Almost a God Shammgod sighting?

We saw a report this morning on Ball Don't Lie that the Clippers had signed God Shammgod to a 10-day contract, which seemed impossible since they already have 15 players under contract.

The Clippers confirmed to us via email that their roster still stands at 15 and that they have not signed Shammgod.

I don't think it was necessary to contact the Clippers about it, considering the story itself says:

And no, we're not talking about International Basketball League guard God Shammgod. (Though they could probably use him too.)

It's just a joke post from Ball Don't Lie.

Stevie Blake -

Granted, it was against a depleted team and but still. 14 in a quarter. Only question is why did he only finish with 17 for the game ?

Blake tied an NBA record for assists in one quarter when he handed out 14 during the first period in the Blazers' 116-87 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. San Antonio's John Lucas set the record of 14 assists during the second quarter against Denver on April 15, 1984.

With Portland (35-20) running against a Clippers' team down by six players due to injury, Blake took advantage of the fast-paced start the Blazers created. During one stretch during the first quarter, Blake had assists on nine consecutive baskets, including five passes that led to dunks by LaMarcus Aldridge, Nicolas Batum and Joel Przybilla.

"He made everybody's job easy," Aldridge said of Blake. "All we had to do was finish."

Circle July 17 on your calender, Pech will be in-uniform for the Wolves when they play the Wiz during SL. I think he'll get buckets. :)

...and a mop. He's soft as charmin. SL does not translate into regular season (all Wiz fans should know that!)

He should be back in Euroleague soon.

More on Stewie, if you missed Steinbergs blog. I'll miss "Stewie" I hope he finds his game in Minny.

Oleksiy Pecherov had something of a cult following in this town for a guy who hardly played. There were plenty of reasons: He was friendly as heck. His accent was easy on the ears. His basketball skills were legitimately enticing. His name was hard to spell. He was extremely fond of saying "I get buckets, son!" He looked like Stewie.

So more than one person asked me to get some sort of comment from Pech after he was traded to Minnesota. I finally saw him last night at the Washington Kastles' home opener, sitting at a VIP table with JaVale McGee, Caron Butler and Javaris Crittenton.....

He only has to compete with, what, eight other PF's for minutes?

I am really surprised there have not been more rumors about the Timberwolves. I guess they need to get a coach first, but their roster so imbalanced. They have 3 players at SG and SF. There SFs are Bewer and Gomes. Ellington is their only SG.

Pech might actually not be a bad option at back-up C. He could use his range to spread the floor on offense and let them get away with playing 2 PFs at the F spots.

Pech is on the Minny SL team so they'll take a look at him....nothing to lose at what he's getting paid.
Perhaps he will live-out his dream of camping-out around the 3-point line, waiting for the kick-out :)

OMG Juan Dixon has 9-lives if he gets signed.
The 76ers have been contacting a variety of free agent guards to help fill out the roster for the coming season. That list, according to a source familiar with the situation, includes Juan Dixon, who has played before for new Sixers coach Eddie Jordan with the Washington Wizards
.

He was selected as a starter in the 2008 BSN All-Star Game, where he was selected the game'smost valuable player and scored twenty-two points and nine rebounds. While Caguas participated in the BSN "Super-6" round, Ramos claimed that he had matured since traveling to Spain, which helped him in his game.

In EJ's defense, remember that story about how Juan Dixon begged EJ to give him another chance and proceeded to score 30+ in a playoff game? (wasn't that also the famous "Juan Dixon is suck" thread?)

How can you not have a soft place in your heart for a guy like that? Especially someone as softhearted as EJ.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

in Juan's defense, he played the last 1.5 months of the season with a tender achilles and was having problems walking around out there.

I seen Chris Whitney playing pickup ball at a gym in MD a couple of times, played with him a few times. Made me realize how good NBA players are. This dude was chubby and about 10 yrs removed from the league (I think) and was still Killing out there.
Sit back and watch WALL WORK!! >:-)
