Re: GO CAPS!!!!
Down 0-3 at the start of the 3rd period.
Amazing 4-3 2OT win by the Caps. The second overtime looked like a WW1 war of attrition. Gutty performance by Washington.

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
nice comeback win
but ovechkin is vastly overrated. semin green and backstrom are all soft euro's(minus green who is Canadian but he still sucks). not a good look when all of your "star players" are bunch of sissy foreigners with no heart.
caps will win this series but lose to whoever they play next round. and boudreau should be fired.

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
Great win last night. Watched the first period on the elliptical. When I back to the TV after lifting and soaking in the hot tub, the 2nd period was over and the Caps were down 3-0. Sat there on the couch at the exercise club with my boys and watched most of the 3rd period while I waited for my wife. Then watched the OT back at home. Awesome win.

I was flipping between this game and the NBA playoffs and some dude in the apartment above me yelled really loudly so I flipped back and saw the Caps had won. Like I told Pine, NHL OT games are nerve wrecking. It's not like baseball where the home team at least has a chance to to tie or win the game, or basketball where it's 5 minutes or whatever the time is. It's one goal and you're done. This is definitely a series changer. .

not a big hockey fan but I try to watch a bit at this time of year
when they went down 0-3, I figured it was back to DC 2-2
given that goals had been so hard to come by up to that point.
great come back win - I'm happy for Teddy and DC.
I'm hoping as a wiz season tix holder that this model
can be replicated. I miss the playoffs and a solidly
pro-home-team crowd.

Me too. I'm a very casual fan, but once I heard they tied it at 3, I tuned in and was just engrossed by the game. Wow, can those guys skate or what? The speed of the game seems so much faster than it was - say just 5-10 years ago. When Ovie came down on a breakaway like a giant hawk on skates in the first OT, it was breath-taking - even though the goalie stopped his shot.

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
I have one huge issue with watching hockey though, my TV totally sucks
for it.
I got this TV (what formerly would have been considered a big screen)
Toshiba off of freecyle. I was barely was able to squeeze it into the front
seat of my Japanese p/u truck. Got it home. Was super anxious to
get it inside. Rainy night. Managed to lift it out of the car seat
but it was starting to slip and I had to lay it down and it ended up
scratching the screen on my driveway. It's not a big deal, except for
hockey. The scratches look just like the puck and when the camera pans
the rink, you have to really train your eye to distinguish the scratches
from the puck.
some day I'll go ahead and buy a new TV. Waiting for true OLED tvs
that are affordable.

That's really what makes the NHL so amazing. You really have no idea who is going to pull out and the play offs are just not as predictable as the NBA. In a way I am glad the Wizards got bad, I was able to take my 30 dollar lower level season tickets tickets and buy Caps seats at the club level for 44 dollars. Best purchase of a lifetime.
I don't like the way the CAPs played last game but if we can get past the Rangers I think we got a really good shot. This was the one team I wanted to avoid in the first round and we are doing a good job on them. The only other team I am nervous about is the Flyer. I don't get why people are pesimistic about the team.

THIS IS LEBRONS TEAM. Wade practically begged LeBron to cum, of course he had to give up some things to convince Lebron that it was worth it to join him in miami.

Watching Hockey in HD is a must. I just can't keep track of the puck when not watching on the big screen.

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
Nice to see the Caps not mess around and take care of business yesterday. Root for the Sabres because if they win tonight, Caps will get them in the 2nd round, I think. Top seed always gets the lowest seed remaining in the semifinals.

GO CAPS!!!!
Not sure I can root for the Caps to get Ryan Miller in the next round. That guy can steal a series. Rooting most for all the remaining series to go seven so the Caps can get more rest and everyone else gets more tired.
Also, the Flyers may be my single least favorite sports team. Id like the caps to crush them in the conference Finals if at all possible.....

Re: GO CAPS!!!!
I really really don't want to see the Canadiens in the 2nd round. They're playing the Bruins tough this series, Game 7 is tonight. I'm hoping Boston beats Montreal and Tampa beats Pittsburgh.

And Philly in the Conference Finals? How about Detroit in the SC Finals?
(Uh oh. I know hockey guys are the most superstitious of all. Hope I didn't just guarantee a Ji-like reception on this board from here on...)
Actually, I've been thinking about the Pens. And while I certainly hope they get knocked out by the Lightning, let's suppose they win Game 7 and advance. I think I'd rather see them in Round 2 than in the ECF. The biggest reason is that it's more likely that Crosby will be back the later they meet in the playoffs - and that any additional time will help him to reintegrate with the team. And while I really can't stand him, I know he is a great player, and just stepping on the ice could have a Willis-Reed-like emotional impact on his teammates.
I'd also rather play that series before the lights get too bright, when it's not the only show in town, and it's not for the chance to go for the Cup. I love the Caps, but their "intestinal fortitude" remains a bit of a question mark. Keep the pressure low for now.
So for me, tonight I'll be rooting for Lightning-Habs. But if the Pens win, I'll be rooting for the B's. And if that happens - the NHL will be bummed because once again, the two best teams will be playing in one semifinal with the presumption that the winner will roll over whichever team wins the other in the ECF. (Not unlike the Heat-Celtics series, IMO.)

Dwayne Roloson. BTW, the series starts tomorrow night. Which means Tampa would have a day of rest between Game 7 against the Pens and Game 1 against the Caps. There's a back to back next week also.

Caps are going to destroy the Lightning. Roloson is going to really start looking like he is 41.
