Hilarious tweet:

@WindhorstESPN Wow, there's a lot of euphoria here in Verizon Center after Arenas deal. Trading that contract being seen as pulling sword from stone.

I'm for the deal, but come on, be serious.

Please, Ted was frank and open about the caps' rebuilding process. He plainly said we'll suck for 2-3 years. Why can't EG say it? Because he's trying to save his own behind. Saying Lewis is a rebounder and defender is a slap to the face of all Wiz fans and an attempt to save face. Just tell the truth.

Ted has said the same for the Wizards as well. For the Caps, George McPhee is a carbon copy version of Grunfeld. Tight lipped and PR savvy.

The die hards know what the deal is. Ernie doesn't really have to explain anything to anyone. But his ass needs to be out of the door now. The monster he created is gone and its his time to go.

Huh? So the owner gets to say stuff for his hockey team, but when it's the basketball team he can only speak through the GM? Ted has absolutely said about the Wizards EXACTLY what he said about the Capitals and we are seeing the execution of strategy. Matter of fact, to think that Ted wasn't very involved in this move is completely ridiculous. If you're going to be mad at anyone, why not your beloved Ted who just said a little more than a month ago that Gil "wasn't going anywhere"?

Again, the "common fans" are MORONS. They probably loved the Mitch Richmond trade too. They hated trading Jamison. They loved trading for Ike Austin. They don't anything about the CBA, the 125% concept, so who cares what they think. We are the true diehards, and we know what the deal is. They are fair whether fans who never fill the arena regardless. They are the worst fans in the NBA. At least Miami fans can get loud on occassion.

I say good riddance, even though this trade wasn't a very good one. Hoping for Gortat and a first or either one. But his play has been so sporadic, so lackluster, that this is the best they could have gotten. I just don't know what the plan is other than acquiring first-round picks, which they obviously didn't get.

I'm not getting into the history here, but I wasn't feeling Gil long before the gun incident and his recent play shows that either he was tanking to get out of here or that he just doesn't have it anymore. I know the explosion isn't there, but he still has the ability to drive and score. He just needs to the ball, which he will get in Orlando. Good luck Gil in Orlando. I know you'll thrive until the drama starts to kick in at some point. Hello Rashard, but I wouldn't buy a place just yet.

No, I'm mad that Ernie Grunfeld is openly lying to Wizards fans when he says Rashard Lewis can rebound and defend. That is what I'm mad about. And the common fans will eat it up too. If you are going to give accolades, just say Lewis has been to the finals, and has shown he can be an excellent 3 point shooter. Don't tell me lies.

It's all good guys, because this trade just made the Wizards BETTER. Oh wait, no it didn't it makes them worse, right now and in the future.

Oh wait, they are gonna sign DWIGHT HOWARD in 2012!

Oh wait, when that doesn't happen there will be more excuses.

There are few sure things in life, and one of them is that Washington area sports franchises are a joke.

You're really grasping at straws.

What do you want Ernie to say? "Yeah, Rashard sucks. He doesn't give much effort on the defensive end or the boards, but man, we had to get out of that Arenas deal."?

What he said is the exact same thing every other NBA GM would have said about Rashard. It's a canned response to give the impression that the team got a great player.

Of all the things to bash Grunfeld for, his comments regarding Rashard are just about as inconsequential as it can get.

Can't wait to see the new ticket promotions for next year. Nothing gets me more excited for good basketball than a bunch of goofs and John Wall running around.

And how was the scenario any different before this trade?

Or a core of John Wall, Harrison Barnes, Nick Young and a much improved Javale McGee. We saw this team have a huge uplift once they traded sulking veterans last year, the same might happen this year. This is the kids team now.

How on Earth does an extra year of Arenas, who takes PT away from either Wall or Young, make the Wizards better in the future?

Krizko on this I gotta agree with you. I UNDERSTAND why the trade was made, but the circumstances that made it occur but we got no value for the same reason we received no value for Webber. They both made foolih mistakes, but some odd set of ethics played a bigger role than protecting an asset.

Sweep stuff under the rug next time, then make a trade. Don't call the cops, devalue your asset then say it was good for all involved. Same situation with Webber and his weed issues.

I know Ted decently well and I'm disappointed with his apparent lack of involvement. That being said he has his hands full with Groupon right now. That 6Billion deal isn't dead and he has 10 pct equity. Can't say I blame him. But I know now to not listen to his positive vibe about the Wiz. He is a hockey fan first and foremost. Always has been.

Negatory on the Harrison Barnes, at least to this point. He's got a set of tools, but lacks any kind of killer instinct. Wouldn't take him over either Jones.

I'd imagine, that if you talked to GMs around the league, the fact that Arenas hasn't played a full season in 5 years, coupled with his huge contract has much more to do with his decreased value than the gun incident.

Hate to see my favorite player go, but at the same time, it opens the door for Young to earn a starting spot.

It's not the way I envisioned it when we won the lottery, but it works best for parties involved. So long Gilbert, thanks for the memories!

I just hope that this will be the last Ernie Grunfeld trade on the Wizards behalf and that Pritchard will be our GM next year.

Return to Washington Wizards
