Oh Ernie is still clueless if that hasn't been already said. I've never thought it was a good idea to let young players rot on the bench with no hope of playing anytime soon and that's what we've done with Oubre. I think now it makes sense to ask why Oubre over Portis when were now 8 deep on the wing and have only 4 guys total upfront

When Nene and Gooden break down, as I suspect they will...and I do expect Gooden to be resigned... this teams rebounding problems are going to show up in a very reprehensible manner. Especially if they plan to retain Seraphin somehow.

I know this sounds kinda crazy... And I'm not the biggest EG fan...
But how about we wait until the dust settles to see how it all plays out?
This over-reacting isn't becoming.

Guys on BF actually like this move. I don't want to believe our fanbase is that stupid. We're becoming more like brainless lakers fans.
Ernie Grunfeld is the type of GM to butt **** his own franchise and not have the decency to give them a reach around.
Sigh...

The dust settles... we've seen Grunfeld operate in this fashion for what now, a dozen **** years?

They're at 14...I gotta think they're gonna make a trade at some point. It's as if Webster doesn't exist or something.
Are they done ?
While it looks like just 4 in the front court, you have to account for Otto and Dudley at small ball S4
And Nene and Hump can play center.
But.. they could still move someone like Blair or Webster. Webster clearly and not seeing the full salary on that last year. But we know that last before last season was over.

Took me all of about 5 minutes to say signing Blair after already adding Humphries made no sense. I wasn't overreacting.
About 6-10 months later and after a multitude of fans bashing Dejuan Blair in probably 20000 negative posts (WAG-- Wild Assed Guess) ... I say I was merely being observant of what was to become. Grunfeld acquiring bench fodder is like going to a fast food restaurant and ordering about 4 entrees for TONIGHT's meal. Wasteful and dumb IMO.
Oubre got screwed, unless all he wanted was a paycheck and the chance to rot on the bench. But the good news is he can talk with Blair and Webster if they're not moved ... and also, he can speak with Humphries if Gooden is re-signed. But I DON'T want to overreact.

For my part, i'm irritated...prolly overreacting. I despise EG.
The plan just doesn't seem sound though. I get that we want Porter to be a S4...I do too...but he is 25 lbs away from that...maybe 20. That seems like a lot for him to add in one offseason. Also, Jared is a bad rebounder, if we play him for more then 20 mins a game at the S4...we will be ABUSED on the boards. I don't have any faith in that aspect of his game.
What seems to be the gamble then, is whether or not Porter become a S4 or not....seems like a considerably leap to make in one offseason...especially if we want him to be a two way player.
Here is hoping though.

No. Not really.
Specially when the offseason isn't over yet.
And besides. Marginal moves in the big picture. Its still about core pieces and having a top 3-5 player.
Its been a MEH offseason. But that happens sometimes.

You know, it's just like Grunfeld to add the most roster depth at the perimeter where we have three lottery selections aged 22 through 24 and the least depth in the front court where we have three players aged 30-32 and an overweight 26 year old who might just as well be 30+ judging by what people have said about the condition of his knees.

Re: David Aldridge/Woj: Wiz sign Alan Anderson (1 yr/$4 mil)
I despise him more and more each year. Must of emailed him about Millsap a dozen times before the dumb ass chose Pecherov. Faried or Thompson or Leonard ... everybody but him knew better than Vesely.
This guy is sickening.
Even if Oubre is a TREMENDOUS PLAYER they have a veteran coach and they acquire not just Dudley, but also Anderson, who PLAY OTTO PORTER'S PRIMARY POSITION....WHICH IS THE VERY SAME AS OUBRE'S They have very deliberately slowed the development of Oubre and probably Porter, too.
(Guess they'll make somebody change positions, just like with Chris Singleton Jan Vesely--let's see Otto at PF.)
What a dumb organization. Yes, I am aware Anderson can play SG. But what the heck will Gary Neal be doing? Rotting behind Beal, until this coach gets him injured playing 42 minutes a game.
This is the stupidest team in the world and I've been rooting for them since 1973. I remember smarter coaches and better GMs (Ferry was way better than Ernie. I would attempt to do a cartwheel if Ernie Grunfeld was replaced by Danny Ferry).
This team will find a way to win 42, 43 games again.
With multiple players rotting on the bench.

Hey.. Kwame to Caron Butler
The Cinnamon Boys for Nene
Gortat for a mid first
And they have turned players on the down or out into
Webster/TA/Gooden/Rasual
Espect .375 or higher from Anderson from 3. And he is a really good FT shooter which is always apprehiated. But he isn't much of a rebounder or assit guy. But not sure that is what they need from a bench guard.
Seems like a Webster replacement.
Gotta see what happens next.

I'm ok with it but would have liked to see a big signed instead. Jordan Hill would have been nice. Hopefully a trade is in the works for a big, word is Markeiff Morris wants out of Phoenix. That would be an awesome pick up for us.

There's no quicker way to begin your summer vacation as an NBA GM than to just go through the remaining free agent list alphabetically and offer each guy your remaining money until someone says yes.

I was thinking 43 wins.
You can say EG traded Kwame for Butler, or lots of other GMs passed on [insert good player here], but I try to see EG's moves in their natural state, in their totalitarian…ism, so to speak. Stone crab time.

Hard to imagine Otto at PF when he's still too light in thr pants for SF, but I digress. Still, makes me wonder if the org is not totally sold on Otto consider how deep we are on the wing plus the drafting of another pure SF in Oubre.

Nope, it's just the usual OCD roster building: must draft Euros, get more bigs, all in for defense, need more wings. EG is a binge/purge GM.

I wonder if him wanting out has anything to do with the felony aggravated assault charges ...
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/markieff-and-marcus-morris-officially-charged-with-felony-aggravated-assault-222424868.html
According to an Arizona Republic report earlier this month, police believe the attack resulted from "an inappropriate text message" to the Morris brothers' mother, Thomasine Morris, but alleged victim Erik Hood claims the text simply said "he'd always be there" for her and was misinterpreted by his assailants.
When approached by The Republic, Markieff and Marcus Morris denied assaulting Hood and claimed not to even know the 36-year-old man, but a police spokesman's statement to ESPN tells a different story.
"Because the offense occurred at a basketball tournament with over 100 in attendance, including many youth under the age of 18, the Phoenix Police detective assigned to this investigation was tasked with tracking down and interviewing all who may have been witness to the assault, including out-of-state attendees. After weeks of interviews and information-gathering, the detective was able to present a cognitive investigation to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office for review."
http://arizonasports.com/41/1832031/Phoenix-Suns-Morris-brothers-plead-not-guilty-in-assault-case
These guys are toxic, and need to be traded along with the other low character players on the roster. McDonough and Babby need to look to the Cardinals organization as an example of how to put a team together.
Awesome pick up?
