Re: Julian "Juju" Reese
Juju is posting a 61% TS% while having no 3-ball whatever -- no shot, really. That's terrific, obviously.
On top of which, while missing only 3.8 shots per 36 minutes, he grabs 4.5 offensive boards in the same stretch of time: in effect, he gets back all his misses - plus a little more -- wow....
OTOH, he turns the ball over 3.2 times in that same stretch, while recording only 1.2 steals.
Still, the overall effect is tremendously positive: at a net cost of about 8.6 possessions* Juju delivers 13.3 points. Wow.
IOW, Juju used a net total of 8.6 possessions to deliver 13.3 points. That is tremendous!
He has a place in this league, that's for sure. & if he ever develops a shot... watch out!
* Add FGAs (9.1) & FTAs/2 (2) plus Turnovers (3.2). From the total (14.3) subtract Offensive Boards(4.5) & Steals (1.2) to get net possessions used (8.6).

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Good showings for a two-way player. With AD/Tristan/Alex racking up DNPs, he could get a lot of call-ups next season.

Re: Julian "Juju" Reese
Good at what he does - rebounds and putbacks. I cant wait to see him after adds another dimension to his game.
As with any rookie, he has lots to improve upon -passing, awareness, a jumper. Do the first 2 and he will be a good player you cant keep off the court. Cant wait to see what he looks like next year. A bit more time hitting the weights will help him more too.

Here's what I said about Juju in a recent game thread:
badinage wrote:Question: is JuJu a find? I don’t mean — a star. I don’t even mean — a core piece. I mean — is this a guy who, when they’re trying to win, can contribute this kind of rebounding and inside play for 8 or 12 min a game?
No. He has one legit NBA skill in rebounding, but that's not enough. He is a bad shooter (.548 TS%) with no range outside of 5 feet, horribly turnover prone (4.4 TO's/36) and he doesn't protect the rim. And that despite his stats being inflated by playing so much garbage time in blowout losses against teams that haven't even scouted him. He turns 23 in June.
He would not get minutes on any team in the NBA who was not actively tanking.
I think his rebounding is promising enough that he probably deserves a two-way spot to see if he can develop in the G-League, but I think the chances of him becoming a useful NBA player are rather small. He really needs a knock-down midrange jumper, and judging from his FT form, that's not in the cards.

I don’t know if I’m seeing what everyone else is. All his big games have come against teams playing their 3rd string tank lineups. Utah twice, Brooklyn, Chicago twice. It’s the equivalent of G league production to me.

I pointed that out as-well, he is still a good rebounder though. I would keep him around on the two-way until we find an upgrade.

This is fair. There's no reason at all to think he is a rotation nba player. Any more than Sharife Cooper or Leaky Black. I hope we are filling our 2 way spots for next season out of the 2026 class.

Re: Julian "Juju" Reese
Opinions vary.
My answer is first a series of questions.
Does Rui Hachimura have a place in the league? Does he have another skill besides shooting? Was he useful as a Wizards player? Is he a Laker rotation player?
The rest of my answer is that I think nate33 is
% wrong. Julian does one thing well. He is predictable and useful.
Cam Whitmore scores. JuJu rebounds.
The best answer is to sign him until there is a better player at that spot.
Personally, I think you guys are daft if you didn't appreciate his rebounding, even if it was against Kyle Filipowski. Did Troy Murphy do that? JuJu doesn't score as well as Asa Newell. He rebounds considerably better.
Name a better rookie rebounder than JuJu Reese. (Yeah, I am sure you won't count Derik Queen's 30-point, 22-rebound game). You act like 23 is the end of growth and development.
JuJu did enough to sign somewhere.
You guys don't like him? I hope the Lakers reconsider. Drew Timme found his way. Last I checked, he is not a rim protector.

For sure, Juju will get a 2way contract for next year: why would he not? & after all what else does he need but a chance to prove himself?
