Re: Tracking Former Wizards 4.0
Imagine how good the trade w/ GS would look now if Rollins hadn't pooped his own nest --

Completely out of left field but Wall is stamped in DC for life. Glad to see him back doing great things, right where he belongs

Love it. Love JW. Love Howard and what it stands for. Really pulling for him to succeed. I think Howard just surpassed UMD and Georgetown as my second favorite team … behind UVA

He has been playing well for the Lakers, at one point he was in trade rumors with them.

He is really in a good role for him there. With so many decision makers around him (Luka, Lebron, Reeves), all Rui has to do is finish. And Rui is a good finisher. Defensively, he remains solid on ball and kinda lousy off ball.

Pick and roll where the roll man then screens the big in the paint to make a lane for the driver. It’s like a double pick. Trick is to stick it so it’s not a moving screen. Means you have to commit to the roll fast to get to your spot and block the defender. Mostly refs won’t call it as a moving screen because it looks like a natural part of your roll motion. And the other big has to guard you as if that’s the threat.
John Wall says he stole it from Kendrick Perkins on OKC screening for Russ. Then taught it to March for the Wizards.

John Wall is so damn smart about basketball.

Watching the Wiz Lakers from 2006. Man, we were good and Arenas was so much fun to watch. That group should have gone so much farther. Eddie Jordan just wasn’t up for it. I forgot about our depth. Daniels, Stevenson, Tuff juice, and more. Good times. My kiddo was born that year. We watched that game with him sleeping on my chest.
And who could forget the legendary Gordon Biersch get together before the Cavs playoff game earlier that year?

Arenas getting injured in 2007 closed the window. It would have been nice to see that team get a postseason run. Caron also got injured.

Over these 2025-2026 NBA playoffs, I've imagined how good (or bad) an all ex-Wizards team would be.nate33 wrote:payitforward wrote:Rui had a terrific game to eliminate the Rockets.

Guards
Marcus Smart, CJ McCollum, Landry Shamet (?), Aaron Holiday
Forwards
Deni Avdija, Rui Hachimura, Kelly Oubre, Cory Kispert
Centers
Kristaps Porzingis, Jay Huff
Is this accurate. Who am I forgetting?

Jordan Clarkson (was traded for cash considerations on draft night)
Ryan Rollins
Jordan Goodwin
KCP
Mo Wagner
Marvin Bagley
Tyus Jones (had decent minutes in the playoffs against the Wolves in 1 game)
Temple (Anthony Gil role)
Former Mavs would probably win (Luka, Brunson, Davis) but it would be entertaining.
