Nah. As big trades get flung around or when the trade deadline approaches EG always has to answer a few questions relating to the issue. And always gives the same answer: nothing.
But he's right. How many other GMs in the league wouldn't be ecstatic to get 2 rested & ready allstars after the break --without giving up anything?
The team played pretty well with just Caron in there, it would be silly to bet against a motivated Gilbert, in a contract year, being able to come out and do damage-- in a positive sense.
I think the team is positioned pretty well. Not frontrunning, we don't have to sustain the nightly pressure to maintain the top slot. The team can play hunter, not hunted, and chew their way up the ranks while remaining overlooked underestimated.
And looking ahead, the schedule ain't the worst in the league. Normally we'd be stressed about getting Chicago twice and Miami twice. But odds are they'll be heavily invested in the Beasley sweepstakes by that point. The schedule has some tough games-- but just enough to tune up and test yourself amping up for the playoffs. Get a late-season look at Cleveland, while we're still figuring out what we got going on, and thus reveal nothing really ourselves. Then, post-season ring the bell and come out swinging. I bet we'll be alright. I got a feeling.
