I came believe we gave him the supermax *and* a no-trade clause. Amazing. Did we give him a player option at the end of every season as well?
EDIT: oh a 15% trade kicker. And a 5th year PO. And the in-arena announcer has to say "may he live forever" every time he mentions Beal's name.

Beal becomes only the 10th player to have a no trade clause joining LeBron, KG, Melo, Dirk, Kobe, DWade, Duncan, David Robinson and John Stockton.

The contract also has a 15% trade kicker and player option in year 5

We all worship at Turd's temple of mediocrity.

Just around .500 above all!

Not sure if I should applaud Beal for his naivete or pity him for it.

Do you all remember Ernie's secret extension? This has Terd's dirty hands all over it..."legacy" he says...

No trade clause and player option when he's going to turn 34. Brilliant move Ted. Why don't you just give him partial ownership. This is not going to end well for either side.

Hey, maybe Beal can parlay his Wizards stint into future Wizards franchise owner.

He's earned $180 million from the Wizards so far and has another $250 million coming.

He's well on his way to being a billionaire by the time he turns 40.

Not enough face-palm emoji’s for this.

Not only did we beat ourselves to him, we made sure we couldn’t trade him, and we will give him a 15% kicker if he decides he wants to be traded. Turd. Turd! Turd!! Turrrrrrrddddd!!!

Where is my Star Trek Kahn scream? Need to find it.

Its crazy. Have the Wizards not learned anything after the Arenas and Wall contracts? At least with Wall the team was able to trade him.

I had the standard, "Are you crazy!" response, but after giving it a bit of thought - realistically Brad is the one that is going to ask out versus Ted allowing a trade. If Brad wants to go to a more competitive team, he can easily sign off on the trade and waive the trade kicker. This just protects him from a new GM coming in and cleaning house and sending him to Sacramento - which would be highly unlikely unless Ted sells the team.

It prevents the team from even considering a trade. It prevents other teams from considering a trade due to the kicker. He will be harder to move. His PO handcuffs the team during his declining years.
One more thing….if Turd was all in on Beal to this level, then he should tell TS to move hell in getting supporting players in a win-now strategy. This win now AND build for the future will bring us a play-in game and an early exit at best.

The kicker's almost guaranteed to be a non-factor, at least - the 8% annual salary raise will very likely outpace increases in the cap, and salary + kicker in the event of a trade still can't exceed the max. We'd need to see like a 25% cap spike next year, and a Beal trade executed in that year, for the kicker to really come into play.

This.

When KD says he wants to go to MIA and PHX, those teams gain some leverage. But, they know the Nets could also potentially trade him elsewhere, so they still need to adjust their offers accordingly.

If Beal asks for a trade and provides a short list, then there's nothing we can do, other than keep a disgruntled Beal or hope that his list is long enough to create some upward pressure on the offers.

The only player in the NBA with No Trade Clause, unbelievable. Failure organisation. It's just Beal, is it MJ?

Given the cap projections moving forward, I'm not so sure about that. They're talking about maybe a $175 mil cap in 2024 depending on the new TV deal.
