Keep in mind, at that point Grunfeld's record hadn't been unfairly damaged by other teams ending games with more points than the Wizards with the somewhat elevated frequency of the 2011-12 and 2012-13. From 2003-04 through 2010-11, ONLY 25 teams had a higher winning percentage than Grunfeld's Wizards.
It would be interesting to grade each team since 2003. For instance, IMO Cleveland has done a worse job since 2003 but has a higher winning percentage- their higher winning percentage comes from the fact that they got LeBron.
With LeBron
- Letting Boozer opt out in attempt to sign him cheaply
- Signing Larry Hughes to a massive deal
- Drafting guys like Luke Jackson over Josh Smith
- Trading for big name players (Ben Wallace, Shaq, Jamison) did not work
With Kyrie Irving
- Passing on Valuncianas
- Drafting Bennett #1
- Drafting Waiters over Drummond
