Wiley being injured hurt the Terps. Brantley is a non-factor. Turnovers and fouls disparity killed Maryland.

Layman hasn't improved in 2 years.

Carter's a good player but he needs to board better

If Wiley were healthy, Melo wouldn't get fatigued. He and Sulaimon have to go too many minutes.

Layman is the weak link right now.

I can't believe I'm seeing Layman as a1st round pick on DX. Although Melo got more assists and scored a little more, Paige was very aggressive,I was Impressed by him tonight.

Jake Layman is this generations Terrance Morris. I mean he's a decent player, but not nearly as good as the accolades and media hype. I remember Morris never came up in big moments and played soft, which is Laymans calling card. If Layman showed at all the Terps would have won.

Gotta give it up to UNC rather than criticize anyone on the Terps, imo. UNC shot lights out - far better than they have - thanks in large part to a great performance by Marcus Paige, and they did a good job of forcing turnovers. It was a fun game to watch even with the Terps losing. UNC put on a show - kudos to them.

Terps have the talent but haven't really put it all together yet. Still not playing great team ball, which is to be expected with so many new faces. Takes a great team to go into Chapel Hill and beat a damn good UNC team.

Looks like the new football HC might be DJ Durkin.

Stay tuned.

That game last night was so dreadful, Stone looks like he needs a lot of work, Carter is weak on the boards and Layman is just bad. I've said it since he was hyped as a freshman. Hes not good at all

We were punked by the UNC bigs last night and UNC made shot after shot after shot and we were lazy in transition defense. We never deserved to win that game last night. How long can Melo play 35+MPG at an elite level without getting fatigued

He has to be better than Vasquez first. Let's not forget Greivis triple double game against a much better UNC team (that iirc won the championship that year with Hansbrough, Lawson & co)

I love Melo but lets not go crazy. Dixon is the 2nd best Terp of all time behind Bias(and I think you can legitimately argue Dixon was the GOAT, but out of respect to Bias I'll put him #2).

Ivan Bender -the Terps 5th big - had 6 points and 5 rebounds in 4 minutes the other day - giving him a PER of 115.1. He's 6'9, 230 and is listed as a sophomore, so he might be a valuable player the next couple of seasons. Of course, his younger brother is Dragan Bender - who RealGM.com has as the 4th pick in the 2016 draft.

Maryland Hires Washington Native Abdul-Rahim from Alabama

Aazar Abdul-Rahim has agreed to join new Maryland football coach D.J. Durkin's staff as a defensive backs coach, a source close to the situation told InsideMDSports.com.

Abdul-Rahim, a Washington native with strong ties to the local high school football and recruiting scene, built a high school powerhouse at Friendship Collegiate Academy (D.C.) before moving onto the University of Alabama, where he's spent the past two years in an off-field, recruiting-focused position. His addition is expected help the Terps continue their recent gains in local recruiting, and ease the blow of losing long-time local recruiting ace Mike Locksley; Locksley's departure hasn't been announced, but his return appears unlikely after Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson passed on hiring him as head coach.

Abdul-Rahim, 39, starred at Dunbar High in the District before going on to play cornerback at San Diego State in the late 90s before eventually launching the unlikely powerhouse at FCA in 2004. There, he cranked out dozens of college recruits, including several that went on to Maryland -- NFL-bound defensive end Yannick Ngakoue among them -- and blue-chip national recruits like Eddie Goldman (Florida State) and Jalen Tabor (Florida).

Abdul-Rahim has long-standing relationships with multiple Maryland commits and could get the Terps back in play multiple four-star prospects who had been looking elsewhere. Alabama hired Abdul-Rahim as a defensive analyst in 2014, and he was promoted to assistant player personnel director at Alabama before this season. He was helping head coach Nick Saban recruit multiple Washington-area prospects and also coordinated some of the Crimson Tide's recruiting efforts in the south.
