I'm fine with the way Wall is playing. If his shot is falling, no one would be mentioning this.

He probably won't admit it till much later in the future.. but he has been playing tentative and is clearly overthinking the game. He's scared to screw up.

He gets a pass because it's his first playoff run. But moving forward, he HAS to understand that the team needs him to be aggressive when the offense is slumping.

Are you kidding ?

He got off to a great start.

Overall, I thought Wall had a great game. He is in command of things. When he came out, you know it.

9 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 blocks, 5-6 from the line with some big FT down the stretch to ice it.

His shot cooled off after the start but I'm ok with that given everything else he did.

JOHN BALL GAME PLAYED A GREAT GAME

Didn't play well?

We had 53 rebounds to their 36. We had 17 offensive boards to their 6. We blocked 8 shots in the first half. We went 10 of 16 on 3-pointers. And Ariza, Beal and Gooden all had monster games. Except for one short stretch when he decided he should play 1 on 1 offensive basketball, Gooden dominated the floor while he was in the game. Guy had 13 rebounds in 18 minutes! Gortat couldn't make a shot, but he had 15 boards, 6 of them on the offensive glass.

Wall didn't shoot well, but he was fine in every other way.

But it's true that Nene, Booker, Webster and Miller did not play well. Which meant they only combined for 65 minutes. Wall and Beal played 83 minutes; it'll be tough to sustain that. And it'd be nice if we had a young big who could be relied on for any meaningful contribution -- the lack of that might wind up costing us the series, especially if it goes to 7 as seems most likely.

For now, however, wow! This is awesome fun.

IMO we didn't play our A game and I stand by that. We out hustled them and that made this win even sweeter for me.

To be fair to John... apparently it's working lol

It's working because our role players are playing way above their heads.

At some point he won't be able to hide behind his teammates, he'll have to step up to the forefront and make plays. And fail or succeed, he'll learn from it.

He's definitely not playing like he is the best player on the court. He should give Beal his next game check. He's trying to come for that #1 spot.

Cross posted on GB.

Roy Hibbert out earns my dead grandmother by $14,283,844.00.

Grandma matched Hibbert in points and rebounds tonight. Way to go grandma (miss you).

I agree. This Wall bashing is ridiculous.

He is a point guard. Teams with scoring point guards rarely win championships.

He's getting everyone involved, playing good defense and pushing the pace. He's doing his job and then some.

Or the same as Sterling, who gets paid much, much more. And when was the last time he was credited with an assist?

The bottom line is winning the game. That's his job. Not to look pretty or put up great stats. If they lost, then I could see getting on him.

Well we certainly started with it. My word they had it going. But then the subs game in and they couldn't do anything.

There my come a time that Randy need to be willing to turn to players like DOOM and OTTOMAN. Might even have to use some KEVEEN

INDs 2nd line is more athletic then our older players.

We did start the game on fire. The subs sucked the air out of the ball for a few minutes. Porter and Kevin S need to play at some point in this series

Agree. Wall is managing the game, protecting the ball, playing great D and getting everyone involved. Ariza does not have the game he had tonight without Wall running the show. Could Wall drive to the rim a little more....sure. But, its a minor issue, especially with us winning.

To the Wall bashers:

Really?

I think Wall is playing a mature brand of basketball. He's cut down his turnovers (which used to drive me nuts). He's not making the risky play, he's making the smart play.

Tonight, 9 dimes and 1 turnover. That is EXACTLY what you want from your point guard.

His shot isn't falling, but his body language is good and his shots aren't really those early-in-the-clock Js that he used to hoist in the regular season.

Wall is playing fine.
