Ok, with Jackson gone (OkC's got crazy depth at guards now), I'm down to Jenkins and 2 of the guys Consiglieri mentioned - JaJuan Johnson and Justin Harper.

If this is a tank year, I'm doing my best to dump Dray for a #2. Maybe to Charlotte for Bismack?

Cramer, I think the real issue is playing time with Vesely also selected.

If it turns out there's a plan to play Vesely at PF and C and to play Singleton at some SG (can't see it); then I'll feel better.

That's the sort of stuff you worry about after you're already good and need the pieces to fit. We're in asset accumulation phase and bringing in 7 rookies in two years to combine with three young players who were already here, so overlap was almost inevitable.

If we want to talk about that aspect, we at least brought in two guys who play the one position none of our other prospects man.

I can't believe people would be down on the Singleton pick. You're kidding right? I don't give a **** who we drafted at 6, getting Singleton at 18 is just unbelievable. A lockdown, athletic perimeter defender on the Wizards? No way.

Man, I am sorry, Ruz.

Seriously, though, forget this and start making a list of gratitudes--I know I had to. Last year, the day before I had to be in family court to try and prevent my ex from taking the kids totally, I was driving down the road and my engine went out.

You and others here on realgm were very supportive. Helped with not just kind words but also a lot of suggestions on car purchases. Seemed like the more stuff happened, as long as I went through things with a joyful attitude, things were fine. Legal fees, drama, so what?

Wizards draft is something we usually bitch about, any way. I wasn't all that happy with Wall. I know I HATED the McGee and Young picks. EG turned out to really be right on Javale. Nick can score it well enough for where he was picked and has turned out better than Almond and Belinelli--and then some (I was wrong).

Who knows? I feel bad today so far. I wanted the guy the Nuggets just picked, but oh well ...

Hang in there amigo. We still got another pick. The 2nd round is time to shine.

Ruz, things are SO MUCH BETTER this year. Already lost 25 pounds. Love the new apartment, the new car, and won in court. Just passed by the ex (quite unexpectedly) in a food court. I am on top of the world, man. Won't say anything bad about her but will say there's a song with a line "I ain't missing you at all". Best of all since all this went down, my credit score is good and getting better.

Being close to broke and learning to budget isn't the worst, man. People in other countries are starving and we're on the Internet blogging. :)

God is good. :)

Look, this is the NBA draft. I've been watching the old ones and it seems like 9 outta 10 picks are crap. If we get a 3 outta of those 2 picks I'm fine. Not ideal but I'll live. My feeling is get PLAYERS in here and let them sort it out. If we have a glut at a position then deal. If they all suck then fire somone and go back to being a Wiz fan. And I like Singleton because he's a defender. I think they're a lot tougher to find than scorers. You can find guys to put the ball in the basket...and pay more for it as well...but getting a guy that wants to get up in peoples ass and can? Not easy. We just got one IMO.

Now I want Singler or the brotha with the gold tooth....the guy that adds serious toughness and will put someone on their ass...in the game or in practice.

If they can make those adjustments, they'll be fine. If they can't, well... that's going to be a problem.

Again, Vesely is not going to play a lot first year. You have Blatche at the 4, Rashard Lewis can play some there. Seraphin and McGee at the 5. Not great. But Vesely needs to get used to the NBA and the physical playHe definitely needs at least 10 pounds to play the 4. Heard Googs comparisons but that guy was jacked coming out of NC State (juiced?). This guy is a lot more wiry. I think he'll need a year or two. Singleton should have more impact his first year. Jany's only impact will be getting tutored on how to perform in dunk contest by Javale.

Remember when "supplements" almost took Googs out? :-?

I don't see the similarity with Googs. Vesely is a bit longer and an even higher flier. Googs was a nasty shooter with not quite great NBA athleticism like Vesely has. Googs was a much better midrange shooter and scorer than Jan appears to be. Googs was an offensively player but Vesely appears to be a defender first.

Ruz, lets just get some players in here and then sort it out.

And how many times has a guy been drafted with the caveat "he needs to get stronger, but he's a great prospect". Why can't that apply to Vesely? Just because he's not Kanter? Just because it didn't work with Pecherov? C'mon people!

Jordan Hamilton to the Mavs? Kind of makes me wonder what kind of money they'll offer Caron Butler.

Marion got them the title.

80sballboy wrote:Who cares if they play the same position? Vesely can play some four and Singleton can play some 4. Neither will play a ton in their first year. You take the best player available at 18 and that's what the Wiz did. They could have got a gunner in Marshawn Brooks. And as for Kanter, I wanted him but obviously others did too. Nobody wanted the 18th pick in this draft.

No point in Brooks,we already have a similar player in Crawford, and Crawford won't try to dominate the ball as much as Brooks would.

I never saw the Googs comparison. Somebody just mentioned him. I guess the same number and white. I read a quote from Vlade Divac who said he's like Kirilenko but could be an All-Star if he had a jumper. That's like saying I could be a millionaire if I had a millon dollars.

Singleton saves the draft. Shooter or rebounder at 34 please. Jordan Williams seems like a fit.
