Gay was 11-37 and Derozen was 6-25, great work from their two captains.

Amazing that they still took Houston to double OT.

Gay is a star though. Look at his line: 29 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and a block.

You guys kid, but Joe Averagefan really would (sadly) consider that a great game. Gay's had a bunch of those type of games this season - to the point that it seems like he's encouraged to do that.

About Otto Porter: I'm glad Washington didn't pick Bennett.

Remember the furious debates about Bennett on this board this past summer? Boy those were intense.

I said it very early on. I wanted nothing to do with Bennett. Had him as a late lottery pick at best. It was absolutely crazy to take a guy with so many obvious flaws as the #1 pick. So glad Cleveland took that horrible decision out of our front office's hands.

We effectively had the 1st pick in the draft - was the way I looked at it. It was bizarre. Now, did we take advantage of the situation? Well, we took the low risk low reward option.

I think it is a safe bet that Bennett is very out of shape right now after offseason surgery. I expect him to at least be a competent scorer eventually. My interest in him definitely faded when he said his standing reach was 8'9".

Still stunned the Cavs took him at one. I am struggling to think of a time when the 1st pick was such a surprise.

I think Olowokandi would probably be the closest and that is going back to '98. Every year since then the #1 was pretty clear except 2005, 2006 and maybe 2001.

If you see Bennett play, then watch clips of him in college such as the DX video, he looks worlds different athletically. He is Fathony Bennett right now, not Anthony Bennett. I think using this form of him to judge his future is a red herring. Just like using Derrick Rose's form to judge him is.

I like the Gordon Hayward story. I think this is one of the new stars in the league. Very complete game that reminds me of Joe Johnson with a better attitude. I see 22 pt, 5 ast, 4 reb+ this year
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Other than CP3, Curry might be the best PG in the league

Indicative of his potential or not, this is the way he's playing - both Rose and Bennett. Perhaps eventually the two will round into shape but it's certainly not what their respective institutions had hoped for. Worse yet their performance has a very real effect on their very real records. Be it rust or fat, excuses don't really change the outcome of games.

Apparently Bennett was under orders not to work out after his surgery and got badly out of shape. It probably isn't fair to judge him based on his current play.

The Lakers continue to be competitive w/o Kobe, Jordan Hill (remember him?) has been putting up some numbers. Steve Blake and Nick Young have also been playing very well for the Lakers. Ernie Grunfeld seems to be the only NBA GM incapable of putting together average NBA quickly.

I think it says everything needed to know about Bennett. It's why I had no interest in drafting him. Him not being in shape is not a huge surprise if read his back story.
