Mark my words: Faried seems to be the type of guy with HOF potential. He's by far the most underrated player I've seen. For all of Vesely's dunks, the guy didn't score all that many points. For as limited a player as Faried supposedly is, he's among the most efficient of all NCAA finishers.

The explanation that Vesley won't have plays called for him but will score on breaks only applies on breaks.

Faried will get the ball off of both offensive and defensive rebounds. The reason Faried would have been a MUCH better selection than Vesely or Singleton is that he will have the ball in his hands far more than either player. Standing reach of 9' even is way better than taller Chris Singleton's 8'7.5". More importantly, Faried rebounded better than anybody in the NCAAs the past 25 years.

The guy will score a ton more points off dunks than Vesely.

For all the money guys like Ernie and his scouts and everybody else's scouts make, you guys who know me know I miss, too. (Almond and fats Sweetney are examples). But time and again things like trading the rights to Seth Curry for one-year rentals of Miller and Foye and selling DeJuan Blair, only to trade up for a Booker later or to draft higher for a player not nearly as good (Seraphin) are what happens. I talked about Millsap for MONTHS and Ernie drafted Pecherov.

Mark my words: This draft won't help that much because you can't play Singleton and Vesely without sitting Blatche and Lewisand Flip won't do that. You can't play both guys at the same time. It's like drafting two Trevor Arizas.

We'll see.

and Morehead State? How much of him have you seen to make a HOF kind of statement?

Good choice. Either him or one of CCJ's boys - Charles Jenkins - who's really grown on me.

Him, Jenkins, Cole (but he won't be there) ...

They won't pick them.

The problem about telling Vesely to play like a 240 lber - he's the weakest looking 240 lber I've ever seen. I don't see him being physically tough enough to play PF. Singleton would have a better shot at it, and he'd be undersized just like Booker - at the 4. So there's some roster adjustments they need to make, imo. If they can make those adjustments, they'll be fine. If they can't, well... that's going to be a problem.

Vesley - Meh

But Singleton and Williams would be a pretty
good haul.

PGs are easy to find. I think Shakur's not that bad a backup, personally. He was injured last season but came to the Wizards guns blazing.

I think Jordan's rebounding--and more the fact that if he's drafted and sticks SOMEBODY gets traded.

People on the daily dime are raving about our draft. They love it. Significantly more athletic for an already athletic team, and now a stud defensive stopper. I love this draft. This draft looked like a pile of dung when 60 pct of the big 5 begged off, and instead we managed to find an high upside guy (rated top 8-10 last year), and a guy who raced up the draft boards even with him missing most of the tourney this year due to injury. I love it, just love it. This draft looked like dog patch in april/may, now we actually may have mined something out of it, and we should suck enough for one more year to land a stud in '12, and a contributor hopefully in '13. I see some light, and if enough people are stupid, or if we trade up, we could land another guy. There's another 8 guys i love still available at 34.

My wishlist for 34:

Kenneth Faried-Damn he's gone.

Nikola Mirotic-Best value on the board

Jordan Hamilton-Best talent on the board

Tyler Honeycutt-Next best.

Norris Cole-At worst, he's gonna be very good.

Reggie Jackson-Underrated, now overrated?

Malcolm Lee-Interesting prospect

Jeremy Tyler-He's exactly who you think about at 34 if everyone listed above him are gone, though Johnson, Bertans, and Harper are probably better bets. He's very good in terms of upside, he's very bad in terms of head and risk. He's an idiot.

jaJuan Johnson-Very Undervalued.

David Bertans-In 3 years, h'es a junk bond that could pay off big.

Shelvin Mack: i think he sticks in the league.

Justin Harper-Very good upside. I like him.

I also like the Center Keith Benson.

Singleton cannot play guard. He'll have trouble staying with the quicker 3's, and he doesn't have good ball-handling skills even for a 3; much less a 2.

Man, I am sorry, Ruz.

Seriously, though, forget this and start making a list of gratitudes--I know I had to. Last year, the day before I had to be in family court to try and prevent my ex from taking the kids totally, I was driving down the road and my engine went out.

You and others here on realgm were very supportive. Helped with not just kind words but also a lot of suggestions on car purchases. Seemed like the more stuff happened, as long as I went through things with a joyful attitude, things were fine. Legal fees, drama, so what?

Wizards draft is something we usually bitch about, any way. I wasn't all that happy with Wall. I know I HATED the McGee and Young picks. EG turned out to really be right on Javale. Nick can score it well enough for where he was picked and has turned out better than Almond and Belinelli--and then some (I was wrong).

Who knows? I feel bad today so far. I wanted the guy the Nuggets just picked, but oh well ...

Hang in there amigo. We still got another pick. The 2nd round is time to shine.

hmmm, Ill tell you one thing I like. Besides Seraphin(who i still really like), all the guys we have picked up (Booker, Crawford, Vesely, and Singleton) are all hard working guys who will provide an instant contribution. While It is positive from a team culture standpoint I think it will really help in a trade in the next 12-15 months. We're going to need to consolidate this talent sooner than later and I like these guys for that purpose along with the hard-working mentality

Cramer, I think the real issue is playing time with Vesely also selected.

If it turns out there's a plan to play Vesely at PF and C and to play Singleton at some SG (can't see it); then I'll feel better.

Again, Vesely is not going to play a lot first year. You have Blatche at the 4, Rashard Lewis can play some there. Seraphin and McGee at the 5. Not great. But Vesely needs to get used to the NBA and the physical playHe definitely needs at least 10 pounds to play the 4. Heard Googs comparisons but that guy was jacked coming out of NC State (juiced?). This guy is a lot more wiry. I think he'll need a year or two. Singleton should have more impact his first year. Jany's only impact will be getting tutored on how to perform in dunk contest by Javale.

We never had the team together at one time last year. Crawford and Young haven't played together yet and Lewis was injured.

Fwiw, Ted just confirmed that we did indeed try to trade up.

If the Wizards had selected Singleton and Faried, or Vesely and Faried, I'd actually be quite pleased.

IF Vesely can be a stud PF - basically a 7 foot version of Kirilenko with better rebounding (and his body type suggests he can be that), then I'll consider myself wrong on this. He was playing SF in Europe, and Euroball does freaky things to people's stats.

Still, you'd think he should dominate more than he did with his physical attributes. But then again, I think Valanciuas will be a stud, and he wasn't that good in Europe (though he's 19).

I still think Biyombo is going to be Ben Wallace 2.0, basically 6/12/2.5, except he can guard guys like Dwight straight up and shut them down. He'll be stronger than Ben ever was, and more athletic than he ever was. Just as long if not longer. Biyombo was the main reason I wanted to deal McGee so badly - Williams + Biyombo is an amazing draft to me.

If Faried was just an inch taller and had like, 3-4 inches more standing reach, I'd draft him in a heartbeat, and I certainly would have taken him at 18. I see Faried as a center in a SF's body. Even a 6'9 in shoes with a 9'1 standing reach Faried makes a few all-star games.

All I know is that this team will be pretty darn athletic and Wall will have some great wings to run with. Singleton has 37.5 inch vertical, 30.5 no step vertical, had 15 reps in 185 pound bench press (Kawhi Leonard had 3). 11.33 seconds lane agility (Kanter had 11.3, Leonard had 11.45), 3.07 three-quarter court sprint (DWill had 3.23). Hell of an athlete.
