How can you possibly write these sentences one after the other, and think that they argue for picking Drummond? Amazing.

I won't even bother asking how you know what Dray would do if he "had work ethic." Well... answer is simple: you don't.

I'm not going to get into this too much since this is the draft thread, but after the Jamison trade, Dray was playing like an All-Star until he turned his ankle. He turned KG into a human turnstile twice. I would post all the numbers of his dominant performances that yr, but I'm too lazy.

Drummond is the player I have been waiting on for a decade. In two or three years we will have the best young bigman and point guard every night no matter the match. A superstar big and superstar point under age 24 both with great character is the foundation of a dynasty. Its Leonsis destiny to ensure that wizards become a dynasty. Leonsis deserves to be the one responsible not eg. We can focus on role players once we are stuck in middle of the draft because we wont ever be in a position to draft a franchise player.

Why would they dump Harden due to salary concerns and take on Blatche's multiyear deal? If we trade for Harden there is no way they take Blatche.

Harden's salary in the upcoming season is $5.8 million. The $4.6 million number is for the season just ended.

I posted this a few pages back, but it seems like a decent spot for a re-post:

As Lamar Odom once said of Javale, the game is basketball, not run and jump. The game requires skill in addition to athletic ability. There's absolutely no reason Drummond can't gain the skill necessary to be a dominating NBA center. All it will take is extended, focused, deliberate work to develop those skills. If he's willing to put in years of work on his game, he could be a great player in a few years. But that's true of many draft prospects.

As for Drummond's physical attributes, he's an impressive athlete, but don't get too carried away. His standing reach is a little below average for a drafted center. His max vertical reach (the highest point he could reach) was about the same as guys like as Hassan Whiteside, Okafor, Jeremy Tyler, Bogut, Deandre Jordan, Lamarcus Aldridge, Joakim Noah, Amare, Brook Lopez, BJ Mullens, Tyson Chandler, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Patrick O'Bryant, Al Horford, Brendan Haywood, Eddy Curry, Chris Bosh, Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje, Enes Kanter...

His bench press reps were average for a drafted center.

His agility time was excellent -- just a bit slower than Boozer, Jackson Vroman, Nene, Miles Plumlee, and more than a full second slower than Josh Harrellson.

His sprint time was very good -- about the same as Tyler Zeller, Bernard James, Splitter, Malik Allen, Chris Burgess, Chris Kaman, Al Horford, Plumlee, Chandler, Greg Monroe... His sprint was markedly slower than guys like Bosh, Festus Ezeli, Jeremy Tyler, Al Jefferson, Nick Collison, Deandre Jordan, Nikola Vucevic, Pape Sow, Kanter, McGee, Amare, Nene, Okafor, and Dwight Howard.

So yeah, the guy is an impressive athlete. But it means nothing until he adds skill. Maybe he'll add that skill, maybe he won't. It's going to take more work than he's ever done in his life.

I mean amnestying Blatche is still the option but if you can trade him if given the chance, I would think you would have to do it right?

I agree. When he talks about what teams are thinking he has credibility. But when he voices his personal opinions about players it is hard to take him seriously.

Barnes problems have to do with what he did, or didn't do, on the court.

I thought the question was whether or not we could trade for Harden now that we pissed away the cap space. I don't see a trade that works. I am not sure how picks work in terms of cap space on draft day trades.

Certainly they won't take Blatche.

As a sophmore Rice averaged 17/9 shooting 56% from the field. Not really feeling that comp.

Wow draft is tomorrow! Felt like it would never get here... for me now, being in my 40's (no longer a kid) and being a Wizards fans, draft day is like Christmas for me now. Tomorrow I get to open my present and see did I get what I wanted, or a bigger surprise I didn't expect, or will it be a lump of coal.

We should try to come up with a "Twas the night before the draft" poem.

With all the Harden talk.... just realised the wiretap says the Spurs are interested in moving up to get Beal, too.

If the Spurs want him, maybe we should just keep him.

Wall/Mack
Harden/Crawford
Danny Green/Crowder/Singleton
Nene/Booker/Vesely
Seraphin/Nene/Vesely

That would have been a fun team to watch too.

Precisely. Unless we are blown away by some trade offer.
I know Beal is unproven in the NBA. But I cant say that after 1 or 2 years of experience, Harden > Beal.

And if the Spurs AND Thunder want him, we should trade up to #2 to make sure!

You mean Cleveland should keep him, right? I think we're sitting at #3 after Cleveland. In that case, I'm quite happy to take MKG.
