I am going with 34 wins.

I picked 32 wins before the pre-season. That was the 10th seed in the East last season, however the bottom of the East was really bad. I think 10th(or 11th is probably about right). 35 to 33 wins seems more typical.

I think DET and WAS are pretty even. I think NJN, PHI, TOR and CLE will be a mess this season. Based on pre-season TOR and CLE look a little better than I expected, but I still think the Wizards are better. I think IND is 9th seed, but they basically swapped Murphy for Collison and Paul George. I think that is even and with some improvement and health they should be slightly better this year. I think NY gets the 8th seed. They have Amare and I while the supporting cast isn't great, it should be enough to get in the play-offs.

I'm sticking with my prediction on the first page of this thread of 33 wins.

Does he have to change his screen name? 43-39 should but the Wizards in the play-offs.

If they pull off some sort of shake up transaction prior to opening game, I retract my prediction. If they pull off a devilishly clever trade at the deadline, I retract my prediction. If I turn out to be wrong, I retract my prediction.

That was on August 12, and nothing since then has dampened my parched enthusiasm

Put me down for 36-46. That's what my gut is telling as of 1:42pm EST. Or maybe it's just gas.

Although I love me some Pancake optimism,
just drinking Kool-Aid today.
An 8 point a game improvement over last years scores
( a stinkin' basket a quarter) gives us 20 more wins.
Wall's defense and Gil's shooting take us home to the playoffs.

The Wizards are winning 41+ games and making the Playoffs if Wall, Arenas, Blatche play 70 games each in a Wizards uniform (as in Arenas isn't traded).

If any of those 3 miss more than 12 games, the Wizards will win around 30-35 games and miss out.

That said my official prediction is 45-37.

I'm predicting 40 wins this year. This will be an exciting year for the Wizards and I cannot wait until the home opener. Go Wizards!

The next time we make the playoffs, the name will be changed to Wizards2Championship. :D

30-52.

I am as excited about this team as I have been since the Webber/Howard/Wallace days- and I don't think that Ted Leonsis will make the same mistakes that management did trading all those guys away. Think about how bad things were when the team imploded last year, and less than a year later to have Wall, Arenas, McGee, Blatche, and Yi- that is some phenomenal talent and athleticism. I just don't see us staying healthy enough to make the playoffs with Howard, Arenas, and Blatche really being question marks and the season hasn't even started yet. I also think that Livington and Singleton brought a lot to the team last year, and that we lost a lot when they didn't come back.

I also have my doubts about Flip Saunders- why did a supposedly savvy professional veteran playoff caliber ball club last year have absolutely no clue how to run his system, not to mention get completely demoralized within the first month of the season? What does that say about his communication and leadership skills? Hopefully he and the team adapted to each other the 2nd half of the year, where things really started looking up at the end.

I will be pretty surprised if we make the playoffs this year, and honestly I don't think Leonsis would be all that broken up to get yet another lottery pick the year after getting #1- seemed to work pretty well for the Caps.

Seems like the average predicted win total went up by +10 when the Wiz kids were 3-1 in the preseason and now that it's over at 2-4, those 10 wins are gone from predictions.

I'm still sticking with the 42-47 range I suggested elsewhere. That somehow this team will do worse than the improvements of other #1 overall draft picks seems bizarre, since this roster is considerably more loaded than other teams that usually win the lottery.

What I got to see of the preseason reminded me of the 16 game losing streak last season. Players struggling to find roles and a lack of team chemistry. Then when things settled down and roles were established, things improved dramatically. As things settle down and Arenas and Howard get back into the swing of things and Wall gets more comfortable in the offense, I expect lots of improvement as the season wears on. How quickly that happens will impact my projected win total.

But McGee is dominant at times, even though he is just learning how to play and Blatche shows glimpses of being an elite post scorer in the NBA and Hinrich is a winner. There's a lot more talent on this roster than people are giving credit for and I get the problem people have with Flip, but the dude is a very, very good basketball coach and he's even better with an elite PG.

I'm guessing 18-23 over the 1st half and 23-18 over the 2nd half for 42 wins. Things come together quicker and it will be closer to 47 wins.

CNNSI had scouts predict the conferences, and the average had the Wizards tying for the 8 seed with the 76ers, but the scouts were all over the map. So the consensus is this is a tough prediction.
