Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 3
From the General Board:
Len had 13 points, 10 rebounds and played 37 minutes. Miles Plumlee only played 3 minutes.
Meanwhile, Randy Wittman is playing Paul Pierce, Rasual Butler, and Martell Webster ahead of Otto Porter.

Sad..isn't it?
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Yes, definitely, Wizardspride.
Second straight double double. Third in the league in block percentage. Len has had 4 games of 5 or more blocked shots. He has already hit one three pointer, and I believe will have legitimate three point range at some point. He had three assists and is a fine passer. He is a terrific free throw shooter for a big man.
Len is cutting down on the fouls...
If he stays healthy, he's going to be a really good one. viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1363510

Yep.
The Wizards blew it big time in not selecting Alex.

Kobe goes 3/19
Missing wide open teammates for 3s to help tie the game. Just missed a wide open Ryan Kelly for an open 3 off a broken play with one minute left.
Kobe makes a 3 to cut it to 3, then missing the tying 3 in transition.
Hassan Whiteside with another good game.

It was against Cleveland who only played Mozgov 16 minutes. But good sign for Len that he is coming into his own.

In the blind squirrel finding nuts category, I said in preseason that Whiteside and Seth Curry were the 2 guys I'd want to sign for the last roster spot(s). We'll see if he can continue improving.

Whiteside has been great...in a total of 208 minutes off the bench this season. I'd give him another game or two before giving him a maximum contract.

Thompson got a lot of air time on ESPN Sports Center for the defense he played on James Harden. If I heard correctly Thompson had 5 blocks.

Len is playing quite well, no doubt about it. Props to Hands, who wanted him at #3 in 2013.
Still, I think it's a bit premature to make a judgement between him and Porter. Len is rebounding very well, especially on the offensive side where his 4.1 offensive boards every 40 minutes lead to a high number of his made shots being put-backs.
That's great, and there's no doubt that his play this season would make us better! But, in re: comparing to Porter, it's good to recall that rebounding is the skill that translates most immediately when a college player moves to the NBA. Lets give Porter some time to develop his NBA game at the 3 before we downgrade him. Moreover, he's actually playing quite well!

Len isn't just rebounding. He's blocking/altering shots.
Also has a really nice touch and is very athletic.
He just has some things you can't teach.
I was beating the drum for Len all along primarily because I know how hard it is to get a talented big man.
(But with that being said, Otto was my second choice)
