Regarding starters, Trae, AD and Sarr will presumably be starters. Based upon merit, Justin and next year’s first round pick might be the other two starters.

Regarding Bub and Will not being in the rotation, if Jamir and Cam outplay those two, and minutes are distributed based upon merit, those two might be out of the rotation.

Before I start my response, I'm a just say this..... I have so many reasons to hate this damn team as it has given me decades of ammunition...
Considering my football teams all are championship level organizations, (SF49, NYG, Miami Canes).....
I definitely am not a fan that would ever be considered a homer.....
I scream for Kyle Shannahan's Head, was glad Daboll was fired, and I don't really feel merciful about pro sports considering the cost....
I definitely would not be rocking with this FO or team if I didn't like the overall product that they are building....
With that said, the change in outlook of this team 3yrs ago, to now, is really crazy to watch.....
DC is going to be interesting once all these stadiums are built or renovated.....

Now to what you're on.....
What you want is our younging's parked on the bench, but I doubt they are going to do that....
They are going to continue developing our youngings....
Our guys are physically still boys and you nor I really know what that even translates to as they become young men......
That was the dice roll drafting guys who were so raw, but had phsycial profiles they coveted, and diverse skillsets....
Once they grow up, this squad could be exceptional....

Jamir has to learn how to shoot...
Justin will play, but this desire for him to bench our youngsta's is kinda wild....
We are going to see what alot of the kids can do the rest of the season....
But seeing how our guys have been making gains in the weightroom from 1-2 summers, I wonder what they'll look like by year 4-5 when they are 23-24....

Bub is going to look better playing with a real PG (TY)....
He was being miscast as a lead guard and will go back to his more natural position of 2......
His game works so much better when he doesn't have to get to the hole as much not being forced to play out of position......
The complaints about not getting to the rim become less of an issue when that's not his job or role....
His mid range and 3 point shooting will be more valuable then....
He needs to keep improving his physique and work on his defense....

Will Riley has a chance to be a very nice player...
He's tall, can pass and shoot, and is as skinny as a pole....
He's raw clay, that has flashed some promising signs.....
He'll only get stronger, and will continue working on his game to improve as a player...

We have been drafting guys who live basketball...
You want microwave success, when it's been 3 years....
How did you interpret gutting it down to the foundation?

If we go G in the draft, depends on who we get...
If we get DP I could see him starting as a rookie, but if we draft Flemings or Brown, or Arenas, I think those guys will come in off the bench to begin the season......
If we get AJ, CB, CW or someone in that vein, again I don't know if anyone besides AJ might have a chance to start as a rookie.....

I just don't get the desire to get so mad at the Wizards now, of all times to be sick of this team....
I mean you had so many chances prior to this regime that should've really gotten you up in arms, but this particular iteration is what set you off?
Why?

From your response, I take it that you don’t think these young players are good enough to earn minutes based upon merit. If so, that is my answer to what has set me off. These young players simply aren’t good enough to earn minutes based upon the merit of their play.
PIF, you said you were going to put me on ignore, and you advised people not to engage me. Please stay true to your desires.

It really depends. Boozer/Wilson won't beat out Sarr or Davis next year. Dybantsa could maybe beat out George? If he does, that's a home run pick. Peterson is probably not beating out year 2 Johnson, especially since he's projected to be Trae's replacement. If you mean JC beating out George, JC provides little spacing and little shot creation at the moment. He's more of a Josh Hart supersub than someone you really want to start.

again, it is extremely weird that people are so down on our youth. That perception just doesn't track based on the stats and what we've seen skillwise, which again, leads me to emphasize, that I think people are just mad at anything this FO does.

AD will be loaf managed. Ok Load. But I like the typo.

If we are basing on merit, and under BK, defensive effort, recognize this team benched Poole until he actually put in work on the defensive side. That means we may see Trae as a super sub at some point. I don’t think you can play him next to Trigger Tre for long stretches due to size issues. So I think we get regular rotation between the two.

If we draft Peterson he’s starting. Will not be benchable for long.

Boozer. Perfect fit next to both Sarr and AD. Strong 3 Big rotation that lets us load manage both the fragile all star and the young player still building strength.

Caleb earns minutes off energy and fire alone. He may understudy from the bench for a minute but again AD ain’t playing 82 games. And once the young beast gets on court he will be hard to displace.

Flemings doesn’t care when you play him he’s trying to win his match up at both ends. At some point this lets you park Trae on the bench as we have with many of our vets. Anyway I suspect TY is still recovering from playing through leg injuries. Forcing the action. Our med team plays the caution game. I think we want to get him right. Make him look good. Fully healed.

Dybantsa has to prove he cares enough not to coast on talent. I think BK teaches him the same lesson he was trying to get Whitmore to learn. On talent plus effort he should start by the end of the year though. Which gives us decisions to make on Cam. Bilal. Etc. Kyshawn will still play though since he’s versatile 1-4.

Ultimately it’s a good problem to have. Competition. Of course youth won’t instantly beat multi year all stars. Eventually you hope they make it impossible not to play them. At that point it’s because they got good and deserve it.

This is the wrong thread. But it might be worth looking at what the Wizards did with assets in the past...

Look at this transaction:

August 11, 1999: Ike Austin Traded by the Orlando Magic to the Washington Wizards for Terry Davis, Tim Legler, Jeff McInnis and Ben Wallace.

August 22, 2000: Ike Austin Traded by the Washington Wizards to the Vancouver Grizzlies for Obinna Ekezie, Felipe López, Cherokee Parks and Dennis Scott.

The Wizards effectively turned a young Ben Wallace into Cherokee Parks.

Here's the Richmond transaction:

May 14, 1998: Mitch Richmond Traded by the Sacramento Kings with Otis Thorpe to the Washington Wizards for Chris Webber.

July 20, 2001: Mitch Richmond Signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Wizards turned a young Chris Webber into no compensation.

-- We can be critical or not of the Young and Davis deals. But, it's safe to say that Will Dawkins has overall done a solid job in rebuilding the roster. I'm just not sure if he's building a championship contender.

I’m still hoping we pass on AD for picks and another bad salary such as Poeltl for Toronto. But another way we could imagine using AD or Trae would be using them as salary matching in a year or so along with multiple FRP for a real star

You missed the third big trade of Wes's disastrous GM run, trading a young Rasheed Wallace for Rod Strickland AND a bad contract (Harvey Grant). One of the worst sustained runs of GM incompetence in NBA history by the icon of the franchise. Still love Wes, but that wasn't about asset management, that was a GM with the word "Chump" branded on his forehead.

The answer depends on how well he's judged his
drafts the last couple-3 years (we'll see about Bilal).
I think he has confidence in the growth of the players
he's taken. It's not clear to me that he's been wrong.
Considering their ages and the typical maturation
and improvement young players make going from
20-25, I can see why he's cautiously optimistic.
I like that he has flexibility in how long he keeps
the old guys he traded for (TY & AD) depending on
how they play with our maturing kids.

To me you can't completely evaluate until you see if:
1. Is TY a contributing factor on a playoff team? To me, that's an open question and why, until I understood
the need to address cap floor, I really didn't like that trade.
2. Almost the same question with AD with the difference
being can he play enough and less about is he a winning
player.
Given his recent history, that's a significant concern.
But if he can be 85% of what he was for 75-80% of
the season, it's a home run. At worst, he's gone in a
couple years and the price to roll the dice was fair.

Those transactions are at the core of the sadness and mild alcoholism that drive Wiz fandom today. Will Dawkins and Winger are like our group therapy leaders.

I"m also not sure if this is championship quality but if they get a top pick in the draft, I'm sold. If you squint, you can kind of see a longer term plan too where they trade off some the younger guys who don't fit for future first rounders so that this becomes sustainable over the very long term. It might even start with an AD trade next summer, after a year of healthy-ish basketball.

There could also be an all-in trade for a star if one becomes available - sort of like what Cleveland did when they traded for Donovan Mitchell after first drafting Mobley and Garland.

FF, we hired the stoic son of Wes to be HC, another blunder.

And trade up for George. Trade DOWN for Riley + Watkins. They’re not just standing still. They ID a guy they like then go get him.

Riley is the most impressive to me since we got the pick in trading away Johnny Davis and one of the multiple times we traded away Bagley. We shipped a 2nd round pick in the Bagley for Smart deal. Then recouped the 2nd rounder in dropping back for Riley.
