Alperen Sengun had 30 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 blocks.

According to nate and Dat (?) teams can't win without a shot blocker.

Also, Sengun and Steven Adams were on the floor together in crunch time. What about spacing? What about defending pick and roll? Which C played PF when you guys say Queen can not play PF with Missi at C?

How did Sengun's team win? Does this mean that someday Derik Queen could be on a winning team?

Sengun is now shooting 45 percent from 3 and he is shooting close 3 times more attempts than last season. He made a total of 21 3s last season and he right now has made 17, so he could match his season total of last season in the next couple of games.

Also, it's noteworthy that they quickly abandoned the Adams/Sengun twin towers lineup. The two of them started for the first two games of the season, both were losses. Then they went back to starting Sengun at center and bringing Adams off the bench and went 9-1 since then. He and Adams have only played together for about 100 out of a possible 500 minutes since the first two games.

It is true that they a have been successful with Sengun at center, and he is not a rim protector. But it's a little bit of an atypical situation. There is an insane amount of height and defense around Sengun (Thompson, Durant, Smith, Eason when healthy) that means Sengun doesn't really need to do much rim protection. I suppose you could win with with Queen if you put him alongside two of the best defensive wings in the game and a 7-foot tall HOF shooting guard. But that scenario is typically unlikely.
That is my only point. Avoid absolute thinking. Atypical can work.

Hartenstein and Holmgren are seeing the floor together a lot more this season. Aren't they both Cs? Or are they Cs with three-point range.

Derik Queen should share the floor with Yves Missi, IMO. Both are listed as Cs, but Queen operates best out of the high post. Missi is a rim protector. Both guys make a living at the dunker spot.

Gotta give some props to Norman Powell. He's averaging 25 ppg with a 66% TS for the heat.

The clippers decided to get rid of him and replace him with Beal.

Zac Risacher looking pretty bad against the spurs.

Watching the Bucks vs Sixers from yesterday. Giannis is out and I notice this big they are playing I've never heard of named Jericho Sims. Big guy who seems really athletic and I think why haven't I heard of him.

2nd round pick for the Knicks, bench scrub apparently with no offense but seems like a good defender.

So I have to check out his combine numbers. 8'10 standing reach which is short for a center. Then I check out his athletic testing:

:o :o :o

At 250 pounds this guy ran a 3.05 sprint and had a standing vert of 37". His max vert was 44". I've never seen a big guy test that like that, or even close.

I caught the end of the Pels game this morning. The Pels had the lead late. Then Flagg got a 3 pt play against Queen but the sequence below is what killed them.

Zion misses and Naji gets the rebound. Queen tries to strip him instead of getting back on D. Queen and Naji are the last players down the floor.

Instead of staying with Naji on D Queen decides to double Flagg leaving Naji wide open for 3 which put Dallas ahead. Low IQ play.

Interesting.

Reed Sheppard is a menace.
Queen gets deflections, but at a cost of lots of fouls.

There are no Wizards in the top 50, though I wonder if Bilal would be on this list if he met the minutes criteria.

How? Because we need them to lose, that’s how.

This season is a multi-dimensional disaster.

So far.

It could get better.

It could.

It could also — as Flip Saunders reminded us — get worse.

The Clippers are about to secure a much-needed win over Charlotte.

We need to root for teams like the Clippers, Dallas and Memphis to get their act together and get back to playing something like .500 basketball. With Dallas and Memphis, we don't want any tanking competition. And with LA, we don't want a high pick going to OKC. It's nice to see that all 3 of those teams now have 5 or more wins.

The horrible teams are:
Charlotte (4 wins)
Sacramento (3 wins)
Brooklyn (3 wins)
Indiana (2 wins)
New Orleans (2 wins)
Washington (1 win)

As long as we out-tank Charlotte, we should stay in the bottom 5 and guarantee that our pick doesn't go to NY. And remember that New Orleans doesn't control their pick so they will definitely be trying all season long and may pull out of this doom loop.

Funny how the Pels finally win a game with Queen playing fewer minutes.

Kings won also good night for the tank.

He has been playing very well. And so has Miami as a team. Spoelstra is a sorcerer.

All that said, when we contemplate comparing Ware to Sarr, it's worth mentioning that Ware is a full year older.

Miami doesn't run any pick and rolls in the half court. Thinking Basketball has a video about it.
