Time to pull Wall, Beal, Nene and anyone nursing an injury

Jesus! What's the record for made 3-pointers in a game? Portland already has 17.

Beal simply has to work too hard on offense. There's a visible gap between his skill set and that of, say, McCollum.

Neal and Beal must lead the league in most passed-up open 3pt shots.

Cringeworthy turnover from Gortat after a (rare) offensive rebound.

I'm surprised to say it, but missing Gooden, Humphries, *and* Porter really limits what we can do out there.

I'm not sure Gooden nor Hump would have helped the horrible rotations today. The team isn't equipped to play modern NBA offenses with real stretch bigs, nor does seem to have the right philosophy in general on defense this season.

This was an example of systemic failure, from management down to the players. :nonono:

Yeah. Particularly Porter, and particularly on defense. He has the length to guard a lot of bigs but can also switch out on wings.

The offense didn't look too pretty with the old school Nene/Gortat lineup, either. Gooden and Hump aren't ideal stretch 4s, but they're better for the offensive flow than the Twin Cowards.

(okay, "Twin Cowards" is harsh. They weren't that bad. Still: once it popped into my mind, I had to go w/ it)

The only positive takeaway from the game is that Beal has now looked sharp in three games since his injury. He's letting the game come to him more, which has resulted in fewer turnovers. He's also hitting the 3 at a high (unsustainable) rate. I feel like he's turning down open looks too much though.

I'm pretty sure Dudley protects his percentages, as does Neal...Beal does to a degree too. I'm guessing Alan Anderson might too when he comes back. Having 4 guys in contract years w/o security has to affect which shots they are willing to take. Gooden is guilty of this too. He turns down a lot of decent looking 3s but I suppose makes up for it with his oddly decent ability to get put backs.

I think a bigger reason they pass them up at times is that they have slow releases. Beal's isn't as slow as the others, but he needs to have the Paul Pierce readiness, so that he can practically be in shooting motion when he catches the ball and not worry if someone's jumping at him.

I can get that for a guy like hump.... Jared isn't that slow of a release for a S4. Neal has way too high a propensity for turning down 3s for contested mid range 2s (deja vu). I don't know enough about Alan Anderson prolly to project his shot selection pattern.

It is irritating hearing Buckhants proudly calling Dudley the 2nd best or 3rd best 3 point shooter in the NBA just because of his percentage - knowing part of being a quality 3 point shooter is actually taking a good quantity of them - not just shooting when there's nobody within 10 feet of him.

It's almost like calling DeAndre Jordan, Tyson Chandler, and Andre Drummond the best shooters in the NBA because of their FG percentages.
