It needs to be said. The Republican Party is full of traitors and they hate Democracy and the will of the American people. I don’t know if any of the Independents in this thread aren’t convinced that they’re a party of pure evil but this whole impeachment hearing antics should be proof enough.

Just read this horrible ****

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/12/12/mcconnells-plan-sham-trial-reveals-depths-trumps-corruption/

The Post has the latest on McConnell’s scheming: Republican senators are “coalescing” behind a quick impeachment trial that would call no witnesses and result in a quick acquittal vote. Republicans are trying to resist Trump’s stated desire to turn this into a huge and messy spectacle by insisting on hearing from witnesses such as Hunter Biden.

Yeah, quoted directly contradicts what you said (all vs "like 90%"). What am I missing here?

Now you're just gaslighting me like that big mean guy Donald J Trump. Very sad the level of discourse we've reached where both sides are basically Donald Trump. Everything is the same. You are Donald Trump.

Sorry. I quoted you directly, 2x. If you want to argue 90% isn’t 100% you’re right.

But 90/100 is still an A in many instances. And 90% is a pretty extraordinary
claim for which evidence ought to offered. None was, just a flat assertion.

What I posted is a long way from gaslighting.

Is every contract let by the federal govt worthy of the every bit of money that
will be paid? Pretty doubtful at best. 90% is pure hyperbole and made up out
of whole cloth as is routinely done by far too many pols, including too many dems.

Having contractors as opposed to federal workers do the work of
Govt is a view much more broadly held by the GOP than the dems.
But there clearly is a role for contractors to do many things. Saying
90% is ‘grift’ and offering no proof of that is what many would call demagoguery.

If the GOP goes this route, the Dems should fillibuster until the next election.

I get that they will acquit, but to not even go through the motions of considering the evidence is enraging. This is Merrick Garland times 100.

One thing the OpEd mentions is #MoscowMitch might not have the votes for his scheme.

I’m pretty sure DCK would tell you no. As I will.

If you want to say 90%, back it up.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

And even if some legitimately believe there shouldn't be an impeachment, calling the investigations a sham, a witchhunt, etc is just unacceptable. They can't be stupid enough to actually think that what Trump was doing wasn't at least highly questionable. That would require the inability to think. It's like what happened doesn't even matter to them - as long as they can get away with it - like they're in elementary school.

I remember predicting this years ago. Of course he’s going to skip the debates and instead “campaign”. This President has broken precedent with everything in the country, just look at the Whitehouse Press briefings. And Republicans are just going to go along with and continue to suck his orange ass. The media predictably will hem haw then just fall inline and say something about both sides.

Listen Republicans truly don’t care. They’re a cult that hate the very things they swore to protect. So I ask my American friends, when are you guys going to riot?

https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/12/politics/senate-impeachment-trial-mitch-mcconnell-white-house/index.html

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and President Donald Trump's top lawyer sketched out a plan Thursday to coordinate closely for an impeachment trial but haven't reached agreement on a final strategy to defend Trump against charges of high crimes and misdemeanors, according to two sources familiar with the conversation.

Graham as chair of senate intelligence says explicitly that he's conducting a sham investigation when it reaches the Senate, not calling witnesses, and basically rubber stamping it to find no evidence of wrongdoing.

McConnell also straight up said that there's no way in hell that the senate removes trump.

Oh, and Huckabee said that he found a legal loophole that enables Trump to run in 2024 for a third term, and will be revealing details tonight on Hannity.

It's a freaking circus.

There are two reasons why Booker and Castro haven’t gotten more consideration for President despite being infinitely more qualified than Buttigieg. Race and the media’s obsession with finding the great white hope that will somehow turn out the white working class in middle America. However that blows away the argument that Trump won because of economic reasons not race. Both Booker and Castro have had more progressive economic policies that would help the working class but they’ve gotten no credit for it.

The second reason is that Pete is the shiny new object in the eyes of the media and that’s heavily influenced that the primary starting in Iowa and New Hampshire.

I think that Pete ran a better campaign. While Beto was out hitting all the town halls, Pete was hitting all the talk shows.

And I don't think Pete came up with the idea, but Buttigieg is the first one I heard promoting Medicare for all who want it. If you want M4A - you are going to go with Warren or Sanders not Booker or Castro.

All in all, Pete ran the better campaign although being much less qualified than any of the candidates still in the race.

And as he started surging in the polls - lots of 1/2 truths emerged - just like when Warren surged. If Sanders starts surging again - you will here that he is a full-blown socialist that we can't trust.

And of course - we have our POTUS trying to get foreign governments to announce looking into Biden.

Always figured Huckabee and McConnell for being scum, but until the Republican primaries were over, Graham said a lot more horrible things about Trump than any of us had. The best anti-Trump quotes came from South Carolina's eloquent Senator Lindsey Graham. What caused him to do maybe the biggest overnight 180 in political history? America has a right to know - since he seems to be the party's top spokesman.

if i had to guess, it's because he's gearing up for 2024 and wants to win over Trump's endorsement and his base. i have no idea why mcconnell, huckabee, perry, et al are such spineless cucks though

But why does the media let him off the hook and not demand an answer from the horse's mouth?

Completely contrary to what Trump's babbled on about ever since he was elected, the media has been the Republican party's biggest friend. A 16 year old girl from Sweden with Aspergers has stood up to Trump and his gang o stooges more effectively than the entire media.

i low-key have very little respect for journalists. i understand it's a very demanding job, and a very difficult one, but they are just butt at holding people accountable, or getting actual answers from their interviewees. it's completely dependent on access and scoops, and not so much in getting to the truth. and if you go after someone too hard, that access is cut off, and so you stick with softballs so you can keep your job.

"why are you investigating biden?"
"the corruption"
*next*

when it should be
"why are you investigating biden?"
"the corruption"
"what corruption?"
"burisma hiring hunter biden"
"any other instances of corruption?"
"many"
"like what?"
"many too many to count. everyone knows about it"
"like what?"
