The one signing I am hesitant about is Allegretti who seems to be a backup at best. He's being paid starter money though so we'll see.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
Ok. I like these OL signings.
Don't see the need for Ekeler but it's relatively cheap - it's like 1/2 the Saquan deal and for fewer years. It's still a lot to pay for someone who's gonna be splitting carries though.
Definitely looks like it's gonna be Maye/Daniels (or Caleb if Chicago passes based on the off-field stuff). Gotta make good picks with the 2nd and 3rd rounders.
36th: TE Ja'Tavion Sanders. Young 6'4 240lb TE out of Texas. 682 yards, 15.2 ypc, ran a 4.69.
40th: Edge Chop Robinson. 6/3 250lbs that has freak athleticism, but short arms. Local boy, went to Quince Orchard in Gaithersburg.
67th: CB of some kind. Khyree Jackson (Oregon), DJ James (Auburn)
99th: OT of some kind. Idk who.
101st: Another OT
138th: Another Edge/OLB
178: A guard of some kind
222: Slot receiver/special teams guy

That's nowhere near starting money for even a below average guard.

Allegretti is good. Very underated player.

I mean you drafted him 5th and you might get a 4th, at best turning it into a conditional 3rd is a decent trade off.

I don't love it, I think Howell is better than Marriotta, I think this signals Maye b/c you definitely can't put them in the same locker room for long, it would be humiliating for Howell.
Dying to know where left tackle is coming from.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
I'm tempted to go after Justin Fields. What if pre-trade we negotiate a three year extension to his remaining year at say $15 M per. We give Chicago our latter 3rd rounder. We trade Howell for future 4th and 7th round picks. We trade our 1st round pick this year for additional picks (now and future) and draft a LT . It doesn't look like that's what they're thinking but Maye needs a year to develop and Daniels seem like an injury waiting to happen.

You would be overpaying for Fields.
He's just not that good.
Yes, he has all the tools (arm, mobility) but from an accuracy standpoint...it's an adventure.

Really good signings. Need more fat boys but I'm really fine with the signings so far. None of them are overpayments in the least.

Yikes. I just read his option number is $25 M. Good luck finding a team that would swallow that overpay. I still like him but not at $25 plus.

The only.two I don't like are Ekler and Mariota.TGW wrote:Really good signings. Need more fat boys but I'm really fine with the signings so far. None of them are overpayments in the least.
Ekler is washed and unless you're signing him as a back up then it's a bit silly when you can get starting caliber rushers in the 6th round these days.
That Netflix doc really painter maritia in a bad light. He's not good. I don't see a reason to sign him over almost any other back up QB because you're probably going in to camp with 4 and there is a chance the walk on undrafted rookie or 2 year journeyman beats him out for the 3ed spot.
