Yeah, more and more I am thinking he is a steal in the draft. His 3PT% is near to .400 now after starting poorly, he has handles and passes well. His D is really solid 2-4.

Nice prospect. Just wondering - if we pick him, are we basically giving up on TBJ?

I think TBJ is a 2/3 and Avdija is more of a 3/4.

But your point is an interesting one against our current roster where we have Rui, Bonga, Brown and Robinson (and potentially still have Bertans, Schofield). I guess we have Wall, Smith (possibly Napeir) at PG; Beal and Matthews at SG; Bonga, Brown, Robinson at SF; Rui, Bertan at PF and Wagner, Bryant at C.

I think you made the point early (!?!), it would be better to have an uber athlete in the FC. No disagreement.

With the minutes that TBJ is playing - I wonder if they have already given up on him... (kind of want to put this in green, and kind of not).

Would you really take 3 bigsm sure okongwa and Smith early and mid but would you still take oturu if you take those 2? I guess with out Ian and you can play rui and bertains at 3 that does help our D a good bit and you're probably trading Bryant to get the picks so fine I'm sold.
Chocolate City Jordanaire wrote:Daniel Oturo.
Onyeke Okongwu
Jalen Smith

No-brainers. Oturo is a stud. Quick hops, power. Cannot miss successful NBA career potential.

Maryland is not winning these comebacks without Jalen Smith, who is racking up double doubles with VERY SOLID play at both ends. Sticks reminds me of Darius Miles, Jeff Green, and Horace/ Harvey Grant. He's really improving and he's still growing into his body.

Okongwu is the closest thing to Kawhi Leonard in this draft.

gambitx777 wrote:So you was thinking about this the other night when it was slow at work. We were n so me games and end up with pick 9-13. We make some trades and maybe end up with 17 and another late first. Or something what 3 players in this draft would you be happy taking.

Having a hard time deciding between Okongwu and Okoro at this point.

I like them both too. We need defense, and they're probably the 2 best defensive players in the draft. Okongwu is more interior D (which is our bigger need I think), and Okoro wing. But I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.

It probably comes down to who is still on the board when we pick. Most likely one of them will already be gone, if not both.

Okoru really needs to prove he can shoot - being a wing player - so far, he hasn't. He doesn't even make 66% of his FT's, so I'm not ready to pick him. Then again, he could turn out to be Jimmy Butler lite - in a few years. And a similar type of player who was rated higher - MKG - is now available for a ham sandwich.

I see he's listed at 6'9, 219 - which is bigger than I thought. If he can play some 4, he's a better prospect than I thought he was. Clearly someone to consider if he's still available when the Wiz pick.

I want to see his draft combine numbers - the say he is 6' 7.5" without shoes. But that needs to be verified. That would make him a legit SF with time that could be spent at PF. On one of the games it said he grew an inch this year. But it is announcers so...

Okay, I trust you two (Ruz way in on this), so one of Okongwu, Okoro or Avdija is going to be available. All good no?

Keep in mind, NBA listed heights are with shoes - which typically add 1.25 inches, so 6'7.5" is effective 6'9.

I'm definitely an Okongwu guy - they need a defensive monster in the front court - who can also be good offensively.

Maybe...honestly, they could all be off the board. They'd certainly be off the board if its going by my personal best available.

I mean, who in the top 10 would pick Mannion? Or Maledon? Maybe the Knicks grasp at Cole Anthony? I think Mannion drops outside of the lottery. Avdija will 100% be gone by our pick, unless we jump up.

Wiz could still fall below Chicago and Charlotte - that would put them 7 in the draft - and they could get lucky in the lotto and get in the top 4. Still, it's hard to argue with Dark Faze's point.

This... If anyone in the building is even pondering Okoro over Okongwu they should be fired. Okoro is more strong than bouncy. He shoots FTs like Mahinmi and is simply a good, not great defender.
Okongwu will be a difference maker in the league. Make no mistake about it, OO is better than Bam as a prospect in EVERY.SINGLE.WAY while being 6 months younger.
He has Kawhi/ Gobert/Draymond level of defensive instincts along with a hefty offensive tool box. I wouldnt hesitate to take him over every player in this draft.

So, say we're set to pick 9th, and we think we have to move up to 3 to get Okongwu... do you trade the 9th pick and Rui for the 3rd pick? Or the 9th pick and Bryant?
