Also? I’m glad he’s not getting the franchise scoring title.

So so so so so glad.

Even if he had stayed, I wouldn’t have wanted that.

There’s a difference between that, and this.

This is transactional in the worst, most extreme way.

It’s: I get mine, you get squat.

Go ahead and join a joyless, gutless Durant. I will be rooting for your downfall and humiliation.

Aye aye sir. 1000%. Beal and Durant truly deserve each other.

Isn’t Shamet an expiring as well? Seems like the team will be setup to take bad contracts with picks attached as soon as next offseason.

Really gotta try and flip CP3 to the Lakers for #17

I don't think it even matters if Brad shoots like 45% from 3 and averages 35 ppg. No trade clause means he can completely dictate the terms of the deal. Trading him for scraps sucks, but keeping him out of spite does nothing. At least they can get out from that horrible contract and start the rebuild.

Honestly I'm pretty surprised this new front office took the job, considering they probably knew this would be the kind of return they could get. Tommy and Ted completely screwed us over with horrible asset management.

Welp, hate to say I told you so about Beal.

All of the Beal apologist on this board, who bragged about Beal never coming into camp out of shape, and being a good dude, and the like, and how he's been a pros pro, look what he ended up doing to this team that has shown him nothing but loyalty. Not that I blame a thief (Beal) taking money from a sucker (Wizards ineptitude), but it doesn't take a genius to realize the type of dude Beal truly is with all the passive aggressive bitching over the years.

Any who, crappy deal, but I don't blame the franchise (new management that is) just wanting the guy gone. Had he sat on the bench for the year, that couldn't have helped things and could have wasted half a year of culture building. Obviously would have liked more, but I was part of the contingent that was happy to get a happy meal in return not to have to watch this dude ever put on the jersey again.

Good riddance to the prime donna, douche bag.

Man...not even one 1st rounder or a young prospect in return. This is inexcusable. No fanbase deserves this. I feel for you guys

Maybe in a while, sure.

A couple years.

Not now. This is disgraceful. Absolutely a gutless act against the team that drafted him, developed him, gave him the keys to the franchise, and gave him an insane amount of money (more than a player of his talent should ever have gotten).

Vindictive. Ruthless.

He will get his. I hope he knows that.

Nah, Beal just did what any player does. He did for himself. We've had a billion examples of this. Some of us have been arguing with fans here for nearly half a decade that you had to trade Beal because this was exactly what would happen but the fan base was insanely deluded (some of them) into thinking his love for DC trumped him ever playing for a contender. He wanted the bag and he wanted to win. If we'd ever built a successful team around him, he would've stayed, but that went down the drain in the winter of '18-'19 and for the last four and a half years, the fan base, front office and owners have been living in denial that this wasn't EXACTLY always what was going to happen if he wasn't traded in the '19, '20, '21, or '22 deadlines or offseasons. This was ALWAYS going to happen unless he was traded. We didn't have one chance to avert this, we had EIGHT. We never took action.

This is 100% on us, not on Beal. He's just doing what any player does, taking care of himself. We were the idiot franchise/fan base that stupidly thought he was an exception, AND that it was smarter to keep him, rather than deal him.

Nature is a cruel teacher, if you don't keep your head, you lose it. We lost it by not trading him FOR YEARS.

We are the idiots.

Instead of blaming Beal, just remember this --- damn lesson for once and do the right thing next time. Forty years of this ---- and it feels like the franchise, ownership, and some of the fans still haven't learned a thing.

All of you could teach rings around me about the right prospects and vets to build around, but the way this played out was team building 101 in the NBA, and how some people never saw this coming was and is utterly beyond me. That they blame Beal for it instead of the people that built this house the big bad wolf could blow down in .01 seconds is just confounding to me.

It isn't his fault we were played this way, if you can't see this coming, you shouldn't play the game in the first place, you/we, should just go home, which, btw, is what all fans should do to punish these idiots for now guaranteeing this team will remain irrelevant for fifty or so years instead of just 40-45.

It's not their fault. We all hopped that beal.wouod respect Ted when he had handed him everything he has and made him the most powerful NBA player in the league and one of the top paid. But he showed us he's a piece of ****. The reported Miami deals all included 18 of that was truly on the table it's nothing but tampering. The sun every being included screamed tampering between KD booker Beal and the agent who's sun runs the team. It's disgusting and Beal will go down as the worst villain in DC sports history for this.

They should’ve played hardball with him. Don’t let him play in another game or practice until he cooperates. The new regime shouldn’t have any loyalty to Beal. Their job is to turn things around and build a winner.

We look extremely weak, total joke of the league in the media now, terrible way to get this rebuild going.

How do you not even get one single first round pick or young player back?

We aren't weak. We're irrelevant. We don't look weak now, we've always looked weak and inept. Today is no different than any other day. Nobody in the NBA thinks about the Wizards. Nobody. It's that bad. They don't think we suck, rather, they don't think about us at all.

Two divas that screwed the Wizards on the same team. Can't wait to see the Suns burn.

Beal scammed you guys...for years. Just waiting out for the biggest possible contract and no-trade clause -- then forcing his way out with his money and your franchise empty handed.

Your GM should have traded him years ago...

WHAT THE **** IS THIS **** **** YOU TOMMY SHEPPARD AND TED LEONSIS ARGH JESUS CHRIST

Thanks for treating Beal like a **** franchise and MVP level player. I'm glad he's finally gone but just, holy ****, how badly they've been doing things for years... decades...

We can only hope they've finally learned from all these mistakes and that there'll be brighter, better future with totally different franchise culture.

Not only forced Phoenix, but forced us to take the lesser package, and not even get Ayton in return.

Return to Washington Wizards
