what a fraud!!
The economy would have continued to do well regardless of who was President. How about that trillion dollars Trump added to the deficit.
Deficits only matter when a Democrat is in office.
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

My two cents. If the Ds really do push for a BBA and become the adults in the room - I think they completely dominate.
But they can't be "stupid" about it. They have to understand that understand the notion of sustainable. Don't jack up corporate tax rates - stick to personal tax rates. Get rid of all the carveouts - even the ones that they love and protect.
Do you think they could make that change?
And then you have the spending side (baseline spending, cost drivers for healthcare, ect..)... do you think they could figure that part out?
I don't know whether or not it's feasible. It would require a comprehensive plan of both revenues and expenditures - not just one or the other. Tough choices will have to be made - the kind that the Sanders people would not make - but the more centrist Dems might.

Yeah people basically make up their own story as they go with Obamacare. Why the **** would Obama personally want regulated private insurance markets over single payer? It was about political feasibility and working with Republicans.
Obama’s biggest mistake was thinking the Republicans are good faith actors interested in bipartisan compromise.

I can understand this - look at the recent presidents - you could easily puke all over Clinton or Bush. And most are too old to remember the first Bush and Reagan. And Carter - ugh.
We really have had a dearth of solid presidents. I think this says how badly we have screwed up as a country in recent times. Obama being a solid POTUS - vaults him into GOAT in recent times.

Good points - and it would be even harder for the local Ds. They would run right up against the unions.

And this would also be revisionist history

To be honest, Bush, Obama and now Trump have all been spendthrifts without a plan. Defending any of the three is just ludicrous.

Er - yes it would. The public had no appetite for single payer in 2008. Go look at the polls. It wasn't the Rs recalcitrance is was the Ds in power wanted to keep their seats.

Re-read my post. Of course the public had no appetite for single payer in 2009* - people back then still took neocon orthodoxy very seriously - liberals included.

There was appetite for a public option though that passed the House!
DCKings, what do you think of this plan?

Don't you understand you're not a real Progressive unless you hate Obama needlessly. You can thank Joe Lieberman for killing the public option. People also forget that Clinton tried and failed to pass Universal health care.
I swear Obama is the only President that gets criticised for not acting like a dictator.

Gotcha in Bold. It was never about the Rs - it was about the Ds not being able to write good legislation and ability to have the right priorities. That is the part I feel is revisionist. They failed miserably on healthcare reform when the had the supermajority.
