Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 6
Looks like Davis and Flagg had much better games against the Nuggets than the Pelicans. Davis had 35 points on 26 shots against the Pelicans while he had 31 points on 19 shots against the Nuggets. Flagg had 31 points - he only had 1 bucket in the halfcourt against the Pelicans (he scored 5-7 on Derrick Queen in the opening matchup but didn't find his groove with AD/Klay taking most of the shots).

Still beyond ridiculous that the Spurs landed Dylan Harper in the lottery. Silver and his cronies turned the Spurs, with a population of 12, Tim Duncan's legacy, and America's saddest dating pool, into a hated evil empire goliath.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot? Urinal cakes!

A new era of Spurs domination has begun, we have to focus on building to win the East first.

Chet Holmgren's legs are somehow skinner than his arms, and he's got toothpicks for arms. My man walking around on straigtened out paper clips shaped into legs.

This is what annoys me about Silver’s initiative against tanking.
Aren’t the Spurs and Pistons success stories? It’s not entertaining and rewarding to see a team claw back to relevance?
Show me any other way to reliably go from last to contender status. The draft exists for a reason, that the worst teams generally get better players or more options helps to a more level playing field. Otherwise the same top teams will win every year.
If you make it harder for a losing team to reverse it then they’re going to stay a losing team longer, whether they are tanking intentionally or because you are handicapping them further. In many cases you’re punishing them for bad luck.
To slam that door AFTER the Spurs once again defied the odds would be ironic. You're punishing the teams that suffered from their success. It’s not like you’re going back to assign Harper or Castle to another team.
So. If not the lottery, and building through the draft, what mechanism do you have for a team to rebuild. Rather than punish teams that are stuck at the bottom, what innovation can you invent to help them compete. Or is all of this just performative nonsense.

Jokic had 56 points, 16 boards and 15 assists on a 90% TS% last night in an overtime win. That has got to be the greatest box score line of all time!

Joker was once again awesome last night. Stayed up late to watch the entire game.nate33 wrote:Jokic had 56 points, 16 boards and 15 assists on a 90% TS% last night in an overtime win. That has got to be the greatest box score line of all time!
But hard to top this reported box score by Wilt Chamberlain: 53 PTS, 32 REB, 14 AST, 24 BLK, 11 STL (March 18, 1968 against the Lakers/blocks and steals weren't official then).

That is indeed more impressive!
I don't really believe the stat line though. 24 blocks is so utterly out of step with any recorded performance that it is difficult to believe. Manute and Eaton ever even exceeded 15 blocks in one game. And the single-game record for steals is 11.
Let's just say Jokic's line is one of the most impressive in the modern era since box scores have been kept.
