Minny needs a defensive 3 so Ariza seems like a good fit and maybe they'd take one of Ernie's Kids.

Wiz trade: Ariza & Booker
Minny trades: Kirilenko (S&T)

New lineup:

CE Okafor / Seraphin
PF Kirilenko / Nene / Vesely
SF Webster / Porter / Rice
SG Beal / Temple
PG Wall / Maynor

He's really freakin' good and would be a phenomenal fit basketball-wise. Not a great outside shooter, but good enough that you have to guard him. You think Ted would enlist Ovie to help recruit him? AK could certainly get more Russian flavor in DC than he has in SLC or Minneapolis -- Mari Vanna and Russia House, to name a couple.

Give Flip Ariza and his man Jan in a S&T!

Yep, the synergy with frontline guys like Kirilenko, Nene, Okafor, Webster & Porter is potentially off the charts. So many high IQ players in that mix. The floor spacing would be ideal for Wall to work. Kirilenko especially could be that guy that 'stirs the drink' and takes us to level we haven't seen in DC in decades. All things being equal (and so much depends on health) outside of Miami talent wise, we'd match up well with anyone in the East with the only thing we'd really lack is playoff experience.

Great idea, but I think Kirilenko has been renounced to free up cap space to sign Kevin Martin.

Twolves Fan:

Kirilenko is a SF, not a PF. The man is a great defensive player because he can play out in space to cover the quicker SF. No team is going to trade for him or pick him up to play PF. And he is not a good shooter so I'm not sure why anyone would consider him a stretch 4. I think the Wolves would be interested in Ariza to back up Budinger at SF.

Would you guys have any interest in Luke Ridnour or JJ Barea with the addition of Steimsma for Ariza?

I posted Ariza for Ridnour+Stiemsma a few pages ago. But now that we have Maynor, we'd have to send Ridnour to a third team. I posted a 3-way with Philly just a page or two ago where Ridnour+Seraphin goes to Philly and we get Spencer Hawes.

No interest in Ridnour JJ or Steimsma. IIRC, Kirilenko was most effective in Utah when he played PF and his production really slipped when Boozer came in and pushed AK to the 3. I could be wrong though, that was a while ago.

The re-signing of Martell Webster makes sense, though some will question the length of his deal and the wisdom of president Ernie Grunfeld.

The Wizards used the full mid-level exception, meaning it doesn't count against their salary cap, to sign Webster to a four-year contract worth $22 million Tuesday. They will have the option to buy him out in the final year which isn't fully guaranteed, so the commitment is actually less than $20 million until further notice.

You may not know but Kirilenko exclusively played the 4 before being moved to SF when Utah signed Carlos Boozer back in the day.

His best and most productive years were early in his career as a PF. Check his stats from his first 4-5 years in the NBA (02-06).

Kirilenko just walked away from a $10 mil option he had with the Wolves. I don't think he'd be worth the money and years he's probably looking for. Kirilenko's game (and health) has declined considerably since his heyday with the Jazz.

Read where he said he liked everything except the length of the contract on Minny (1 year left). He apparently wants a 3 year deal at the same annual price. I wouldn't necessarily be against that, his contract would be up the same time as Nene's. It's less than David West got from Indy, and he's got similar overall value IMO.

If San Antonio's front office wants him, then obviously they see something you don't. Last season he actually played very well.

I wonder what it feels like to walk away from $10 million. Envy kicked me in the teeth when i read that.

Yeah, S.A. sees an old team (Duncan,Parker,Ginobli) trying to give it one more shot at winning it all. They can take on another aging player like Kirilenko if they think he has a year or two left in the tank. I see a younger Zards team being built around Beal, Wall and Porter. I say no thanks to Kirilenko....might as well sign Jamison in that case. :)

 You got jokes. :-?

What's really funny tho, you've got no problem when Ernie trades for age (Nene & Okariza). In fact you praised the moves. But you would have a problem with it now?

This would be compelling were it true.

I would say AK47 play has declined since his breakout season in 2003-04 where he played primarily as a PF. His play as of late is comparable to his last few years in Utah. Although his last season seems to be better statistically than his last couple of seasons in Utah.

Of course AK has played as a 4...he played some last year when Love was injured. But AK will always defend the other teams 3 on defense at this point and time in his career. AK is still incredible on defense in the open court. The Wizards would have AK defending Durant, not Ibaka, for just one example.

Derrick Williams could be your stretch 4, and most importantly the Twolves can trade him at this point...they can't trade AK.

It is just a roster spot and Ted's money. I think buying out Singleton(or trading) is an option if there is someone irresistible on the Free Agent market.
