Per 36, that's 18/11/3/3. Oh yeah, he's shooting 70% from the field and he is posting a DRtg of 96.

+1. He's been excellent and as his DRtg suggest he's played great defense, particularly on Jonas V. Even when Jonas has made buckets he's had to fight and expend lots of energy. It felt like Gortat had a quiet 24 points 13 rebounds 5 assist and 4 blocks last night.

Gortat has had a real strong second half of the season. It's almost like he shaved that mohawk and he got serious with his game. He may never live up to that paycheck, but I'm glad we re-signed him. Not many teams have a center who is so agile and can shoot with both hands. As good as Ariza is, we did the right thing go with a solid 6-11 center over a 6-8 wing defender who can hit a 3.

I chuckle and roll my eyes a bit at the notion that Gortat is now earning a paycheck that he wasn't before. He's simply being put in a position to succeed.

To echo what Dwane Casey was trying to say about the Wizards small lineup -- it's not so much about Pierce as it is about what Pierce's abilities allows others to do.

Offensively, as nate alluded to, the spread floor plays to March's strengths. He's phenomenal in the pick and roll; he has incredibly soft hands for a guy so big, and he's got great and quick touch around the basket.

But Gortat's real value -- that is hardly ever discussed -- is on defense. Remember, he anchored the 5th best defense in the league. The small lineup works because of Gortat's combo of strength, quickness, and smarts. He's blocking and contesting shots at the rim and also keeping oxen like Jonas from getting too deep of position. You can't go small without a great anchor in the middle; otherwise your D gets completely carved up.

Yes, the real test will come against a tough squad like Atlanta. Horford has his way with Gortat this season, but now the money is on the line, so we'll see. But so far Gortat is a stud. The new CBA means that his contract will not only never likely be a problem, but it may just turn into a bargain.

You guys realize that the salary cap is going to be ~$100mil in a few years

Gortat is easily worth that 12mil/yr now, it's not even debatable honestly. And if he declines at any point we can easily trade him.

He is a PnR player. If you aren't using this that way, then you are wasting his talent and your money.

Sounds like he tried to adjust but as he says... Its not working..

http://www.monumentalnetwork.com/videos/marcin-gortat-shootaround-2-2-15"

I suspect we see some more PnR tonight.

He is the same Gortat we had last year.
Effort is not something I worry about when it comes to Gortat. He isn't a contract year player.
Glad he got to talk it out with the coach and other players.

Lets see if that helps. They need to get Gortat going. Feed the dude already. This is just stupid.

This team has to stop changing player to fit Randy. Our offense under performs. Its on Randy to maximize their skills by adapting and offense. If they didn't want a PnR center, then they shouldn't have signed him.

Head out of ass Randy. Snap Snap.

http://www.monumentalnetwork.com/videos/marcin-gortat-shootaround-2-2-15"

Remember when this was going on. "Some things just don't work for me"

They were using him properly. Then got away from Hammer PnR.

When they got back to it and feeding him more, that when we saw him produce more. And when he is involved, he bring more defense. We always had this Gortat. But centers are not PG. They need to be feed the rock.

Note from last game. Loved watching those early Nene to Gortat and Gortat to Nene passes. Seems these two are finding some better harmony. Just feel like that are better getting on the same page.

Now next series against ATL(if we get there), it might be Nene they need to lean on more at center. We will have to see how that works out. Hordford is a tough match up.

6' 10", 250 shooting 12-18 ft.. that might be a better cover for Nene.

But against CLE, back to Gortat. It actually awesome to have both if they can use them the right way and they buy into it.

How many centers have been better than Marcin Gortat this year? I can't name 10.

Cousins
Duncan
Jordan
Horford
M.Gasol

Who else?

You can make a case for:
P.Gasol
Howard
Gobert
Chandler

Gasol is weak on the defensive end. Howard hasn't played much. Gobert isn't much on offense. Chandler is a real low usage player on offense. They all have an argument over Gortat, but it's not a sure thing.

I don't count Whiteside who only plays half the game and for just half the season. Bogut and Drummond are solid, but I don't think they've been as good as Gortat.

Gotta say, dude plays like a superstar in the playoffs. And that's when everything matters the most. I would kill to have a Center like Gortat. You guys should be happy to have him. I remember watching him against my team in the playoffs when he was with the Magics. I always thought that the guy had great potential, and he's proven me right.

During last year's Bulls series, I absentmindedly ragged on Gortat for a lackluster game and posited that maybe we should consider other options. I was promptly corrected - either by miller or nate - and told to look at the numbers. I did. And then I paid attention to his performance in the "little things" - the defense, the boxing out, the consistency. Came to love Gortat's game, day in and day out. Very workmanlike. This season, my wife has turned into a novice basketball fan, and a few games ago, she asked me, "Why don't they just give the ball to March most of the time? He almost always makes it." I didn't have a good answer other than, "Well, he's not always open and err..."

So all that said, I've been a little bit concerned about his comments and demeanor in the second half of the season. He seems to be fed up with not only the organization, not only with Witt's witlessness, but also with his fellow teammates: Q - "Why'd you have a good game?" A - "They passed me the ball." etc... Is anyone else a little worried about this for the long run? It doesn't really seem to affect his in-game play, but locker room discord is not what you want to see from a rising team. Am I just watching too many post game interviews, or do we have a little bit of an issue here?

Regardless, loved what he did during this series. I really can't argue with him if he thinks we should be running more offense through him. I can't argue with him if he feels he's not getting enough credit on D and on the boards. Just hope that his relationship with the team isn't deteriorating to the point that it might cause issues going forward.
