Donavan Clingan has been fine for Portland so-far, but I wonder if their fans low-key wish they had taken Edey at 7 instead because of his lethality in the post (smaller defenders though)

Ugh he still pulls the ball down to his waist to gather himself, I wish wish wish he would keep the ball at shoulder height and higher at all times. Don't put the ball where the midgets can get at it man
I've been taught all my life to value service to the weak and powerless.

He is from Canada, and didn’t start playing basketball until his sophomore year in high school. He probably didn’t get any quality coaching until college, and the quality of his teammates and opponents was probably substandard until he got to college. He is years behind almost everyone else in the nba in terms of development. In spite of it, I bet he wins Roy by a landslide, and he has a good chance to be one of the most dominate centers ever
Viva le tank! At this pace, it will never end.

It's a feature not a bug. His TO% decreased every year in college, despite his usage rate and high minutes. It is part of why he racked up so many fouls, smaller players would swarm him and scratch at him trying to pop the ball loose but he would rise up through them and score anyway, forcing refs to call the infraction. He's still too strong, still has great hands, still keeps both hands on the ball to dunk. Not many people are going to be able to rip the ball way from him even at an NBA level, but if they try he is going to get extra trips to the line.

I’ve been tracking Ron Holland’s box scores which look meh, but apparently he is doing a lot of little things right.

Holland was +25 in the first game -- a blow-out win by 33 points. He's been -20 overall in the last 3 games. Overall, in 4 games he's shot 10-28. Not doing much else that shows up in the box score.
Overall, he hasn't been particularly good -- nowhere near as good as Kyshaun George, for example.

Yup meh, I wonder if some of it is attributable to the awfulness of the team.

I don't bet but Sheppard looks quite attractive at that price.

Buzelis' efficiency was horrific during preseason. He shot 35% from the floor and 29% from 3. I'd take everyone on that graphic over him in ROTY odds.

Edey is a good guess. Rookie of the year is selected by sportscasters and broadcasters. They tend to like old school types. The Grizz had too many injuries last year and the team is primed for a turnaround.
That said I think the best payoff would be a bet on Knecht. The Lakers get all the airtime, JJ Redick wants to shoot from outside all game long, LeBj will feature Knecht as a bailout target, he only has Hachimura in front of him who hasn't been able to cement himself at the non-LeBJ forward spot. And he has a built in nickname. Highlights all year long.
Dark horse: Clingan. He will probably be able to make the case for singlehandedly turning around the Blazer's defense. In part because Avdija will help a ton but never gets enough credit

Sheppard gets the most love. Castle is next. Alex doesn't get a mention -- but one GM picked Bub...!

Stephon Castle looks like ass cheeks. Lack of confidence is on full display and he looks like he has no business playing on the ball. Was passive and got bullied by Ajay Mitchell, a 2nd rd pick (who I liked during the draft process). 20 mins, 0 pts, 0-5 fgs.

Some stats so far:
Bub leads all rookies in scoring, Sarr leads all rookies in blocks per game (4th in the NBA overall). George and Bub top 4 in assists per game. George 2nd in all rookies in steals per game.

For those who would have taken Reed Sheppard over Alex Sarr: you might want to look at Sheppard's numbers so far....
Obviously, all the evidence isn't in --- for either guy!
