I love the front court depth. That should either keep Nene healthier and/or
alleviate the downside risk to his seemingly inevitable injury(ies).

I was originally thinking 50+. Looks like knowledgeable Wiz BBers are
in the neighborhood of 47. Ironically, I think that was my prediction last
year, that optimism being based in part on the expectation that Wall would
be the PotM guy we saw at the end of the 2012-2013 season. IIRC, the
PPA he put up over a few week period would place him among the
very best players in the league. Maybe I should be gunshy about
this. For right now, 47 seems not overly optimistic given how much
I like OP and feel like he has a very good chance of filling in for
the departed TA. What gives me some pause is Webster who I have
really liked since he arrived here. I wonder where the solid 3 pt
shooting is going to come from while both Beal and Webster are
out. But 47 it is. And edit to add - 4th in the EC

47 it is...

Well at least Ted can spin this as a consistent team. Consistently mediocre.

Not sure what you think this league consists of but there are only about 6 teams I would say have a clear advantage to win a series against the Wizards.

ATL
GSW
SAS
CLE
LAC
and OKC if healthy

Its not clear to me MEM or POR own us. But lets toss them in .. thats 8.. that is not average. Average is 15

Mediocre is average.

This is a better team then people give them credit. Its just Randy is terrible at line ups and offense and time outs. Really good defensive coach and that has a lot to do with why we are pretty good. But the coaching and some roster improvement keeps them from being in that elite tier.

They are in the tier below that. Which is above the average tier. Which is above the Mediocre tier which is above the below average teams which is above the bad teams. We used to be a bad team. We know what that looks like. Average was the Gil, AJ, CB teams. This team is not average. Its above average and just below elite.

Wizards are not Mediocre. They are better then that.

Here is my list:
Atlanta, Cleveland, Toronto, Golden State, SA, LAC, Portland, Houston, Memphis, Dallas, New Orleans, OKC (if they were to make it), Phoenix (if they were to make it).

I think we would be roughly even with Chicago and Utah.

I think that is 15 teams or so...

Mediocre definition: of moderate quality, value, ability, or performance : ordinary, so-so

I think the Wizards fit that definition. Now, if you were to compare the Wizards of 3 years ago to this Wizards team. Then yes, they are spectacular.

Haha you're hilarious. How many teams with over a .500 record have we beaten this year? Divide that by our total number of games played against them. If it's over .500 then the Wizards are better than mediocre. If not...I rest my case.

The Wizards this season are just about the definition of average. Mediocre. Pick your word. They're 13th in scoring differential while playing the league's second easiest schedule so far. They're good on defense (5th best overall), but below average (21st) on offense.

On offense, they shoot the ball decently, but commit more turnovers than average (24th) and don't get to the FT line much (22nd). They're average at getting offensive rebounds.

On defense, they're good at what matters most: opponent shooting percentage and defensive rebounding, and below average at stuff that matters a little less: forcing turnovers and not fouling.

The Wizards have the league's 12th best record thus far, which is a) pretty damn close to average, and b) not impressive considering the depressed state of their conference. If they were in the West, they'd be a lottery team with their quality of play.

What I mean, is that they are mediocre for a playoff team. We would get wiped out from every west team sans the Pelicans in the playoffs.

We are not better then 1-4 in the east. Currently INDY, BOS, and BRK are playing more convincing ball then us so I'd say we're about their level. The ONLY teams I feel we have a better then 50% shot in winning in the playoffs is vs. the Pelicans and the Bucks, and I see neither of those situations mattering. We have 5 decent to very good starters. Maybe 2-3 decent bench players. No real depth outside of that. No real coaching. No real competency in the front office.

And an owner that is collapsing in on himself like a neutron star. I don't really have confidence in the direction or construction of the team, but the idiotic fan in me will root for em anyways.

The Wizards are mediocre for an NBA team. They're below average for a playoff team. Sixteen teams will make the postseason. Eleven of those teams will have a better record than the Wizards. Probably 12 will have a better scoring differential. Probably 12 will have a better SRS (combination of scoring differential and strength of schedule). One team from the West will have a better scoring differential and a better SRS and miss the playoffs.

Actually, two teams in the West will have a better SRS than the Wizards and miss the playoffs. Either OKC or New Orleans, plus Utah.

Were arguably the 10th best team in the West and we are currently the 5th best team in the East. Out of 30 teams, were right smack dab in the middle. Sir, that's mediocrity.

The fact where in the East and play the 76ers/Knicks/Magic/Hornets/Pistons a bunch of times inflates our win total...

I fail to see much difference b/w the Gil/AJ/CB teams and the current one. One team is offense the other is defense. Both were exceedingly mediocre.
