Melo is must watch at the moment. He actually kinda reminds me of Steph Curry in college in some respects.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

I see that the Verizon Center is hosting March Madness games, possible home game for the Terps.

Maryland Running Back Commit Jake Funk Named All-Met OPOY

Maryland running back commit Jake Funk has been named The Washington Post’s 2015 All-Met Football Offensive Player of the Year.

Funk, a 5-foot-11, 190 pound senior, tallied video game-like numbers in his final year at Damascus (Md.). He rushed for 2,866 yards and broke the state’s single-season touchdown record with 57. Seven of those touchdowns came in the 3A state championship game, where he powered the Swarmin’ Hornets offensive attack en route to a 55-14 win over Dundalk.

Maryland’s Gatorade Player of the Year was offered by the Terps shortly after Randy Edsall was fired in October and committed not long after. The powerback could see the field as early as next year for Maryland since Brandon Ross graduated and Wes Brown is suspended indefinitely.

Fellow commits Dwayne Haskins and Lorenzo Harrison were also named to the offensive first-team. Other names on the list include Trevon Diggs, Terrance Davis and Jauan Williams.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Terps are represented on the first-team by KeAndre Jones and Parnell Motley. They are actively recruiting Terrell Hall, who made the team at defensive end.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Richard Merritt commits to Maryland: Terps land 4-star offensive guard

Four-star Washington guard Richard Merritt has committed to play his college football at Maryland, he announced on Friday. The blue-chip offensive lineman is one of Maryland's most surprising, impressive recruiting grabs in years.

Merritt is rated as the 10th-best guard in the 2016 class by 247Sports and the No. 3 player in the District. He previously played at Friendship Collegiate Academy under Aazaar Abdul-Rahim, whom Maryland hired this month as defensive backs coach. He's currently at Archbishop Carroll. He's the first public commitment at Maryland under new head coach DJ Durkin.

Merritt is an enormous 6'5 and 345 pounds, and had offers from a long list of national powers. All four College Football Playoff teams offered him, as did Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia and dozens more programs. Merritt could've played virtually anywhere, so it's a serious feather in Maryland's cap to have landed him.

By the 247Sports Composite, Merritt becomes the third-best prospect in Maryland's 2016 class, only behind elite quarterback Dwayne Haskins and linebacker Keandre Jones. He's Maryland's second local four-star guard recruit in two years, as the Terps added Quarvez Boulware – also a Friendship alum – in last year's class.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

The Terps need to figure out who their OC is... Haskins taking recruiting trips to Florida and posing in front of Ohio State's O-line isn't a good look.

Yeah, but that's only one guy. Ohio State gets 3 to 5 of them per year.

Wonder whether Jauan Williams comes as well. They're supposed to be a package deal (but so were Haskins and Diggs).

Fingers crossed.

http://maryland.247sports.com/Article/Terps-Basketball-Team-on-Record-Setting-Pace-42196558
By the Numbers: Terps Among Nation's Elite Offenses

By the Numbers:

53.5 - That’s the Terps field goal percentage this season. Only one team in the country -- Saint Mary’s (Calif.) -- is shooting better. Maryland has shot above 50 percent in eight games so far this season and has reached the 60 percent threshold twice. It shot a season-high 67.4 percent earlier this month against St. Francis (Pa.). It’s two lowest marks -- against Georgetown and Rider -- occurred during the first three games of the year, so this mark has only improved recently.

61.8 - Maryland leads the country in 2-point percentage and is one of two teams shooting above 60 percent from inside the arc on the season (Belmont). If they keep the number up in conference play, they’d become the first team since Samford in 2002-03 to shoot above 60 percent on 2-point plays over the course of an entire season.

4 - Only four teams, including Maryland, are shooting above 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from three and 75 percent from the free throw line. The others? Miami (Fla.), Pittsburgh and Virginia. The Terps rank 27th nationally in three-point percentage and 16th in at the charity stripe. Maryland failed to shoot above 40 percent from three in its first four games, but has only shot less than 40 percent once since then. The Terps tied their season-high with 12 threes on Saturday night against Princeton.

2 - Only two teams - Saint Mary’s and North Florida -- have been more efficient against man to man defenses than Maryland, according to Synergy Sports. More numbers from Synergy: the Terps are the fourth-most efficient team in transition and fifth-best on possessions that end in the hands of a pick and roll ball handler.

7 - That’s how many players on the team are shooting above 75 percent at the rim, according to hoop-math.com. That includes Melo Trimble (79.3 percent), Jake Layman (77.3), Robert Carter (80), Rasheed Sulaimon (90), Michal Cekovsky (82.4), Damonte Dodd (85) and Ivan Bender (100). How does that stack up nationally? Only five teams are shooting a better percentage at the rim this season.

5 - It’s not the most efficient shot -- and the Terps are shooting it less than 30 percent of the time -- but only four teams are shooting a higher percentage on two-point jumpers (hoop-math.com). That number is due in large part to Carter, who is shooting 68.4 percent on such shots. He’s the only player on the team shooting above 60 percent in the mid-range area, which explains why he shoots it from there more often than anyone on the team.

17 - Maryland ranks 17th nationally in assist-to-field goal attempt ratio (1:3). This is something Mark Turgeon has stressed to his team all season. 36 of the Terps’ 55 field goals over the past two games have been assisted.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Maryland 4-star OL target Terrance Davis has Terps in top 3, will announce decision Jan. 2

Maryland joins Michigan and Florida in the DeMatha in the hunt for the No. 1 player in Maryland and the No. 2 guard in the country. Davis will be annoucing his decision after the Under Armour All-America game on Jan. 2, where you'll be able to see him take the field with Maryland commits Dwayne Haskins and Tino Ellis. He'd be a score as DJ Durkin's second signing after D.C. guard Richard Merritt.

Oh-well, Diamond Stone started the year slowly so I had hoped that we might get a second year from him, last night he exploded with 39 points in the Terps rally to beat Penn State. One and done.

Brenda Frese is one terribly overrated coach.

She starts Pavlich, who cannot score. She plays Pfirman and Confroy, who cannot defend.

Frese doesn't play athletic girls like Gillespie, Fraser and Harrison. I watched Ohio State field a much quicker team while Frese had three girls who looked like they were running in deep mud.

I know why Lexie Brown left.

http://maryland.247sports.com/Article/BREAKING-Terrance-Davis-Commits-To-Terps-42456915

Blue-Chip OL Terrance Davis Commits To Terps

Maryland has landed one of the top offensive linemen in the country. Four-star DeMatha (Md.) offensive guard Terrance Davis announced his commitment to the Terps moments this afternoon during Saturday's Under Armour All-American game, choosing Maryland over finalists Michigan and Florida along with a long list of other powerhouse offers.

Davis, the No. 2 offensive guard and No. 66 overall prospect in the Class of 2016, joins three DeMatha classmates who will make the short drive to College Park next season.

"It's close to home, I like coach Durkin. The first time I went to sit down and meet with him, I liked his energy. The plan he has for the program to take them to the next level and I'm just trying to compete right away in the Big Ten east and win," Davis told 247Sports earlier this week. "I know coach Aazaar [Abdul-Rahim] very well, the hires he's made, we probably have one of the best coaching staffs in the country right now, and it's close to home. Like I said, the education is good, and they play in the second-best conference in the country so that's a plus."

A long-time Michigan lean, Davis appeared a longshot for the Terps at times, with Alabama, Georgia, UCLA, Michigan and Florida also after the 6-foot-4, 305-pounder. The school's decision to hire former Michigan defensive coordinator Durkin, though, helped the Terps rise on Davis' list. He canceled a Georgia visit last month, instead visiting Maryland, and he came away raving about the Terps' new coach.

"It definitely went up [when Durkin came in]. Coach Edsall, he's a great guy, he made sure he did the right thing all the time, but I don't think the program was going to elevate as far as wins, as far as beating top teams. Coach Durkin, he's going to bring the energy that's going to work," Davis said.

With the commitment of Davis, the No. 1 ranked senior in Maryland, the Terps now hold commitments from three of the top five players in Maryland -- a nearly unthinkable local haul in many recent years. Davis believes the hometown fans have a lot to look forward to.

"I think the future is bright," he said.
