I stand corrected! Although it does appear that Dallas' offense is doing quite well with Haywood in the post-season. (I don't think Chandler really does much more on that end than 'Wood except jump when dunking)

It may very well be that Haywood just isn't build to play more than 30 minutes a night. Maybe EJ knew something we didn't...

...nah, that's crazy talk. ;)

Except that EJ only played him 23 minutes a night.

Haywood got 28 minutes a night in EJ's final season only because Etan was out and Blatche was our only backup center. Haywood responded with the best season of his career. Haywood played 33 minutes a night under Flip and continued to excel.

<On Larry Hughes...>

http://deadspin.com/5806693/

This is pretty cool.

The link itself is a waste though, it raises way more questions than it answers, like "what is he up to these days?" or "what was his motive/what inspired him to do it?" ... but cool either way.

I always liked Larry, I hope he's doing well for himself. (Apparently he is if he's paying for other people's gas!)

But Hughes, who retired last year, is, we suppose, doing something good with all that money: He pumped $30 of gas for the first 150 cars that visited a Berkeley, Missouri Quik Trip on Sunday afternoon.

HE RETIRED?! :o

Cool man. I was searching for some Larry news myself and last I saw was he and Flip was trying outs for a slot in Memphis last February.

Wish a team will sign him next year. :(

Did I count right - eight former Wizards on the finals teams: Deshawn, Haywood, Miller, Caron, Howard, Cardinal, Bibby, and (on a technicality) Ilgauskas.

That's a pretty ugly team.

That's awesome about Larry. I wonder if he's doing anything with Joplin.

James Singleton amongst an interesting group workout for Minny. Good Luck James.
Among the free agents the Wolves will work out Thursday and Friday are former NBA players Quincy Douby, Orien Greene, J.R. Giddens, Steven Hunter, Cedric Jackson, Matt Janning, Alexander Johnson, Jerel McNeal, James Singleton and John Thomas; second-year players who played in the D-League last season including Matt Bouldin and DeShawn Sims; former Memphis guard Darius Washington Jr. who is most famous for missing clutch free-throws; former D-League standout James Mays who spent the last two seasons in China and Turkey; and a fellow by the name of Chris Daniels who either attended college in Georgia or at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (I'm guessing it's the latter)

Haywood/Ilgauskas
Howard/Cardinal
Butler/Cardinal
Miller/DeBrick
Bibby/FA

vs

McGee/Seraphin
Blatche/Booker
Lewis/Owens/Jeffers
Young/Crawford
Wall/Shakur

If those teams played 10 times, the old guys would have a real chance to win 5 IMO.

Gil just joined twitter.

He's in rare form. :)

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

It feels so weird for Gil to be in the former Wizards thread.

With all of the coaching vacancies, why haven't we heard the name Eddie Jordan mentioned among the possible candidates? :D

I was cracking up yesterday listening to the podcast of EJ on with Sheehan/Loverro. They asked him how he would defend Dirk. I swear, if he had said "protect the paint" I would have lost it in my cube.

The only way I'd ever want to see him coach again is if he replaced Spoelstra. If that happened, I'd get League Pass just to watch the nigthly hilarity in Miami.

Actually, I think EJ would be very effective coaching Miami. He's still the coach that developed Arenas into a great player in Gil's peak years. He's an excellent motivator - and that's generally what you need most of all with a team based around great players - someone who can manage egos.

What's he yelling about though? He didn't play at all in the finals.

Played a big role in Dallas's success this year. He played in games 1 and 2.

Interesting factoid, Steve Blake has three sons, one of them is named Jamison.
