Saccone’s projected loss would add to a string of embarrassing Republican performances in special elections as the 2018 midterm primaries loom. Trump has distanced himself from previous GOP special election losers, including Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, who was upset by Democrat Doug Jones.

First what not to do - demonize a class of citizens - Hillary and the deplorables jump to mind. Her latest is that women can't think and vote for themselves.

Second, don't have a bankrupt DNC screw up the election process.

That said, they will win in this next cycle. Trump sucks and they should play on that.

But when they do get control, they need to show that they can actually govern. They need to prioritize what will actually help America and not just weaponized specific issues to divide the country - which is their modus operandi.

What issues specifically do you think they use to divide the country?

I've noticed that issues that divide the country are usually when Democrats are advocating for marginalized and disenfranchised groups.

This is what happens when your party is morally bankrupt and corrupt. Republicans can't acknowledge that Trump is the problem so they have to use this pathetic spin to placate the mad King.

In no way did Lamb, a pro-ACA, pro-union/pro-labor, pro-choice candidate run on a Republican platform. Fox News bimbos have been parroting this nonsense since yesterday, and it's a complete LIE. FAKE NEWS

If anything I think Democrats need to realize that you need to ride the right horse in the right district. Lamb is the perfect example of that in PA18 and he basically financed the race on smaller donations and very little money from the Democratic establishment.

I have always been a great admirer of Howard Dean who was the architect of the 50 state policy. He also transformed how donations were obtained by small donors rather than the monolithic party organization or special interest groups. Both Conor Lamb and Doug Jones did and Beto O'Rourke is doing in Texas. The smaller donations by the average citizen puts themselves into the game and have a strong desire to vote. After PA18 there are over 110 Reptilian districts that are more competitive. Midterms are about turnout as well as Party Identification and Lamb was very astute in mobilizing his strengths unions, people with disabilities and his message as a moderate. He didn't compromise core beliefs of the Democratic Party while personally Pro Life he supports the current law, pro improved healthcare, against new tax legislation, made in America & support of 2nd Amendment but against NRA.

I have been thinking and If I had any influence on how to run a campaign in the 2018 midterms these are some of the talking points I would be using!
1. The economy the trickle up effect in taxation not more money for the corporate welfare bums.
2. Propose a 15% Corporate tax on small companies making less than 500 thousand in profit and close the gaping loopholes in Fortune 500 type companies.
3. Heathcare is a right and a plan to improve Obamacare deficiencies to make a plan for a single plan in the future. Dckingfan and I both agree substantial changes are necessary to make a American universal healthcare a fiscal reality.
4. Pro 2nd Amendment but against against weapons and accessories of terror (AR15 and accessories) and revised and improved background checks.
5. Supporting livable wages for everyone and against the Corporate greed in "Right to Work" legislation.
6. Support of our hard working teachers, civil servants and law enforcement. But against corruption and racial discrimination.
7. Will not tolerate foreign interference in our political system.
8. Want to work with our allies not our enemies.
9. Resolve DACA and let these valuable assets become citizens.
10. Family values supporting religious freedoms and allowing each family to make there own personal decisions.
11. Safety in the workplace and a cleaner environment and rejoin the Paris Accords.
12. Make Ryan & McConnell the devil like the Reptilians have done to Pelosi.
13. Make the campaign about the ever woman & man.

I think Democrats have realized they need to run people period in these races. The last two races in this district the Republican ran unopposed. in a district that's majority Democrat! How **** short sighted is that? But Doug Jones, Connor Lamb are just a couple examples of how politics need make local issues their focus without betraying Democratic values. Connor Lamb was for universal background checks, saying he's pro 2nd amendment is a stupid talking point from the right because every politician is pro 2nd amendment! No one is running on repealing the second amendment even in the most Liberal districts. Doug Jones was also pro LGBTQ rights in **** deep red Alabama.

Also building momentum and grass roots organizing on the ground is what's going to win Dems seats. The enthusiasm gap is real and hopefully it can be sustained by Dems for years to come. Because Trump is just one of many problems in a long line of Republican **** ups.

Here is the list of GOOD Democrats who sold out the American people and voted with the EVIL Republicans to deregulate the banks:

• Bennet (D-CO)
• Carper (D-DE)
• Coons (D-DE)
• Donnelly (D-IN)
• Hassan (D-NH)
• Heitkamp (D-ND)
• Jones (D-AL)
• Kaine (D-VA)
• Manchin (D-WV)
• McCaskill (D-MO)
• Peters (D-MI)
• Shaheen (D-NH)
• Nelson (D-FL)
• Stabenow (D-MI)
• Warner (D-VA)
• Tester (D-MT)

VIVA LA RESISTANCE!

The Democrats are a cotdamn joke.

And when Elizabeth Warren called these sellouts out, scumbag Schumer tried to silence her. :noway:

How many of you have heard of Beaver Dam Wisconsin ?
Well late last week there was a explosion by someone making bombs luckily the only fatality was his. Who did it? Must be a Muslim indoctrinated by ISIS!
But not a word from the Administration or the Trumpster condemning this obvious plot to destroy America! I found that unusual! When has Trumpster ever waited to bash someone to score a point.

Well Benjamin Morrow, is lily white! Plus Born Again!

Update: another suggested possible explanation for burning the whole building- he could have been experimenting with toxic biological agents as well...

@cammac

Adding to your points. But it will be about governing more than anything (in the 4 years that follow the 18 elections). Otherwise back to a new cycle. BTW, did you know the Ds were the ones that blocked women's voting rights - but they evolved. Hoping the Rs will evolve after this recent mess that is Trump.

1. The economy the trickle up effect in taxation not more money for the corporate welfare bums.
- This is the tax fairness proposition. The problem is that there are many carevouts that are supported by the Ds as well. That has to end. The Ds need to finally run on taxation without carveouts.

2. Propose a 15% Corporate tax on small companies making less than 500 thousand in profit and close the gaping loopholes in Fortune 500 type companies.
- This is the notion that we need growth to pay for our social programs. We know what happened when Canada lowered its tax rates for corporations - they got more revenue. It should be about maximizing revenue and not about demonizing evil corporations - and that has been a mantra that Ds need to stop.

3. Heathcare is a right and a plan to improve Obamacare deficiencies to make a plan for a single plan in the future. Dckingfan and I both agree substantial changes are necessary to make a American universal healthcare a fiscal reality.
- And to make it a fiscal reality the Ds need to talk about the cost drivers. This is something they avoided like the plague 8 years ago.

4. Pro 2nd Amendment but against against weapons and accessories of terror (AR15 and accessories) and revised and improved background checks.
- And realizing that even the banning of certain weapons really doesn't affect the overall problem. They have to come up with a program that most americans would support - namely insurance and taxing weapons. The Ds are on the wrong side of the equation as soon as they talk about banning all weapons.

5. Supporting livable wages for everyone and against the Corporate greed in "Right to Work" legislation.
- This is a tough one because this issue is local. A living wage in NY, NY is going to be different than Toledo, OH. Making this a national issue will backfire.

6. Support of our hard working teachers, civil servants and law enforcement. But against corruption and racial discrimination.
- This is a really tough one for Ds. They have been the corrupt ones handing out bad local contracts and bankrupting municipalities. They are killing sustainable government on a local level in many parts of the country. Not sure how they will address this as it is so ingrained in their DNA.

7. Will not tolerate foreign interference in our political system.
- This. They can take back the entire foreign policy debate with "Rs are weak on dictators"

8. Want to work with our allies not our enemies.
- This is one that is tough given Obama's term. I think they should just ignore this one for the time being.

9. Resolve DACA and let these valuable assets become citizens.
- But also acknowlege that familial and birthright citizenship has failed us in recent times. And run on demographics and the need to bring in more young people.

10. Family values supporting religious freedoms and allowing each family to make there own personal decisions.

11. Safety in the workplace and a cleaner environment and rejoin the Paris Accords.
- Its a talking point no doubt. I don't think the Paris Accords have been very successful. And it would be pretty easy for the Rs to position as a money suck. I would think just running on being environmentally friendly and alternative energy friendly would be enough.

12. Make Ryan & McConnell the devil like the Reptilians have done to Pelosi.
- Wouldn't be too hard to do.

13. Make the campaign about the ever woman & man.
- Somehow undo the notion that Ds don't want white voters. Don't make the Hillary mistake.

I don't agree with some of the details, but on a macro level, I agree absolutely. The issue the Dems are currently facing is that these are very much the issues they need to resolve if they want to govern effectively. It's been proven time and again, though, that qualified doesn't get you voted in. Frankly, I feel the issues with both parties are largely symptoms of the American people in general, sad though it is to say. But you can see it in politics and basically every other aspect of culture. And this isn't just bash America. Frankly, I feel this overall holds true in every country - their political issues develop out of social issues. To be honest, that's where Trump has really successfully gamed the system. Everyone keeps expecting a fall, but on average people would rather buy tabloids that reinforce their existing biases than watch real news and be forced to learn anything. And social media has made that really, really easy to self-insulate.

BLM is not an issue that divides America. It is an opportunity to unite America around an ideal that we all *say* we believe in, that we are all created equal. When deplorables put their hands to their ears and yell "LA LA LA ALL LIVES MATTER ESPECIALLY THE WHITE ONES" it's not the Dems that are doing the dividing. That's white people being racist.

Gay marriage is not an issue that divides America. It makes us a more Christian nation by making love an undeniable right.

Wanting to control health care costs by using intelligent economic analysis to apply pigovian taxes to force people to externalize the costs of choosing not to buy insurance is not a divisive issue, it's a common sense issue and it shouldn't matter that a black person suggested it to you. That's not Dems being divisive, that's everyone who hates Obamacare but loves the ACA being flatout racist.

Wanting to reform the criminal justice system to reduce or eliminate prison sentences for victimless crimes and increase the use of civil penalties so that we don't destroy our country's human capital AND SAVE MONEY is not a divisive issue, it is a common sense issue that is, again, opposed primarily by racists.

Wanting to reduce the flood of blood in our streets and our classrooms caused by a broken 2nd amendment that prioritizes the right to own guns over the right of our children to live is not an issue that divides America. This is not a "divisive" issue, this is an "OMG WTF IS THE MATTER WITH YOUR BRAIN" issue. It's inconceivable that people have such a hard time choosing the right side of this. There is a CLEARLY WRONG SIDE and for some reason 14 million extremely loud and idiotic Americans have chosen the wrong side. I'm sure there are a large number of pedophiles in this country who care very strongly about their right to rape children, and yet that doesn't make it right. It DOESN'T MATTER how many grownup children with small penises in this country value the right to own guns to protect themselves against scary black people over the right for children to live. Being so negligently permissive with gun ownership that any idiot can buy an AR-15 and murder 17 kids is WRONG. OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. WRONG WRONG WRONG. WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being against hate and intolerance and racism is not divisive. It is the opposite.

I would say something about free college too but I don't actually agree with that and it has nothing to do with racial intolerance either.

@zonk - it still comes down to actually governing.

Great that we want healthcare for all - we know that we had to tackle cost drivers first - neither side has done that, the Ds had the last chance and swung and missed. Good intentions but :nonono:

We know that just banning certain types of weapons does little - and yet that is the proposed solution? Good intentions.

We know we want fairer taxes - and yet we keep implementing new carevouts (Ds are equally guilty, maybe more so) - good intentions really piss poor implementation: https://www.brookings.edu/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/es_20171220_looney-easements-methodology-appendix.pdf

We like SS - and yet we implemented baseline spending to make sure it wouldn't be viable long-term. Good intensions again.

War on Drugs and the Tough on crime initiatives were bipartisan efforts - they have failed miserably and yet we can't end really bad policies to save our lives - literally. Good intentions really bad unintended consequences.

When government is executing it is much more difficult to divide and conquer. When it isn't - well, the whites blame the blacks, the poor blame the rich, the blue states blame the red states, etc. etc. etc. I think someone even put in this thread that opioids were okay because it was a white problem - most likely because of the previous stupid policies.

It is going to be as much about what programs the Ds kill as much as about what they want to implement, IMO.

It comes down to execution and not good intentions. Trump and this group have failed as miserably as any - they had their chance, now they need to go.

Now the Ds will get their chance. Good intensions and more of the same? Or do they actually govern.

My two cents #endofrant
