Re: Political Roundtable Part XXVIII
Trump and Pompeo's accusations that the virus came from a lab in China - while giving absolutely no evidence - is incredibly irresponsible and yet another example of them being cro magnon morons that just make stuff up, and when questioned - they attack the questioner. They've gone through life bullying everyone that didn't bow down to them, and that garbage has unfortunately been key to their success. They're really just mafioso.

Interesting and short discussion of the way forward on COVID. Interesting that many at the Heritage Foundation are also believers in testing to restore confidence (well, at least the economists there).

The bizarre thing is there's literally an anti-science movement going on now that's against testing. And the people in it don't realize they're morons.

Speaking of the piece of garbage in the WH, here's another day in the life: https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-joe-scarborough-cold-case-pence-coronavirus-152113914.html
Thing is, this crosses a line and is harassment of the media and yet another attempt to intimidate anyone who might think of saying anything negative about him. It's not ok. And the fact that most Republicans don't give a f is disgusting.

Puzzling no doubt... if you really want to reopen that is what you need. Is the US really so science phobic now?

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXVIII
Does Biden really have to campaign?
Seems like Trump is doing all his work for him.
That said, I vastly overestimated the intelligence of the voting
public in 2016 and/or vastly underestimated the effectiveness
of decades of propaganda against HRC. She's not running this time.
At least one wild card is obviously Reade's allegation.
For the moment, that doesn't seem to be getting much traction.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Meanwhile, Trump's campaign shows the complete lack of integrity runs through the entire WH: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/cnn-sends-trump-campaign-cease-and-desist-letter-for-misleading-ad/ar-BB13B1sZ?li=BBnb7Kz
We're used to politicians exaggerating and bending the truth, but completely changing the truth so blatantly and obviously in an age where it's so easy to verify the truth...
Every day, the question comes to mind - why in the bleep to people accept this?

One thing matters: get them ejected from positions of power, then flick on the lights and chase the cockroaches into the corners where you can kick them to death with pointy-toed shoes. And when many of them flee overseas to avoid prosecution, empower our intelligence community to track them down and haul them out of whatever spider hole they crawl into, even deep into Russia, and bring them to justice right and proper. These are the equivalent of war crimes. Ecological destruction and biowarfare and ethnic cleansing and class warfare and genocidal policies. We should treat them like the Nazis they are. Hunt them for the rest of their miserable lives.

That would be nice. Maybe in a few years there'll be a movie where it happens, if it's safe to make one, which is questionable.
However, what is bothersome, is all of the 10s of millions of Trump supporters. Some republicans just like him because he does republican stuff on taxes, abortion, judges, (anti) civil rights, the environment, etc. That's understandable, as I would vote for a democrat even if he(she) was a horrible person. But Trump destroyed the standard republicans to get the nomination, and gets 90% approval ratings among Rs, so were talking most Rs.
So while Trump and his cronies are hunted down, and justice served, what happens to his supporters - almost half the population? I don't have an answer, which is what's depressing. We have to settle for living in a country where half the people can't stand the other half.

How long has it been since the GOP has been in favor of small d democracy?
I would say decades.
