This is what I was worried would happen with JaVale

Saw the game tonight and all I can say is wow. Javale was absolutely AWFUL! Nate McMillan was his coach and as soon as he put Javale in, he took him out and with good reason. Both times he touched the ball he shot it with no regard for team flow or hierarchy, and missed. He was listless getting back down court, allowing players to run past him for an easy bucket.

In this game he was not in there league. I am a Javale fan and said that in 2 years he will be an all-star and I still believe it but I may have to take back my hall-of-fame prediction, lol.

He has all the physical tools and he will learn the game, but it was the listlessness that he showed tonight as soon as he got in the game that was disheartening, not protecting the paint and lack of court awareness. He has a long way to go.

And, on a broken play, Chandler gets the dunk to win the game. McGee was completely lost on that one. :(

McGee was guarding the of the key while Chandler was under the basket getting the tip.
Then there was a reset. McGee was still up top. Totally lost track of Chandler like it wasn't his job to guard him.

Chandler ally op. Game over.

Just shows you why McGee was cut and confirms what we have all seen. Talented him but it's like he pays zero attention to the coaching or what he job is on the court. I think he thinks he is a guard.

Someone should sit him down and have him read from the Webster's the definition of a center and what their role in a game of basketball is.

Yi scored 13 points against USA

Yi scored 13 points against USA, grabbed 7 rebounds.
He did well.
No one can defense him in the US team.

Not too shabby considering China had noone else who could score, or needed to be defended. That 13 pt total was earned despite Yi sitting the entire 3rd quarter. He outplayed Durant anyway. Basically.

I'll be eager to see him match up against Party John Ramos in the Puerto Rico game. Too bad Seraphin won't play for the French team though.

(Merge pending for the Yi thread or the USA vs the World thread).

Yi will post career high scoring and rebounding with the Wizards.'

I expect a 35-40pt game from him, and for him to far surpass all expectations this season.

NEW YORK -- Short on size, the United States showed off a surplus of speed.

Danny Granger scored 22 points and the Americans sprinted past China 98-51 in a scrimmage Saturday at Madison Square Garden.

Sheridan: Green Likely To Be Cut

Sheridan Though no one wanted to say it, it appears Jeff Green will be cut from Team USA after not logging a minute in Saturday's scrimmage, writes Chris Sheridan. Story

On a day they gave their strongest hint yet that they're prepared to take only one center to the world championships, the Americans were credited with a 32-4 advantage in fast-break points.
>snip<

Coach Mike Krzyzewski likely did show who two of his cuts will be, not using Jeff Green or JaVale McGee. If McGee is cut, it would leave Tyson Chandler as the only true center on the U.S. team.

http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/olybb/new ... id=5464038

The writing is in the Wall for McGee, he just is too-raw to make the team. Team USA will take their chances with one center and even Chandler is not a gimme to be a starter. I hope this run and gun strategy works in Istanbul.

btw - The vote is pretty evenly split 50/50 on us winning this thing.

I suspect if you googled 'streaming' and 'basketball' you'd be able to find some friendly link from one of a half billion interested chinese folks.

My guy Stef Curry is a tough little mug. Love to watch how he shut down the opposing SF on the baseline, giving no ground on the backdown after the switch. Also heads-up play to get Rudy back a confidence bucket on the dribble dish. I always have to repeat: 'John Wall John Wall' otherwise I get pissed off.

Getting scrappy out there. Nice plays by both squads. Bokulo hitting threes looks good. Property of the Spurs, of course...

USA only up 9 at the half against the 15th ranked French team. You can see where the USA's smallish line-up could be a problem if we aren't shooting lights-out. Let's see what adjustments are made after the half.

EDIT: Adjustments made and the blowout is underway.

Its on Comcast NBA TV 749 right now.

So where has Yi been playing ?

PF or Center ?

Yeah, it really suck that Seraphin isn't getting any playing time in for the national team.

I am fully turning away from expecting McGee to be our starting center so I want to see more of Yi and Seraphin.

NEW YORK -- Carlos Arroyo scored 16 points to lead Puerto Rico to a 92-76 exhibition victory over China at Madison Square Garden on Sunday.

Elias Ayuso and Peter John Ramos added 12 points each for Puerto Rico, while J.J. Barea had 11 points and 10 assists.

Puerto Rico built a 16-point lead midway through the third quarter, then pulled away again after China wiped most of it away by the end of the period.

China couldn't overcome its poor shooting (33 percent) and the dismal play of Yi Jianlian of the Washington Wizards, who shot 3 of 15 for 11 points.
