I'm pretty much assuming his option WILL be picked up, but not Singleton's. Always assume the worst with EG.

As of right now. I fully expect them to pick up the Ves option.

Its over paying, but don't they need to do that in order to have him be a restricted FA ?

 Because Jan Vesely is a player that needs to be an RFA.

Yep, just in case he blows up into that 4 pt 4 reb player we've all been dreaming off, Ernie can maintain the exclusive right to bid against himself.

What is the deadline to pick up (or not, hopefully) his option?

Halloween. 10/31. Almost 90 days from today.

The outrage on this board on the eve of the season is going to be epic when Ernie picks it up.

I am pencilling in my calender for 10/31 - get candy in case kids actually come to the door this year (and make it good stuff since I'll end up eating it), and express outrage that Ernie has picked up the option on both Singleton and Vesely.

It's important to have a new GM not just because of competence - but to have someone independent of mind from those picks.

There ya go.

Now I just gotta remember which one to give to the kids - if they come.

You really can't go wrong with brandied cherry cordials. Kids love 'em.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Ves update.

Heading back overseas to play with this national team.

By all accounts, he has been putting in a good summer of work..
2 month, 6 days a week, 1,000 shoots a day, weight training, running, conditioning, ball handling, etc.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V6_4GxK ... e=youtu.be

I have little doubt this is the most work and more structure off season he has had to date.

Ves does seem to be getting some joy of life back. Seems to like doing the video thing. Has kind of a Beatles feel to his videos.

Hope he does well over there and gets some swag going.

Its just his 3rd year in the league this year. One year strike shortened so no direction from the team in the off season. Last off season he was injured like Wall was. One year they added vets at his position. Overseas player and he changed positions. Not excusing him for his part or not being a more rounded player but he was a project. He did have lots of challenges. They should at least be considered.

In a lot of ways, it feels like he is now at the point of a one year college player who played one year in the NBA who is now coming into his second year. However you slice it, two partial years coming into is 3rd, its not unheard of for players to not get integrated into the league until year 3. He has only been around the NBA for two years. Seems so much longer.

I see why his jump shot looked so good in summer league. His FTs should be a whole lot better, judging by the work he was doing in his video.

Jan's gotten better. Will it be enough for him to have a positive NBA season?
