Just curious if this passes or laugh test - there is currently ~ $1.5T in student debt alone. There are about 15M enrolled in higher education today. Even if the average costs are 20K per student you are talking 300B per year. Our current budget is ~3T so you are talking 10% of the budget. (if you want to use 15K then use $225M)

Why they use the smaller number is that they would create a federal (unfunded) mandate for states. But that money is coming from somewhere.

This is how Bernie routinely stretches the truth.

You fail to acknowledge the pure politics of the Senate not taking up the bill because Republicans know that if more people can vote they lose elections. So what should Nancy Pelosi should have done that would get Mitch McConnell to take a vote on the legislation?

I’m still trying to figure out exactly what about this legislation the Senate doesn’t like.

https://www.vox.com/platform/amp/2019/3/8/18253609/hr-1-pelosi-house-democrats-anti-corruption-mcconnell

Read all 3 of the major planks of HR1 and really there’s no reason why the Senate couldn’t address the problems with it. The reality is that Republicans hate Democracy and are often on the wrong side of the corruption equation. There’s no reason that the debate couldn’t happen in the Senate but it’s par the course for how Republicans in Congress operate.

Yeah, Ohio looks like Trump country at this point.

Otoh, PA looks good.

Very well spoken and insightful guy with a lot of good ideas. But let’s be honest this guy has no chance in the primary. Hopefully some of his ideas get picked up by whoever wins the primary because the freedom dividend sounds like a very intriguing idea. I always wonder why people don’t try to implement their ideas on a local level by being a mayor or governor, gaining experience and building their name as opposed to jumping into a Presidential race then never being heard from again.

There are many, but I will pick just one for you.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/1/text#toc-H7017B4835A9D4225B2A92572432A38B9

The institution will ensure that an appropriate staff person or office is designated publicly as a ‘Campus Vote Coordinator’ and will ensure that such person’s or office’s contact information is included on the institution’s website.

That is a significant financial burden - especially for small schools.

And we know by putting this one in, they were never serious about pushing this specific piece of legislation through.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/1/text#toc-H8EADFC7553124B4CAB7D77B5D2C7EEBA

This is the vilification of donor legislation - we may both agree with it - but there is good reason that the Rs in the Senate wouldn't consider the legislation.

I think there are pieces and parts that would fly through, like Sec. 1001. and Sec. 1002. Use of Internet to update registration information.

I like that this election is about getting ideas out there... I hope the good ones float to the top and the stupid ones sink quickly.

Interesting...
At the heart of Beyond Carbon is the conviction that, as the science has made clear, every year matters. The idea of a Green New Deal — first suggested by the columnist Tom Friedman more than a decade ago — stands no chance of passage in the Senate over the next two years. But Mother Nature does not wait on our political calendar, and neither can we.

nobody knows?? here...let me help. about 131 million as opposed to 158 million in 2018. wow!!!!

2007 you ask?? about 150 million!!

obama lost all of those jobs and didn't get back to 150 million until 2017!! obama's 8 year average was about 135 million jobs. Trump's 2 year average is 154 million. And climbing!! thats why wages are climibing!!

Under obama we had "reverse immigration." AKA more people leaving!!

Under trump more people are coming!!!!!! And trump is still keeping everyone employed at record rates!!! Wages are rising for the first time in 20 years under trump!!!!

Bottom line? Its the economy, stupid!!! (yeah you!!) :o :o :D :D
like i said, its a full rebuild.

she's a hard left manchurian candidate and you know it. She is NOT a grass roots self identified anything. She's an actress that responded to a casting call. Its in the video. There is hard evidence to support this. She's too dumb to know better and everyone sees it. She doesn't know a thing about any of this. Never in my lifetime could i imagine an imbecile in congress. Many play dumb. Many play "aw shucks." This lady is dumber than a box of rocks and everybody knows it. She was a fricking bartender that answered a casting call. :noway: :noway:

But in all seriousness. it wont be long before she is brought up on charges of something so I aint too worried. Like i said. She is dumber than a box of rocks.

You literally just described Trump in this post when he took office 2016. And it came true!
