Good to hear the one liners.

So you're implying that the NBA is "real life"? Maybe, maybe not.

King James turning heel reminds me of a classic WWE plot twist. And David Stern seems to take on more Vince McMahon-like characteristics every time we hear from him.

Seriously though. Imagine getting off after one of THE worst work day of your life and somebody walks up to you and asks, "Hey, so about all those people who hate you...". I'd imagine Bron's response would shine compared to many of ours. And seriously, what actually came out of his mouth is way different than what most (on the general board, all over the internet etc.) are saying he said. He never said "I'm better than you or make more money", what people infer is just their insecurities talking. They're reading a book Lebron never wrote.

Wow, I just wrote an entire paragraph defending Lebron. Time to go look at a picture of him in a Cavs uni to get the blood boiling again...

On another note I just got done watching the 30 for 30 on Jordan. It didn't make me hate Lebron as much as wonder what on EARTH Scottie Pippen was smoking... Basketball fans need to watch MJ footage/documentary/gametape/His Airness/whatever at least once a year. He was too good.

i don't like lebron for how he plays, and how he's handling his image. i understand there's narcissism there along with strong tones of poor upbringing and undereducation.

that said, i don't really have a problem with what he said - maybe with how he said it? (passive aggressively) if he's going to be a prick, be a barkley-sized one and declare "i never asked to be a role model). if he's going to be PC, handle yourself like Dwight and plaster on a smile all the time (or Durant and grab your backpack).

I think this thread is getting a little off track. It is supposed to be about making fun of Lebron, not rationalizing his behavior. Let's stay on topic, shall well?

How much you think that kid gets for Lebron's stinky shoes?

That's why he doesn't have 50-yr old men at his camp. If he dunked on me and kicked me down like he did the kid I would have stayed down as if I got shot. I would have had suffered all sorts of trauma to include: whiplash, chest contusion, irregular heartbeat, short-term memory loss, and even erectile dysfunction. (Mental anguish messing with my drive. Oh, the humiliation!) :)

A pair of shoes (probably size freaking 17 or so and I wear 11) and it's all good? No can do with that homie. :( I got bills to pay and kids to feed. Latrell Sprewell's kids don't eat as much as mine.

Mr. James would need at least $25,000 to ease my pain and suffering. Chump change to him but enough to make me feel all better in hurry. For that I might go out and get a Miami Heat jersey from the NBA store on my dime. :)

In all seriousness, knocking down the kid is yet another PR nightmare for Lebron. You never saw MJ or Magic do that. Makes James look like an even more immature prick. Why try so hard? He really could have hurt that kid if he had kicked him in the mouth or caused the boy to hit his head on the floor.

there are so many things i dislike about that lebron video, i don't know where to start. from least disturbing to most disturbing:

- the little kid travelled on his layup attempt about 5 seconds in.
- the kid @ 11 seconds is literally half the size of the kid behind him. wtf? either they're in different age brackets and should be separated, or they play different positions, in which case, the hulking 6 footer should be doing Mikan drills instead of playing knockout. not everybody is meant to shoot 3's.
- no arc, flat shots result in long rebounds, i expect the "king" of basketball to know that by now.
- who the heck is filming this? why does he think that a 13 year old getting kneed in the chest by a monstrous 6'8 275lb man is funny?

oh yeah...

Lebron RUNS INTO A KID just so he doesn't get knocked out in a post-practice cool-down, mess around game?! this is ASSAULT. on a MINOR. what the F! Just so he doesn't get [deservedly] knocked out he charges at a basket where there's a 90 lb child entirely exposed and blindsided? AND he doesn't help the kid up immediately? he gets back in line? that's how this man's brain operates? and he has KIDS? and he works with KIDS? and he's an idol to KIDS? what in the WORLD?! MJ might have been a boozy, womanizing, gambling addict but when he was around kids, he was Carlton freakin Banks. Said the right thing, did the right thing, and had a winning smile throughout.

LBJ on the other hand is so narcissistic that he thinks it'd be an honor for this kid to get trucked by him and that a pair of his sneakers is more than generous. wtf man. how about not knocking him over in the first place? how about sparing the kid the questionable notoriety of being "the kid lebron dunked on" or more appropriately "the kid lebron ran over".

I mean, where were the PARENTS? where were the COUNSELORS? if i were there, i would rush up to lebron on the spot and chew him out. that behavior is UNACCEPTABLE! i don't care how good lebron is at basketball, i don't care how much money he has, or how "cool with it" the kid was... that is singularly unacceptable. in my eyes, it may be the worst thing that Lebron's ever done. ever.

Oh please! You rant on and on about some harmless, fun, nonmalicious dunk Lebron throws down over a kid at his basketball camp (a kid he then picks up off the floor and hugs) and yet you don't say squat about what Lebron is doing to help educate kids in his hometown. Well here's that link:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/06/lebron-james-focusing-ann_n_891309.html

btw, you can bet that 13 year-old loved the fact that Lebron dunked over him, and that he's proudly showing the video to all his friends.

Objective reality aside, +1 pancakes3. I'll bet that kid dies of a LeBJ-induced brain aneurism the day after the statute of limitations expires. Maybe they'll play that video at his funeral. ("It was the highlight of his life," his grieving mother bawled through Gatorade orange tears.) I'm surprised Michelle Bachman hasn't weighed in on the issue. We gotta protect the kidz!

Nike commercial: "Just Do It" chanted as a mantra over a slo-mo tape loop of LeBJ running the kid down. Maybe Crawford should call and give the kid some pointers.

That was not a harmless, fun, non-malicious dunk. The first dunk where nobody got hit was. The second one was an active intent to get the ball in the hoop so he doesn't get knocked out at the price of running into someone 1/3 his size with a decent head of steam.

I'm sure the 13 year old loves it, but he shouldn't. He hasn't fully come to grips with what happened. Lebron doesn't go "help him up and hug him". He gets back into the knockout line. It isn't until he sees another kid go help him up does he think "oh yeah. a real human being would have remorse for what i did. i guess i should go act like a real human being since that guy over there has the camera rolling." after helping him up and maybe 3 words exchanged, he gets back into the knockout line!? it probably wasn't until the crack Maverick-led-PR team got ahold of LBJ that it was decided to give the kid a pair of shoes and call it square.

I'm sure on some level i AM overreacting but i'm also pretty sure that this was not harmless fun - not as far as my buzzkilling self is concerned.

Kevin Love isn't above tapping into schadenfreude, and he says he's not alone. During [a recent radio interview], the Minnesota Timberwolves forward was asked, "Did guys around the league enjoy the fact that the Heat didn't win the championship?" You bet, Love responded. "Oh yeah, great amount of joy out of it," he said. "Plus, for me, they say nice guys, good guys finish last. But Dallas, they just had a slew of great guys and veterans on their team that made for just a great team. It wasn't just two, three, four guys on the team, like Miami I kind of felt it was. Around the league, it was kind of a consensus that guys were happy."

http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumo ... z1TWkmIdWf

 The Heat are despised around the league.
